Best route and where to stop for the night driving from Omaha, NE to Las Vegas, NV right before Thanksgiving?
We are driving in a small car from Omaha, Nebraska to Las Vegas, Nevada the weekend before Thanksgiving. Based on the time of year, what would be the best route to take (or where might I find this information) and where should we book a place to stay overnight (city or town that s about halfway)? We want to try to get to Vegas in 2 days.
5 AnswersLas Vegas4 years agoTaking in a hairless guinea pig. What supplies do I need and what do I need to know?
I have a friend of a friend that has to give up her hairless guinea pig tomorrow (I won't get into why, it's another story) and she doesn't want it going to a shelter, so I offered to take it. I have experience keeping different animals (ferrets, leopard geckos, dogs, turtles, etc.) but I've never had a guinea pig before, let alone a hairless guinea pig which I've read requires more care and such.
What are the basics I need for now and what are some things I need to know before I take in this guinea pig tomorrow? I've been reading some sites but it's not really clear on what's essential for now and what I can get later on. I know she has a cage for it but have no idea what kind, so I might get a better one if it's not suitable. I don't know what else will be coming with the guinea pig and I want to make sure I have everything it needs.
Thank you!
2 AnswersRodents5 years agoIs there a spirit (or spirits) in my house?
We live in Henderson, Nevada (which is at the south outer edge of Las Vegas) and our house was built about 9 years ago and we are the only ones who have ever been in the house. A few years after our house was built, I believe about 2010, we would hear thumping sounds coming from upstairs when everyone was downstairs. We'd go to look and everything would still be in it's place. My mom would walk into rooms and smell things like burnt toast even though no one was cooking anything. The washer and dryer doors have opened and closed on their own, and our dogs will stare at nothing and bark, or act fearful or defensive while staring at a spot in a room. At one point there was a Medium on one of the radio shows here in Vegas (possibly Gary Spivey? though I don't remember for sure) and my mom called in and he said that we had 3 screaming spirits in our house and he did something to make them leave. After that we didn't notice anything unexplainable for years. About a year or so ago though, my dogs started acting strange again like they were seeing things. They would do the same thing, act defensive or scared and barked at a spot in a room, usually downstairs. About 2 months ago my sister was laying in bed reading and saw a mist or fog go across her room. Then about 2 weeks ago I witnessed the same thing but in my own room. I was reading on my bed and over the top of my book I saw a fog go across my room, but it happened super quick and when I looked up completely it was gone.
4 AnswersParanormal Phenomena5 years agoCan I (23) take my sister (17) to get a tattoo in the state of Nevada with parental permission?
My mom is allowing my sister to get a small tattoo for her birthday (she just turned 17) but my mom doesn't have time to take her to get one because of work. I am 23 (I have 3 tattoos as well) and am willing to take my sister to get her tattoo. Will a tattoo shop allow us to do so even though our mom won't be there, though she gave her consent? Is there anything I could bring, show, or do that I can use to prove that my mom gives her consent? Will they accept her calling the shop or accept her written consent w/ a copy of her ID or something? If they won't accept any of those things, do you think they would allow my mom to stop in and give her consent and leave but I would still stay with my sister while she gets the tattoo?
I want to take her to the shop that I've gone to before for my tattoos and since it's such a simple tattoo we were thinking about just doing a walk in tomorrow if possible. I do plan on calling the shop in the morning but I was just curious now as well. Thank you!
5 AnswersTattoos5 years agoDoes Walmart or Target sell any those fancy adult coloring books in stores?
I want to go and get one tomorrow and I know Barnes and Noble sells them but its about a 30 minute drive from my house and I won t have the time to go there, so I was just curious if anyone has seen these at either Walmart or Target? It can pretty much be any of them, like the Enchanted Forest, Secret Garden, any of the Zen ones, or any others.
3 AnswersCorporations5 years agoI'm knitting with circular needles & my cable keeps popping off of the needles. What can I do to prevent/fix this or what is a better brand?
I'm currently working on knitting a small baby blanket. I am doing so with US size 10 circular needles by Boye that I bought from Walmart. I'm starting to get very annoyed because the cable keeps popping off of the needles and I've almost lost stitches multiples times because of this.
Is there anything I can do to prevent/fix this? Or should I buy a pair of higher quality circular needles? If so, which do you recommend?

Just asking out of curiosity. For me, the only book I ever threw across the room was Burned by Ellen Hopkins. It ripped my soul apart lol.
6 AnswersBooks & Authors6 years agoCan I be forced to appear for a trial as a victim/witness if I'm out of town during the trial date?
I was robbed at gunpoint at my place of work almost 3 months ago. The man who robbed me and another man who robbed my boss 4 months ago (they were working together) were arrested together the same day (they robbed many other places over the course of a few months before they robbed me at my job and were caught).
