  • How do you know what career is right for you?

I'm 21, turning 22 in January, and I have no direction as to where I want to go with my life as far as careers go. I know I'm very detail oriented, big on grammar and punctuation (though I'll probably mess up a bit in here because I'm so scatter-brained right now), definitely interested in helping people in some form, always have been interested in drugs (like knowing which medication does what, and why), and I've always ALWAYS been into the beauty industry. Obviously my interests are a little conflicting but I'm determined to figure this out.

I've considered being a writer but that doesn't seem to pay much unless you're really good and get hired at some exclusive paper/magazine.

My whole family looks down on people who are stylists in salons and I feel like I'd be letting them down if I chose that.

Nursing has always seemed interesting but I can't always see myself doing that. Some days, I feel like "YES THAT'S WHAT I SHOULD DO" but others, I'm just eh about it.

I guess my question is: how did you figure out what you wanted, and was your family supportive? Did you think they would be?

I know it's MY life and I should do what I want..but everything seems so small compared to my friends who are becoming nurses and such.

  • gallbladder removal a week ago..now what?

I had my gallbladder removed a week ago today using the laparascopic method.

Tonight is a friend of mine's birthday and I was wondering when I can eat greasy food again? I know there will be side effects but what are they? The dr. didn't give me a very straight-forward answer when I asked, and I refuse to ask my family as all they do is jump my case. It's just a question and I would like to plan what I can or can't eat tonight. Thanks!

  • What jobs are nurturing and compassionate?

I took a career test (a free online one) and it told me i'm a "people person - You are very gifted at dealing with other people. Your compassion and empathy make you a natural for any careers that require nurturing and encouraging people on a daily basis."

i'm not taking this quiz to heart by any means but it got me thinking for sure. what types of jobs require these qualities?

    thanks!

  • are flat screen tv's compatible w/ satellite?

i was suppose to get a flat screen tv for Christmas because my current tv is heading towards the light, if you know what i mean. but now i've been informed that i have to get a "tv" instead of a "monitor" because with a monitor i would need my own reciever. now, i have no idea what that means, but we have satellite if that's any indicator. i think maybe he means i'd need a seperate dish? (both tv's run from the same one, currently) idk.

    thanks for your help =]

  • did you grow up w/an alcoholic parent?

i did. and i think it put in my head that i should never drink, since alcoholism is genetic. long story short, i ended up moving out of the house as a sort of slap in the face for my parent. however, ever since, i'm so terrified that if my friends or boyfriend or anyone i'm close to takes a drink, they're gonna end up the same way and it makes me so irritated that people do it! i feel like my annoyance w/ it comes from growing up in that environment, but i'm not sure. it's the whole atmosphere that comes with it that i hate. you know, "i was drunk so it's not actually cheating" that sort of thing..basically excuses. idk.

i guess my question is did it effect (sorry if that's the wrong spelling) you similarily, and if not, then how so?

i know it's not my friends problem, it was my moms but that still doesn't seem to change my mind.

  • i need deodorant help (ladies)?

Okay, is it just me or do you other ladies have to re-apply deodorant throughout the day?

I cannot find a deodorant/anti prespirant that works for me. I use degree every day and it blocks out wetness but it doesn't do too much for the smell. it just smells like bo mixed w/the fragrance of the deodorant. I've tried Secret Clinical and it didn't go on smoothly at all nor did it do anything a deodorant usually does.

Would it make a difference trying different brands or do I just need to go to a doctor?

What brands are the most reputable for working well and would setting my deodorant with like baby powder help as far as odor goes?

    thanks for your help!

  • what are your thoughts on the industrial piercing?

I know that pain is pretty much only really...know-able (i can't think of the right word) to each individual as we all have different pain tolerances. But I'm gonna ask anyway.

I've got my rook and tragus done, I had my nose done but I had to take it out, and I've got some in my lobes and I used to have the top cartilege done (where the industrial would go).

So is the industrial piercing the same (pain-wise) as far as the cartilege goes? I imagine it would be but I could be wrong.

Also, do you have an industrial, and how do they go about piercing it, blah blah so on and so forth. And are you happy with it? How long did it take to heal? Do you need to wear your hair up all the time?

I'm thinking of getting one soon and I'm just really curious. I've been thinking about it for a while but I want some input..

    Thanks!
