  • How did they originally figure out what parts of plants to eat?

I'm just curious. Was it just trial and error? Because like rhubarb the leaves are poisonous but you can eat the stalks, and you can't eat the seeds of an apple. Some berries and mushrooms are poisonous. And then there are other things you only eat part of like carrots and celery and stuff, so I'm just wondering how did we originally figure out what parts of plants are okay to eat and when they're ripe?

  • Can you get AIDS from an animal?

I have a welsh corgi mixed with 1/4 queensland healer, named Cinnamon. Okay so today my mom accidentally stepped on my dog's paw, and she (the dog) yelped. So I made the dog stand still so I could look at her paw. Well my dog has had a wart on her paw for a while now. And the vet said it's benign and isn't really doing anything and it will cost a couple thousand to remove so we haven't removed it. So I was looking at her paw and the wart was bleeding a little bit, so we cleaned it up with a Kleenex and put some colloidal silver on it. In this process I got a little bit of blood on my hand. Should I be worried? After all historically AIDs originally came from men practicing bestiality with sheep. I washed my hands good with soap. I don't have any open cuts. My dog has had all her shots and doesn't have AIDs that I know of and I recently got a tetanus booster. Also does anyone have any ideas of what to do about my dog's wart? Over the counter wart removers don't work, and she won't leave a rubber band on it or wear a sock out of the rag pile. My grandma has suggested putting a nail in boiling water and then carefully putting the head of the nail on the wart. She says that's what they would do to the dairy cows when she was little. We don't want to do that because we don't want to accidentally burn the dog instead of the wart, and we're not sure the dog will let us as she is afraid of the vacuum.

  • Computer Proxy Server Help?

About a month ago my computer came up with a pop-up saying my computer was being invaded by some virus worm thing, and to download this free anti virus now to get rid of it. Last time it did that I said yes, and it turns out that the "antivirus" really is a virus and I had to wipe my computer. This time I decided to be smart or so I thought. I told the popup to go away and kept closing the pop up every time it came up and instead activated a 60 day trial of Norton Antivirus. Apparently Norton activated a proxy server thing whatever that is and now I can't access the internet. I am able to access firefox because I googled it on another computer and it told me how I could get fire fox to go around it. But all other internet things won't work, internet, explorer, firefox, iTunes story, Yahoo Instant Messenger, and Yahoo can't attach my essays for school for me to e-mail them to myself. Basically I need to figure out how to get rid of this proxy server whatever it is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Do pennies derail trains?

I've recently heard a lot in books and songs and the like about people putting pennies on the railroad track to flatten them. I was wondering is that legal in the United States, and if so would that derail the train? It sounds like a cool idea but I don't want to be the cause of some horrible accident. A few cool pennies aren't worth lives.

  • Honestly does anyone else do this?

When I see someone who looks familiar, but I can't tell whether or not it is the person I say the person's name. If they turn around and respond, then it's them and we talk. If it's not them they'll think I'm talking to someone else and keep going without responding and I let it drop. I'm taking a creative writing class, and I had one of the character's in my story do this and everyone was confused. What do you do when you aren't quite sure it's the person because it's been so long or it's that back of their head or something?

  • For parents who don't believe in spanking their children what would you do instead?

What would you do if you caught your child playing with matches or engaging in otherwise dangerous activity? I know a lot of people say they would talk to their kids, but talking isn't really punishment, and it shouldn't be punishment as you want to keep the lines of communication open. I'm just trying to understand the other side's point of view. I do not live in Sweden, growing up when I misbehaved my parents spanked me. I turned out fine and am still close to my parents. I won't be having kids for some time, but I think that when I do I will use spanking as a disciplinary tool when necessary. I've done a research paper on the topic and I understand non-spankers' stance and arguments against it, I'm just wondering what would you do for situations in which you really can't afford to tell your child twice due to the risks to his or her safety.

  • Does anyone besides me get song lyrics mixed up?

When I was little I failed to understand that Feliz Navidad was in another language and I thought it was saying "Fleas naughty dog" I thought the Sesame street theme song said "where the angels meet" apparently it says "where the air is sweet" I thought Avril lavigne was saying "you'll be like a muffin," not "you'll be next to nothing." The other day I was listening to the radio, and it was saying wild windows and I was thinking that doesn't make sense it probably says wild wind blows, apprently it's Stevie Nicks one winged dove. John Micheal Montgomery sings "she's an eight she's a nine she's a ten I know" not "she's a lake she's an eye she's a tin I know." Elvis's Return to sender says return to sender not return to Sydney. Anyways I have countless accounts of when I was thinking the song was saying something else, and I was just wondering if anyone else does too, and if so what. Thanks. 10 points to the funniest.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a hold of Gianna Jessen's book?

It's titled Aborted and Lived to Tell About it. I looked at the local library, which is connected to other libraries. I'm writing a pro-life persuasive speech for my speech class. Thanks.

  • How do you turn off capitals?

I was typing a paper and I tried to capitalize the first word of a sentence using shift and I accidentally hit something else at the same time and now it wants to write the whole thing in caps. It's not cap lock I already checked. My computer skills are very limited thanks.