Fast forward to early May, I was served a subpoena (which they gave me less than 24 hours notice for) and I gave a testimony to a grand jury. Now it's almost July and I haven't heard anything on whether these two guys ended just pleading guilty or if this is going to trial.
I will be out of town for two and a half weeks in July and I'm worried they might schedule a trial while I'm gone and I won't find out until the last minute like I did with my subpoena. If they schedule a trial while I'm already on the other side of the country, can they force me to come back for the trial?
I'm really worried about this because I cannot reschedule this trip. I've already booked my trip, spent $400 on a plane ticket, and have already gotten the time off approved for my work. I'm just worried they are going to give me a hard time if they have a trial during the time I will be gone.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoThoughts on a small tattoo below collarbone on a soon-to-be teacher?
I live in a pretty liberal area and I will have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education by May 2016. I'm going to get a tattoo this Thursday. It is about the size of a racquetball (2.25 inches by 2.25 inches). It's a small cluster of mountains and underneath it will say "Home is where the mountains are." I'm still trying to decide on tattoo placement. I already have two small anchor tattoos on the sides of my feet (between my ankle and my heel on the inside of each foot) and I have another small tattoo on my ribs about the size of a silver dollar.
Do you think it would be inappropriate for me to have this tattoo just under my collarbone? Do you think this could affect my chances of finding a teaching job? If I were to get this tattoo there, do you think it would be difficult to cover, especially in warmer months? If you have a tattoo in this area, what have you experienced as far as having a tattoo there? What are your thoughts on teachers with tattoos? Also, if you think this is a bad area for a teacher to have a tattoo, do you have a suggestion for a better placement area? Thank you!
5 AnswersTattoos6 years agoKeurig/K-cup/Coffee Pod recommendations for someone who like flavored coffee?
My mom got a Keurig coffee maker for Christmas so we went to the store and picked out some flavors to try. I bought myself the Starbucks Mocha flavored ones thinking they would actually taste like a mocha, however when I made one this morning, it just tasted like unflavored, very bitter coffee. It was disgusting and not even remotely chocolate-y.
So basically I'm looking for coffee pods that are flavored with things like caramel, chocolate, vanilla, etc. and actually taste good. Or how can I go about making the Starbucks Mocha K-cups taste similar to the ones sold in Starbucks, or at least better than they taste already (as far as which setting to choose, whether to add milk, sugar, etc.)
We don't have the newest model that only accepts Keurig brand pods, so any non-Keurig pods work too.
Also, which are your favorite pods? Do you make any modifications to make them taste better or do you like how it tastes without any mods?
1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink6 years agoCould I possibly have a mild form of depression?
For most of my life I've been a pretty introverted person. I currently work in a fast food joint and am going to college full-time to be a teacher. Some days I have class as well as work a 7 or 8 hour shift. When I get home from either work or school, I feel mentally (and sometimes physically) exhausted from being around so many people and have to have time by myself or else I get irritable.
I feel that generally I am a happy person when I'm not at home or by myself. I sometimes act kind of goofy with my friends and I guess I act relatively normal. At work I tend to be pretty outgoing and happy-go-lucky, although I've noticed that a lot of things that used to make me happy don't really phase me anymore; almost like I've become desensitized to many things that used to make me happy. If I'm at home, I generally act rather apathetic. Usually if I'm home all day, I'm working on homework and tend to get irritable when I get interrupted when I'm trying to concentrate, especially since I have a hard enough time trying to concentrate on my homework as it is (although I do get it all done and do it well. I have a 4.0 GPA). I feel tired and stressed out all the time, even during breaks between semesters when I don't have classes or homework.

6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture7 years agoHow do I properly punctuate a book series in an essay?
I have to write about three books or book series that influenced me as a reader (prior to high school) for my college children's literature class. I am going to talk about the Where's Spot? series, the Harry Potter series, and the Bloody Jack series. I know with a single book you italicize the title but what about a book series? Thanks!
1 AnswerHomework Help7 years agoDoes child under 12 flying with sister (21) need ID/birth certificate at the airport?
At the end of June I have to fly my younger brother up to my grandparents' house so he doesn't have to fly alone. He is 9 and I am 21. I can't find anything on the TSA website about whether or not he needs to bring some form of I.D. or a birth certificate to the airport for check-in, security, etc. I don't want to get to the airport and be turned away because he doesn't have the proper form of identification. I figure if a child is with a parent they probably don't need I.D. but since I'm not his parent, if the same rules apply. Our parents will be dropping us off and helping us check in/check baggage but they won't be allowed past the security line so I don't know if the security officers will give us any trouble. Anyone know what he would need to bring?

1 AnswerLanguages7 years agoCan someone explain what "fait accompli" means and in this context (Sherlock Holmes)?
I'm reading Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Adventures of the Noble Bachelor for Philosophy. In the story so far, a man named Lord St. Simon, is recounting the events in which his wife had gone missing a few hours after their were wed.
