  • Where would you take your car for an MOT?

My car is due for it's MOT next month and was wondering where is best to go? Over the years, I have never gone back to the same place, usually opting for the cheapest at the time.

I do tend to use the same garage for immediate repairs so would be tempted to use them, only worries are that if it does fail, I may have to pay for a retest fee if I take it away and get my brother in law to do the repairs.

The other options I have got it to use MOT centres that only MOT and don't do repairs - there should be no incentive to fail (but I have used MOT Max in the past and failed, passed upon retest and given a list of advisaries only to go elsewhere the next year and most of the advisaries didn't come up upon the new test).

I have heard about Council run test centres - never having used them before, not sure what they are like. Has anyone had any dealings with them? as far as I know, they only do MOT's so again, should have no incentive to fail you.

Any suggestions to the above, I would be grateful.

    Thanks :)

  • Where is best to stay down South?

Me and my mum would like to go away down south this summer, but have no idea where is best. I have been to Devon once last year to Teignmouth, and it was enjoyable, but could do with some ideas.

We will be going with my 11 year old son and my 5 year old neice.

Any suggestions? We would prefer South West area

    Thanks

  • UK users, which Phone and Broadband provider is best?

Out of the following providers, which is best for phone and broadband:

    Sky

    Orange

    Talk Talk

    Tesco

I have read reviews on all of these, and none of them came back brilliant.

I have just moved home and was with Sky, but it will take to the end of November for them to connect me back up. Pathetic really so i'm thinking of changing providers.

What would you recommend? Is it worth waiting for Sky or transfer to someone else?

    Thanks

  • Is it better to have loved and lost or never at all?

The saying goes that its better to have loved someone and then lost them (whether through berevement or a break up) than to never have loved at all.

    What are your thoughts?

At the moment, I think the total opposite, i'd rather never have given my heart to someone and feel the way I do now. It was easier before.

  • Impartial advice needed?

I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 years now and as things were going well, we decided to move in together last summer. We never argued and it seemed like the best thing to do at the time. It all changed once both me and my now 10yr old son moved in. We gave up our rented house and the majority of things in it to move into his own house. Things were ok for a while, then the arguments started - and it's always the same one, cleaning.

I would say I am not a messy person, I do my bit, but I don't feel the need to clean as much as he does. It seems to be worse at the moment as I am currently off work for the holidays (I work in a school) so it's like he expects me to clean because I have spare time. If this was the only thing, I could handle it. But it's like he is trying to dominate the relationship, as he has specifically told me that most of my family are not welcome to come to the house now following an incident earlier in the year.

With all this, I feel like I am falling out of love with him and I am unsure what to do for the best. As I lost everything to move in with him, I hardly have anything left. My sister has said we can go and live with them for as long as we need to in order to get sorted. That is all good and well if she lived in the same area - she doesn't, she lives 70 miles away from me. Which poses another question. I would not be able to continue in my job as the distance to travel each day is ludicrous and costly, it would cost half a tank of petrol per day!!

So now i'm in a quandry. Do I stay with him and try to work things out? Do I move out and stay in the area so I still have a job, but I have no house? Or do I quit altogether and move in with my sister?

  • Trying to get from Watford Junction to London. What is the best way?

I am going to London at the end of the month and will be stopping at Watford. I was planning on getting to London by train, but I have noticed that there is also a tube station at Watford Junction, although it doesn't seem to go direct into London - I would like to be near London Euston. Is there an easier and cheaper route via the tube? I will be traveling with my 10yr old son too and we have never travelled alone to this area.

  • Have I done the right thing?

I was a single mother who lived in her own house. I met my boyfriend and me and my son moved in with him after a couple of years. He owned his house where I was renting even though my house was bigger! Anyway, I had to get rid of a lot of things to move in with him. Its now nearly a year down the line, and I may be regretting my decision. We seem to have the same arguments about cleaning and him not feeling appreciated etc. Whats really put the boot in is his mother dictating what I should be doing! I feel lost and I don't know what to do. Should I try harder knowing full well I am never going to fully be what he wants me to be, or should I give it up and be without anything?

  • How long do you think it will take to paint my son's bedroom?

The room is like a box room, well a bit bigger! Its 9ft x 13ft and i'm painting it on my own! Closest answer wins - thats when I have completed it :-) And so there is no confusion, i'm only painting the walls, no ceiling or glossing the skirting boards/doors. Thanks :-)

  • Where is the best place to buy a certain style of swimsuit from in the UK?

I would like to buy a swimsuit, but not your ordinary kind.

I want one that has the style of shorts on the bottom, as opposed to the high leg ones you usually get, and goes into a halter neck style at the top. I suppose you could class it as an old fashioned style of swimsuit.

I live in the UK (Nottinghamshire), and ideally I would like to try it on before I buy as I am the classic pear shape, so need to try first.

Any ideas where I would be able to find one from?

    Thanks :)

  • What is the best way to resolve a problem in ebay?

A buyer won an item from me to which they paid, and I sent the item out the next day. They have now opened a case against me saying they haven't received the item, nor have I responded to an email from them.

I never received such email and I am highly annoyed at this person contacting me this way. I am not dishonest, I always respond to emails sent and this is why I am so annoyed.

I have responded to the case, but as I have never been in this situation, I have no idea how ebay will respond to their claims. I know I sent it, if it didn't get there, I have no idea why. I do have a certificate of postage, but don't know how far this will go in my favour. I don't want to be forced into giving a refund when I know I am not in the wrong and I feel that they do actually have the item, but are not playing game and are trying to dupe me. I know I can't prove this.

How do I resolve this? I don't want to lose the case, and I certainly don't want to be left negative feedback over something that is not my fault.

Has anyone else had to deal with something like this?

    Thanks :)

  • How can I make the bloke see sense about his drinking habits?

The bloke drinks far too much but doesn't see it as a problem and won't discuss it. Roughly, he's drinking a bottle of wine plus up to 4 cans of beer a night, every night! How can I make him see sense about his drinking habits? I wouldn't say he is an alcoholic, but is definitely dependant on it. Thanks
