I think I have alcohol-dependent sleep disorder. Suggestions to help cut back on drinking?
Basically I was under a lot of stress and began drinking every night before bed (I know, that s not the way to go. Hindsight is always 20/20). I know this is a problem and it needs to stop. I m just trying to cut back so I don t need it for sleep. Any tips (other than rehab)?
1 AnswerMental Health3 years agoI worry too much? Please read.?
It's summer. School's out and I have no tests or homework to stress me. Life is pretty good. The problem is, school or summer, I find myself worrying practically every second about what can happen to make life not so good. I know they say statistically 90% of what you worry about never ends up happening. Well I have envisioned quite a few bad things that would make me more than a little upset. But the only reason I worry about them is because they seem like things that have a decent chance of happening. ex. I won't get into the college I want, I'll get fired from my first part-time job, my ex gf will ruin any relationship I get in, I'll get into a car wreck, I won't get the job I want when I'm on my own, etc.
I think I spend too much time worrying and not enough time being optimistic. I know hope is the enemy of hard work, but optimism is still a healthy concern to have. I feel like if I just blow off these worries, I'll be less prepared for them if they come true, which like I said, chances are one out of ten of them will. What can I do to maintain a healthy amount of concern without letting these thoughts cross my mind every second? Because that's what it feels like is happening. I'm not a nervous wreck who's scared of his own shadow or anything. But I worry about future potential problems way more than I probably should.
Mental Health7 years agoQuick YouTube question?
Someone wrote a comment on a YouTube video I watched and he got a lot of replies. I decided to jump in and throw my opinion on the matter too. Unfortunately, in doing this I overlooked the fact that YouTube informs you of everything that happens regarding that comment, even if someone else replies to someone else in that chain of comments. I assume it does this because it thinks you want to know everything that is said on the matter. Anyway, I got sick of opening my Google+ notifications just to see "so-and-so replied to so-and-so's comment on this video." I went back and found my comment in the almost 100 total replies and deleted it. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have done any good as I'm still getting notified about every reply to this guy's post.
It's become somewhat of an argument now (these people have no lives) and I don't see it dying anytime soon. There's like over 100 replies to it now. I use YouTube quite a bit myself, but not to the point where I'm arguing with some random person I don't know over something stupid. I've seen comments get over 300 replies before. I really don't want to keep getting notified about this because I really don't care about it. Is there anything I can do to stop getting notified every time someone says something to this guy? Or do I have to just live with it until it dies down?
2 AnswersYouTube7 years agoCan these things stop me from getting a part-time job? Please read.?
I'm about to turn 18. My birthday is on the 16th. I am going to be a senior when school starts in August. Since last summer when I got a car, I've looked for a job but have had no successful attempts. Last fall, I searched relentlessly for part-time employment but missed any opportunities that may have been present. Soon, I decided I needed to put off searching because it was junior year and my grades were unexpectedly slipping. I was highly frustrated by this and decided there was no way I could hold down a job (along with year-round school sports) whilst getting my grades back up and maintaining them. Once school ended, I had a vacation right away, and when I got back I still had ACT training to focus on. I took the one on June 14th. Now that that's off my back, I've decided to resume my job search, as I knew I would have more time for one in the summer, and thus more luck finding one. There do no seem to be as many places hiring this time around. A lot of good places won't be hiring until later summer/early fall. I'm wondering if certain things about the applications are putting me at a disadvantage: 1. Although I've done some community service, I haven't had official employment, so no history 2. I'm not getting these applications back right away 3. I'm available basically all days of the week, but would only want to work 3-4 days a week, at least to start. I've never even gotten to the interview part. Never been called or emailed. Any tips? Am I doing something wrong?
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment7 years agoIs it weird to ask about a potential problem on Yahoo Answers after I've prayed about it?
