  • How do you deal with people who "tune out" during conversation?

Someone told me that possibly the conversation could be boring at that time or a person may have ADD. My boyfriend does this sometimes and usually I just don't say anything for a while. Not sure how to deal with this because I do not know many people who "tune out" during conversation. How would you handle this without making the person feel defensive? Does anyone know people who do this? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • What was your first year of Graduate school like?

I am beginning Grad school this summer and I hear that the first year is very difficult. Was it really a huge transition for you between Undergrad and Grad? What were some of your experiences? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • What is the best shampoo to use for someone with Box Braids?

I am planning on putting Box braids in (doing this myself using a tutorial) for the first time using synthetic hair (100% Kankelon). I have had braids before done by a braider so I know about the maintenance. What are some of the best shampoos out there to use when you have medium sized Box braids for those who have or have had them? What oils do you use to keep moisture? Leave-in conditioner options? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • Is there such option as a storage company that also ships to the destination you are moving to?

I will be moving from a two-bedroom apartment in mid-June from Baltimore, MD to Honolulu, HI for Graduate school. I need to find a storage company that also ships furniture and belongings to my future destination in Hawaii. I heard about Public storage for storage but do they also ship your stuff at a future date? PODS is another option I have heard about but they seem expensive especially to the destination I'm moving to. Any suggestions? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • Are T-d and MMR immunization shots the same thing?

I recently got accepted into a Graduate program in Hawaii relocating from Baltimore, MD. When I registered a couple of years ago to take classes at my current university I was required to get a "T-d shot" before going to class. Now for the Graduate program in Hawaii I am required to have an "MMR" shot before going to class. Are these the same shots and just one region has a different name for it than the other? Or is an MMR an entirely different immunization shot? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • Moving to Hawaii for Grad school and have to work. What cool jobs can I choose from?

I will be starting Grad school Fall 2011 in Honolulu, HI for School Counseling. I have to work so I want to find a job that will be cool, different and interesting. I've never worked with animals, or outdoors, in travel or hotels before. My previous jobs have been Bank teller, Retail, and University work. Not very interesting jobs to have; now I would like something a little more fun. What suggestions do you have for jobs in Hawaii that I can work in the morning while attending classes in the evening? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • Are there any stores that sell an assortment of beads small enough for friendship bracelets?

I just bought this "How to" book to assist me in making friendship bracelets as a hobby. I would like to add beads (colorful ones) to the bracelets but cannot find a store that sells assorted ones in a package that are small enough for friendship bracelets. Any that you know of? Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • What are some full/part- time jobs you have had as a Graduate student?

I will be starting Graduate school in the Fall in Hawaii and will have to work. I know I will not have as much time to work as an Undergrad student but I still need to find a job. Many of the classes for my program are at night so I will work during the day. I need some ideas for "easy" not as complex kinds of jobs most Graduate students have/get because I will of course need time for school work. Any suggestions? Thanks for all your helpful responses.

  • What attire should I wear for a Graduate school interview via Skype?

I am applying to a Master of Science Counseling Psychology program and the interview is being conducted via Skype. The school is located out of state so this is the option for the interview that was given. This is my first time using Skype and I am not really sure how much the person on the other side can see and how it will be seen by them. Have any of you used Skype for interview purposes? What attire and color (for a female) did you wear? Pants or Skirt? Casual or Dressy? Thank you for your helpful responses.

  • What if the Graduate school you are applying to does not have Assistantships and Fellowships?

The Graduate program I am applying to is a small school and I was recently told that they do not offer Assistantships or Fellowships for my program which is Master of Science Counseling Psychology. Is this something that happens often? How else besides through loans do I finance my Graduate study? I already have quite a few loans I am currently paying on for Undergrad. However, this is the school I would like to attend and am waiting for their accept or reject response. Thanks for your helpful responses.

  • Attending Graduate school in Hawaii, What is it like?

I am applying to Graduate school at Chaminade U for Spring 2011 and I was wondering what it's like attending a university in Hawaii. • What jobs do you perform as a Graduate or Research Assistant in Graduate school?

I am planning on attending Graduate school in Spring 2011 and I recently found out about possibly applying to become a Graduate Assistant or Research Assistant to help pay for Graduate school. I am not familiar with what kind of work you would be expected to perform as a new Grad student.

What are you expected to do as a GA or RA? Anyone out there already doing this kind of work while in Grad school? What is an example of typical pay to be a GA or an RA? How often do you get paid the stipend? Who do you ask to find out what is available at your intended school? What are some of the benefits of working as a GA or RA?

I will not have a job and will be an out of state student so I would need a supplemental income while on campus? I have already applied for financial aid through FAFSA. I heard Grad school is difficult so I am not sure if I should try to get a part time job. I need advice. Thank you for your helpful responses and please do include details no matter how long.

  • Is a School Counselor a high paying job in Hawaii?

I am going to Grad school in 2011 for School Counseling and was wondering when I move to Hawaii if this salary will be enough to live off of. My fiance' is an Assistant Principal currently and he was also wondering if Hawaii will pay enough in both of these areas. Any one living in Hawaii know of people in these two fields? Are they struggling like those people there without Master's degrees? Thanks for your helpful responses.
