I'm a junior in high school, and I consider myself to be fairly intelligent. Both my parents are successful engineers and sometimes I feel like I don't live up to how good they were at school.

My schedule is challenging, filled with AP's and honors classes. But I only have a B+ average or so overall. I've come to realize that there are smart people who are #1 and at the top, and even though I strive for that, I'm always the #10 or 15 that no one cares about or ever will acknowledge. Why do I even bother trying to reach those standards when I know I'm always going to be the underdog?

Anyone else in this position?

I am 17 and have had braces for a year now.

My orthodontist did not want to pull teeth out on me to fix my overbite, so she tied my front four teeth together, and I am wearing elastics and springs to push my other top teeth back.

There is a gap forming on either side of my front 4 teeth, eventually I guess they will be pushed back to close the gap.

I think this is called a retraction?

Does anybody know how long that might take?

I took AP Bio because I thought I'd be great at it, but after the first 3 quizzes and 1 test, I have a 75. Ugh.

We have around 2-3 quizzes per week and a test every week or so as well. So do you think I can bring my grade up by the end of the quarter-- which ends November 12?

I want atleast a 90 :/

I'll admit- I used to be annoying not too long ago. I used to put people on the spot by teasing their weaknesses, and I didn't know how to chill out and have a conversation, so instead I used to ask people questions to get to know them, but they may have felt were too personal and snoopy.

Anyway, in the span of 2 years I've tried to change, and recently I realized that people act differently around me because they have a bad perception of me. It's almost obvious sometimes that they don't feel like talking to me.

How can I change their opinion after I've made a bad impression?

I'm a girl who is tall (5'8") and pretty skinny.

Most guys I know are pretty much around my height.

But when they hold out their arms to hug me I go UNDER their arms and put my hands on their upper back.... someone even commented on how weird I hug once.

And it's already awkward enough to hug me because I'm so skinny.

How would you hug one of your guy friends to greet them or say goodbye?

I'm a high school girl who has a normal life, normal family, and normal friends. My life has been generally positive, I haven't experienced any deaths or extreme tragedy to the people I am close to.

I should be grateful, but sometimes there's a part of me that is waiting for some kind of grief or deepset issue of my own? Is this weird?

I just got rubberbands to wear on my braces. I wear them nights and probably only 2/3 of my day when I'm awake. would this be considered "excellent cooperation" with the elastics? Also, does it really matter if I miss wearing them for just a few hours?

I know that if I am good with them it may even lessen the treatment time, and I definitely want to get these off.

I found that silk works really well with my hair, it makes it really soft and manageable. Any good shampoos with silk extract in it?

I haven't washed it yet but I still want to keep the baby softness of the fleece. How can I do that?

I sleep everyday at 1 and wake up at 6:45, then sleep from usually 4:30pm-6:30pm, plus or minus half an hour. and then I do homework til 12:30 or so.

I don't think that this is healthy at all, but what do you guys think? and what are your suggestions for better timings?

I'm writing an article for my school newspaper for the first time. This one is pretty nerve-wracking though because I'm doing it on a new club in my school, and I don't want the club advisers to be disappointed by the way I present them.

So there's this guy and we used to be friends, but last year he started being a shallow jerk, only friends with people who he would 'look cool with' or people who would give him homework. I was none of the above but I thought we were still friends so I used to play around with him, but he interpreted it as me being a jerk, so we grew apart.

I started to take the defensive and I got pretty nasty to him sometimes, but not that he was nice to me. The point is now he's getting nicer but the instinct when I see him is to be mean!

If I started being nice to him, do you think we'd be friends again?

However, I come home from school everyday and fall asleep on the couch for like 2 hours. Just from a regular school day. Even though school is tiring, sleeping is unnecessary and I feel like by sleeping, I am literally turning my stamina into mush.

I never joined a sports team because of lack of interest, I'm also not in any music programs in school. Could this seriously hurt me when applying for college? Do you know of any ways I can be more dynamic outside of school?

I am really regretting not going to the initial meetings or joining a music class..

I have thin hair and haven't gotten layers in a while. If I get bangs for the first time, will I have enough hair for them to cut bangs in the front but still have hair on the top?