I'm a person who worries about everything that can go wrong. They say 90% of what you worry never happens, which is good to know. The things is, I pray for some of these things not to happen. (I'm a protestant and so I also pray and ask God that whatever does happen to me happens for the right reason). I believe that God will do what is right. He always has before, even if I didn't think it was right at first I always have found out that everything that has happened was for the right reason, whether it took me a day, a month, or years to realize it. The only thing is, despite my prayers (and I do have faith in God for sure) is it normal to still ask about my worries here on Yahoo Answers? I'm sure God understands but is it...like...OK?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoWill Def Leppard's music be on iTunes sooner or later?
Like all of their countless fans, I am both surprised and frustrated by the fact that their music isn't on iTunes. They're one of the best known and best liked rock bands of all time. A while ago AC/DC wasn't on there either but that changed, which made a lot of people happy.
Does anyone know why Def Leppard's music (the albums Pyromania, Hysteria, and Euphoria) isn't on iTunes? Is it likely to happen anytime soon? Any information you know, please share. Thanks.

I don't know if Naughty Dog or anyone who has anything to do with the game reads what people say about it here on Yahoo Answers, but does anyone know or have any news on if this is possible or going to happen at all? I know for a fact I'm not the only one that wants this game to be released for the PS3 like the other ones were.
PlayStation7 years agoACT tomorrow. How should I handle today?
This will be my 1st time with the ACT. I've taken some ACT practice tests and tutoring and it has really helped. The last two practice tests point to me having a score somewhere around 26-29, which to me seems like an okay score for the first time, but I will take it again in the future (I'm about to be a senior). I'm trying to get into the University of Cincinnati.
I'm pretty solid on the English section. I find knowing which word or phrase works best to be a piece of cake. On the practice tests, I always finish with time to spare and my score is always 65-70 out of 75.
Math is a bit iffy. My scores on the practice tests are usually around 40-42 out of 60. It used to be in the 30s. but my tutor has helped a lot.
Reading is iffy too, mainly due to the time limit (which I personally think should be a bit more generous, but there's nothing I can do about it) until I took my 5th and final practice test. I started off reading too much. Towards the end I started to search strictly for the answer and did much better than at the beginning. My tutor said since I have 35 minutes and there are 4 passages to spend 8 minutes on each and then spend the last 3 minutes looking over the ones I was unsure on.
Science is 'eh.' For the practice tests, It started as 25/40 and is now around 29-30/40.
My tutor says to not study much the day before, if at all, and just rest my head. What can I do to relax both my head and my nervousness? I'm very nervous for tomorrow.
2 AnswersStandards & Testing7 years agoMovies similar to Pursuit of Happyness and Silver Linings Playbook?
What are some good movies about a man struggling to make it in life or get through the toughness of life. Pursuit of Happyness is all about a man struggling and making it in life despite all things going wrong for him. And Silver Linings Playbook is about a man who made a big mistake and is trying to rebuild his life. What are some similar movies to these two?
4 AnswersMovies7 years agoWhat are some good non-routine jobs like a police officer?
So I'm a junior in high school and for a long time I've had changing ideas of what I want to do when I'm older. My primary idea is a police officer. Mainly because I think i would be good at it. I run cross Country and Track and have decent times in both. I love exercising and lifting so I'd have a good excuse to do all that with a job as a police officer. I live in Ohio and hope to attend the University of Cincinnati since it's in-state and has a great law enforcement program. I also would love the job because it wouldn't necessarily be the same thing everyday. I would hate a job where it's Same **** Different Day.
As for my grades, I'm alright. My GPA is around 3.0, maybe a bit lower or higher. I took the SAT in November and got a score slightly below average (avergae is 1500 and i got 1450). I didn't study much for the SAT but I plan to retake and do better. But my dad always tells me I might come out of college wanting to do something different. I am just curious. What are some other good jobs out there that are good for people who are athletic like me, don't necessarily have a high gpa, and don't involve staring at the same four walls everyday?
