Hypermobility, what does it mean for me?
I'm 35 and have had regular knee joint pain for about 20 years. It has always been said it is Chondromalacia patellae, which is true but finally I got to see a physiotherapist and she tested my joints and said I scored 6/9 of the hypermobility scale.
I know little of this and many things I have read have rung rather true with me but I've read some other more unpleasant things too.
I've got some exercises to start helping my core muscle strength and there may be a referral to a group for some more exercises further down the line.
But, in the long run... What can I expect? What does this all mean?
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management8 years agoHow long should I expect this pain for?
I had a molar extracted on Thursday and the pain has been rather intense ever since and hasn't really calmed at all.
I'm taking all possible pain relief pills I have (Codiene, paracetamol, ibroprfen) It only takes the edge of things.
Is this normal? My other tooth didn't hurt like this.
2 AnswersDental9 years agoDriver Display problem?
Several times a day my laptop freezes and then goes black. After a moment it comes back on really very bright and a bubble pops up saying "Driver Display something or other has stopped working and is recovered". What is this?
It is since I got Windows 7. It happens to my friends laptop too.
Is it a W7 problem or something else? What can I do to solve it?
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoHow to prevent/stop sore breasts?
I get sore breasts anything up to 8-10 days prior to my period. I have tried Evening Primrose and it helped to begin with but not any more. Also tried Star Flower oil but didn't help.
Anything else I can try?
Oh I'm on the pill (loestrin) and at first I had no problem but now the breasts are sore. I'm only small (32a) and to have to hold them when I take my bra off is just daft!
Please help.
5 AnswersWomen's Health9 years agoHow can I open up to my support worker?
I have been seeing my worker now for 2 years (have had many more before her) She is part of the local mental health team.
I just can not open up to her, she asks how I am and I'm always unable to say more than OK or fine. Often when things go quiet she will just end the session and make another app, sometimes after 5 Min's out of the hour slot. She knows I'm not one to easily talk about much but she doesn't help. I've tried to help things by writing to her but she never mentions the letters and if I ask if she got it she thanks me for it and changes subject.
This does not help at all. I'm slipping back into bad times and I need help but I can't seem to get it from her.
How can I be more open and get her to help?
1 AnswerMental Health10 years agoCan you help me to not cut?
I've slipped up after a year without self harm. Last month I ended up cutting and it was bad, severed a tendon, just got out of a cast and am having trouble still with it. I was in the hospital (psych ward) for a week afterwards.
But despite this I am getting really bad urges to cut right now. I've had an anti anxiety pill and so far it hasn't helped. I've tried playing with my cats but they aren't in the mood! It is their sleepy time.
Urge is so strong and I don't know what to try next to prevent it.
5 AnswersMental Health10 years agoCan you help with my Smear fear?
I'm 34 and have had one smear test so far (I had my first before the age was changed to 25) and since then I've not been able to bring myself to have another.
It took so many tries for me to get the courage to allow Dr (whom I trust totally) to do the test. And it wasn't painful or anything, I just can't handle the emotional side. I have been abused in the past (damn I hate admitting it) My GP knows this an dI get some meds to calm me prior to having a Smear test but I'm just too scared to go again and I keep getting reminders, the last came with a hand written post it note from the surgery manager to contact them about it. As I'm way overdue.
Are they necessary to have? HOw can I bring myself to get it done without a major panic and freak out?
5 AnswersWomen's Health10 years agoWhat is your view on my weight?
I am 5foot 4 and female. I weigh 7.9stone. I'm not sure if this is OK as I think I look rather wobbly in places (thighs, hips, belly) Some say I'm a fine weight others say tone up etc.
Am I OK or am I fat?
6 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agoHow can I tame my oily skin?
I'm 34 and am so fed up with my oily skin. I use a matte powder which is OK for a bit but I can't keep reapplying it throughout the day.
The oil absorbing papers are useless as I need several pieces each time I use them and the expense is just beyond my means.
I use oil free face washes and moisturisers. I get spots still, not a lot like before but enough to need facial washes for it.
Please, any ideas/advice would be great.

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoHair dye question want quick 10 points?
So I'm about to dye my hair and the instructions say to wet hair without washing, which I have done. Then it says to towel dry.
So I need to know, do I dry it until it is proper dye or do I leave it a little damp.
It just says towel dry, nothing else
7 AnswersHair1 decade agoWhat is this white gunk in my mouth?
OK before I start, it is NOT oral thrush.
Every morning I have this gross white stringy like gunk in my mouth. I get round lips and I can wash that easily. I'll brush teeth and floss use mouth wash but I can still run tongue or finger round mouth and this stuff is there.
It is a gunky white stringy stuff that makes me feel horrid and unclean.
It goes after a while, Like after I've run fingers and tongue round mouth loads.
What is this and how can I make it go away?

6 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat to do when Dr's get it wrong?
I've had foot pain for a year now and at first I thought it was a niggle and I get aches pains etc so didn't go to GP until I started to have trouble walking and was in tears with pain.
She referred me to a Podiatrist who said possible stress fracture so I had an x-ray The reporting person at the hospital said it was all clear, no fracture. The Podiatrist said the same when he saw the x-ray.
So it was said to be soft tissue damage, I was given insoles but with no help.
then I saw another Podiatrist and he said it was a neuroma and I'd need a steroid injection.
I went other day for it and the Consultant (whom I not seen before) and on checking my foot he pulled up x-ray and immediately saw a fracture.
For 6 months no one saw it. I am quite angry as it has been painful and as I have a slight lowered bone density it hasn't healed too well as they said there was no break.
I am unsure as to what to do about this.
Angry/frustrated/disappointed and lacking faith in them
Any ideas? Suggestions?

On the letter it says to rest for 2 days... Will it really hurt afterwards too?
What should I expect?
4 AnswersOther - Health & Beauty1 decade agoBass music causing damage?
I work at a venue that has a lot of gigs, some, well many, being very loud (over 100decibels) so I wear ear defenders (the big 'can' ones)
But often the bass is loud and I can feel my internal organs literally bopping to the music, my whole chest thuds with it. Sometimes I feel like I'm gonna fall.
I have seen ppl actually collapse due to it being too much. Whole front row fell.
So as I am there often and get this effect, can it cause any damage to me?
My organs and chest feel like they could go wrong.
Is it possible?
1 AnswerOther - Health & Beauty1 decade agoWhat BMI is considered dangerous for anorexics?
I know I have anorexia and I am seeing my GP and a support worker for it. There is an eating disorders team but they only treat people who are needing inpatient treatment and/or are critical or medically compromised.
I have been told I don't meet this criteria therefore I get no help. My GP keeps an eye on my physical things and my support worker is... well... useless! Has no knowledge or experience in eating disorders.
Until I am really ill I am in limbo. Apparently I am too ill to have therapy as I can't function cognitively which is kind of true but even so I have no direct eating disorder help.
At what point do people start to help?
What BMI is considered bad enough for needing treatment. I can't do this on my own Absolutely not. and it is getting harder each week.
Any ideas? Advice?
(please no nasty/negative comments I feel bad enough already)

4 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat detox diet would be best?
I want to do a cleanse, as I am feeling sluggish and yukky. I'm very bloated despite not being constipated or excess of food.
I want to clean myself out.
Not for weight loss as such but I want to be empty and clean and start afresh.
