  • Can anybody recommend me a good book to read?

I just can't seem to find a book that catches my attention, so I thought I should ask some of ya'll for recommendations. I'm 14, so I don't want something too hard. Here's a list of books that I've read recently and absolutely fell in love with.

    The Giver by Lois Lowry

The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

    Animal Farm by George Orwell

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Matched and Crossed both by Ally Condie

Basically any Enchanted book by Gail Carson Levine (Ella Enchanted, Fairest, Ever, etc)

    Going Bovine by Libba Bray

    Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

    Maximum Ride by James Patterson

    Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry

    Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

Honestly, I'll read just about anything that catches my attention (as long as it's not horror. I hate horror books.) I'd love it if you guys just gave me some books that are around my level and that you enjoyed. Thank you so much. :)

  • My clarinet sounds very airy?

My clarinet sounds very airy and I think my tone kinda sucks. I can't really figure out why. My higher octave notes sound pretty good, and so do my lower notes. It's only when I play open G to about Bb does it sound airy and dry. Any suggestions?

If it helps, I've been playing clarinet for 3 years and use a 2 1/2 reed. Oh, and I also play bass clarinet and contra-alto clarinet.

  • Can anyone who works at a fast food place answer these questions for me please?

Okay, so I have this project I have to do. I have to interview a person who works at a fast food place about customer service. I don't have time (or transportation :/) to a fast food place. I TECHNICALLY have to ask the manager but honestly, who has time to answer a little girl's questions while they're doing business. I don't want to make this up just for the sake of turning in an assignment. I'm actually sorta interested in learning about this. So can you please answer these questions for me? Thanks!

Company Name (McDonalds? Burger King? etc.)

    Who are the customers?:

What is the customer service policy?:

    What type of training? Examples?:

    Recommendations for working with customers:

  • What to do? Help please?

My family is moving to a new city, but I want to stay with my cousins's family to finish up my middle school experience, but I also feel like I would miss my family dearly when they are gone. I'm also afraid of my cousin's family not accepting me because their habits and expectations are much higher than what my family expects.

But if I move, I'm terrified of being the new kid. What if they don't like me? I hate being a loner with no friends, and I'm just not that good at communicating and being fun and eccentric. Also, it is my last year, and I'd like to graduate middle school with my friends. I'm also afraid that moving to a new city will affect my education because of testing and curriculum and such.

  • Help? Period is scaring me D:?

Okay, so yesterday night, I got my period. Everything seemed normal. I went to bed, and the next day, my pad had a brownish color instead of the usual red. I decided to push it aside. Then, in the afternoon, I checked my pad again. Still the same brown blood, and much less than I had expected.

Now, I barely have any blood. It seems as if it stopped completely. I'm worried.

Oh, by the way. This is the 3rd Time I've had my period, and I don't know what my "regular bleeding" is yet.

  • Do you think my speech/essay is good?

Okay, so I'm in the 6th grade. I have to write a speech in a certain format (Introduction, 3 Reasons, Ending. So I have to write about an American invention, and why it is so great. Can you give me some feedback on my essay/speech? (Its techically an essay, but I have to write it like I'm giving a speech.)

Today, we have many different writing utensils, used for many different purposes. One of the most commonly used, is the crayon. Crayons were enjoyed by people many many years ago, but the one you and I see today was invented by Edward Binney and Harold Smith, the founders of "Crayola". Their crayons were less messy and stiff, while allowing better, more creative art to be created. Also, it allows young children to use it because it is also safer and more durable. I absolutely adored this invention when I was younger, and I still love it today.

To begin with, nobody likes messy and hard to use tools. Especially if you are trying to create a masterpiece. When using crayons, power or dust won't be released from the crayon when in use, unlike the chalk, which was used before crayons were. Obviously, that means you don't need to worry about the unpleasant feeling when power goes up your nose. Also, crayons are washable. If the young toddlers decided to doodle all over their hands and clothes, you can wash it right off! Crayons are easy to use, so there is no need to press down hard and possibly break it.

Simply stated, crayons were invented for children, who wanted more vibrant colors, instead of the same old dull colors, such as black, white, and grey. Children can choose from a variety of cheerful and fun colors for their artwork. From blue to red, to purple. There is no doubt that with more colors, kids and adults alike, can be more creative, spontaneous and expressive with their drawings. Colors play an important role in abstract art, which is a type of art primarily used to express feelings, so crayons may be useful while creating an abstract masterpiece. For those wanting to be more practical and realistic with their art can benefit from crayons as well. With different colors from crayons, artists can depict pictures with more ease. A stick with a circle on top may be thought to be a lollipop, but once you color the circle green, and the stick brown, people understand it is a tree, not a lollipop.

Obviously, safety is #1 concern, right? The best thing about crayons, is that they are safe. Crayons are non-toxic, so no hazardous materials are used in the process of creating crayons. Crayons cannot spill, like paint, so it won't cause children to slip or fall. Crayons also release no powder, so it is impossible to inhale it. All of these safety benefits make it a perfect product for young children to use, and allows parents to be less concerned.

All in all, crayons are a wonderful invention, that have changed the lives of artistic people around the world. It is not messy, isn't stiff, making them easy to use. They can be used to create more colorful, creative, and beautiful art with their assorted colors. And to assure parents, and teachers everywhere, they are safe. Now, I believe Binney and Smith deserves a round of applause for creating this wonderful invention.

  • I'm 12. Is it too late for me to learn karate?

Okay, so I'm 12 years old, and I really want to learn karate. I've never been invovled in any sport before, and I want to start getting more active. I don't feel like sitting around all day, watching reruns of Spongebob. So, I'm just wondering if I'm too old to start karate. I've seen some kids who are REALLY good, and they start at a really young age. Should I start karate? Also, can you tell me what to expect if I did take karate? Like what would I be doing, and how rigorous it is...