Sherlock: "She brought, I understand, a considerable dowry?"
Lord St. Simon: "A fair dowry. Not more than is usual in my family."
Sherlock: "And this, of course, remains to you, since the marriage is a fait accompli?"
Lord St. Simon: "I really have made no inquires on the subject."
Sherlock: "Very naturally not. Did you see Miss. Doran [his missing wife] on the day before the wedding?"
And so on....
Can someone please explain what "fait accompli" means?
4 AnswersWords & Wordplay7 years agoGood desktop computer for school work and games?
I'd like some suggestions on some decent/good desktop computers. I would like to stick with a PC (unless you have any Mac options that wouldn't eat up all my savings) that is decently priced for what I'd like to use it for which is mainly school work, watching videos/movies, and playing games.
My school work mainly consists of writing papers, doing things on the online college campus, and creating power-points (and sometimes videos) for presentations (I'm going to school to be a teacher). I watch quite a lot of youtube videos, netflix, hulu, DVD's, etc. all on my computer. I also want a computer that will play games without too much lag or crashing. Mainly I play Sims 2/Sims 3 and I want to start playing World of Warcraft soon so I'd like a computer that will run these fairly well and any other games I decide to play later on down the road.
I really don't want to spend more than about $600 (not sure if that's reasonable or not for what I'm asking it to do). What are your suggestions for computers? If not specific computers, what should I look for when looking for a decent computer? What's the best place to buy a desktop (best buy, wal-mart, etc.)? Also I'm mainly looking for just the computer itself, I already have a decent monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but if you have any suggestions for "sets" that works too.
5 AnswersDesktops7 years agoHelped sister dye hair but color is uneven?
So last June/July my sister (who is naturally dirty blonde/light brown) got her hair dyed at the Paul Mitchell School to a lighter shade of blonde (golden blonde). Then after her roots started getting "bad" my mom used a Garnier Nutrisse box dye to get rid of her darker roots & got her hair cut to about shoulder length in October. Then after her roots started growing out again my mom hasn't had time to take her to a salon or do another box dye.
So today she got tired of waiting for my mom & asked me to dye her hair with the same box dye my mom used. Her hair was a light, sorta faded blonde from the middle part of her hair to the ends & the roots to the middle were dirty blonde. I've never dyed hair before except when I helped her add pink streaks using manic panic in the past. I read the instructions over twice before starting & kept checking to make sure I was doing it right the whole time.
We followed the instructions perfectly. We paid more attention to darker areas, and less attention to lighter areas like it said, rinsed out the dye completely after 25 min., & added the conditioner & rinsed it out after 2 min. Then we combed her hair & blow dried it. The ends turned out super light blonde & the originally darker parts are sort of patchy. It looks less ombre than before but it's definitely not all one color. How can we fix this (preferably at home) if you have to wait 6 weeks to dye hair again?

Part A: State what school subjects you love studying, but also talk about your least favorite ones. Express whether these courses are difficult, easy, interesting, useful, useless, etc.
Part A: J'aime beaucoup la biologie. C'est interresant. Aussi, j'aime bien la géographie et l'histoire. C'est important. Je n'aime pas le droit. C'est ennuyeux. Je n'aime pas tellement les maths, mais c'est utile.
Part B: Talk about your schedule during the week and on the weekend. Mention classes you attend this semester and the days and times you study. State what activities you do on the weekend. [Use the verbs we have seen in this unit]
2 AnswersLanguages7 years agoNeed help with a couple permutation/combination math problems?
Okay so I'm working on my homework for my online math class and we are working on permutations and combinations. So I understand permutations are things that need to be in a specific order while combinations do not need to be in any specific order. I'm having some trouble with a couple questions because I'm not sure whether they are permutation or combination or how to go about solving them.
Permutation formula: nPr = n! / (n-r)!
Combination formula: nCr = n! / (n-r)!r!
n is the total number of objects
r is the number of objects being used
n! represents total number of all possible arrangements
r! has us canceling out redundancies
(n-r)! has us canceling out the unused arrangements
1. A small town has used their three-digit telephone prefix "357-". They have been granted a new prefix "358-", How many new phone numbers can be granted before they need a new prefix?
(With this one I'm assuming it's combination since you don't need a specific order and numbers can be used more than once such as 358-3334 and 358-3335, but I don't know how to solve it. The answer in the back of the book is 10,000 but I have no idea how to arrive at that answer. I tried using formulas for permutation and combination but I can't get this number)
2. A basketball team has 9 players, 5 of whom are in the starting lineup.
a. How many different starting lineups are possible?
b. How many different starting lineups are possible if the star must be in the lineup?
(I think I got a. I used the combination formula and my answer was 126. I'm having trouble with b. I think it's permutation but I'm not sure. I'm not sure how to do this one since there is 1 player that has to be used but the rest don't matter.)
3. What do you think will be the value of nPn?
(I just have no clue with this one)