1 AnswerTechnology7 years agoI'm going to retake the SAT, but are these scores decent?
So I live in Chagrin Falls, OH. I am a junior in high school. I took the SAT and got the following scores: 470 Reading. 480 Math, and 500 Writing. I plan retake the SAT at least 2 more times (I'm not clear on if the limit is 3 or if there is no limit). I hope to attend the University of Cincinnati.
I definitely will retake it at least twice more, but I have to know, are these scores decent?
2 AnswersStandards & Testing7 years agoWhat should I do this year?
Okay, so every year in track season I try to do a couple minor pranks, particularly locker related ones.. Well there's this guy on the track team (my friend) who is EXTREMELY fun to mess with. Last year in track he left his bag in an unlocked locker. I knew it would be funny if he came back and saw his stuff wasn't there so I grabbed his bag and put it in a different locker. Then a second time the next week. Sure enough, his reactions when he was searching all the lockers for it were PRICELESS. He was swearing and getting very pissed off as he looked for his bag. He even kicked a locker cuz he was so pissed off. Better yet, he blamed the baseball kids, who we have to share a locker room with.
This year I want to go hardcore with the pranks and get some good reactions out of this guy. Any good ideas that would really get funny reactions out of him?

I remember after the second time he talked to the coach and said "Coach, can you talk to the Athletic Office? The Baseball kids keep moving my stuff." (We call them the baseball "kids" because they're mostly all freshman) This also makes sense because the baseball kids actually were taking track members' stuff.
This year I want to go hardcore with the pranks and get some good reactions out of this guy. Now I have a few ideas in mind but I'd also like to hear what some of you have to say. Here are the ideas I have in mind:
- Put a spare lock on his locker which obviously he wouldn't know the combination to. He'd probably have to contact the janitor to fix this one.
- If he wises up and puts a lock on, and it's a black one, take a sharpie or black marker and cover up the numbers and symbols so he can't see them.
So those are my ideas. I don't want to steal his stuff or put it somewhere he can't find. I'm not trying to be mean. After all, I am friends with this guy. I just want to get some good reactions out of him is all. It's HILARIOUS when he flips out. Like the way he did when I simply moved his bag into a different locker and he had to look for it. So let me know if any of you have any good ideas. Thanks. Trolololololo
1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoShouldn't she have been expelled?
Okay, so there's this chick in my grade, who, let's just say, isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Well, based on several stories I've heard, I believe at some point in our high school career she brought her dead cat to school. (This chick has no common sense and didn't even know what year 9/11 happened when told to write about it). I heard she was suspended or at least got a detention. It's really none of my business, but isn't something this messed up be expulsion-worthy?

1 AnswerSingles & Dating8 years agoGood books/movies that are romantic but not over the top romantic?
Okay, this is gonna sound weird, but I'm a 17 year old guy and I've recently sort of developed a liking of semi-romantic movies/books. This is particularly due me seeing Silver Lingings Playbook and reading The Hunger Games trilogy. Maybe I just have a thing for Jennifer Lawrence.
Anyways, what I'm looking for are books/movies that have decent amount of romance but not completely over the top, like Silver-Linings Playbook. It's romantic and funny and can still be taken seriously, you know? Also nothing cheesy, like Scott Pilgrim. I hate cheesy movies.
3 AnswersMovies8 years agoFamous heavy metal/nu metal bands?
OK, so I'm really into the metal genre. The problem though, is 95% of it is pure garbage, and I mean it just plain SUCKS. I hate deathcore/grindcore/ whatever you call those bands that just scream the whole time and you can't even tell what's being said. Pig Destroyer is a perfect example.
Now, I like the good kind of metal, like Metallica.
Here's the thing. The only bands I seem to like are the ones that hit it big. The famous bands.
Here are artists I like:
AC/DC
Metallica
Megadeth
Black Sabbath
Dio
Rob Zombie
White Zombie
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Ozzy Osbourne
Guns N' Roses
Avenged Sevenfold
Korn
Five Finger Death Punch
Slipknot
So what are some good bands that I'd like. That are FAMOUS. As in, wether you listen to it or not, you've likely at least heard of them.
