  • We have an area of lawn by the house that the soil will not dry up and it causes lawn shrimp in the thousands?

We have an area all along the back of our home that sun never reaches due to the way the house was built. (had we known this, we would have NEVER purchased this home). However, we have, we love it but are faced with problems of lawn shrimp due to this. Number 1 issue: the soggy soil along the kitchen window and patio never sees sunlight and is continuously soggy which is where the little shrimp live and thrive. Since the heat is back in East/Central Florida these shrimpies blow onto our patio and die by the thousands - GROSS. They are there EVERY DAY.

We hired Massey Greenup to treat the lawn for insect, fleas, ticks, etc. and for months we did not see any of the lawn shrimp plus Massey couldn't even tell us what they were after collecting a small baggie full of them. Anyway, we had another issue with a swarm of termites and had to have this treated. They guy who came to do the termite treatment told us what these things were. I can't find anything on the internet that tells me how to rid my yard of these things except to rid the lawn of the moist soil.... What is the best and easiest way to do this without spending thousands to do it??

If ANYONE knows of ANY WAY TO GET RID OF THESE THINGS, PLEASE ANSWER MY POST. I've read about using lime, flea powder, punching holes in the moist soil which we have been doing to aerate it with no relief and the heat seems to be bringing them back with a vengeance. The rain brings them by the millions it seems. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE

  • Is this Ants or Termites? Tiny holes found in one corner of popcorn ceiling with evidence of burrowing?

About 3-4 days ago, we noticed, what looked like dirt on the molding of the floor in one corner of the master bedroom. I got a ladder and upon closer inspection looking at the ceiling with a magnifying glass, could see that there were tiny, almost miniscule holes in the popcorn ceiling and that is what caused the dirt below because "something" has been "burrowing" through the ceiling. This morning about noon or so, I found some kind of little creature all in the master bath, the laundry room and just a very tiny few crawling along the ceiling in the Master Bedroom. Whatever this is has wings, but not all of them have wings We can't tell if they are Ants or Termites?

We just had our entire home and property inspected for termites not even 3 months ago so I have no idea if this is a termite infestation or Ants? The little suckers seem to be traveling through any little hole they can find and ended up in the kitchen as well. After dealing with the horrible ant problem that we had, I had sealed up most of the little holes that ants go through, but they find a way to travel, no matter what. The house has been treated for pests, termites, ants, etc so I am just looking for information here to see if anyone can give me a "heads up" on this. What we see could be an ant or termite???? Today, they just exploded everywhere within the area of the master bedroom but they seem to die off after landing but they keep on coming and I do not know how they are getting around?? House 2007

  • Need some opinions about substituting recipe items?

My family can't stand, and WILL NOT EAT anything with honey Dijon mustard in it?? Don't ask me why. My question is: Would it be ok to use regular yellow mustard instead when a recipe calls for honey Dijon mustard or just Dijon mustard?

I'm making a very large platter of baked lemon/pepper chicken for some guests who loved my recipe the last time for this same thing but my family won't touch it if it contains honey or just plain Dijon mustard and since I am baking so much chicken, I am wondering if the substitute will even be noticed but I do not know???? I read somewhere that substituting this with regular yellow mustard was not acceptable but I haven't a clue???? I don't see what the problem could be but since I did read that in a cooking magazine, it concerns me. These clients are VERY important to us and we need to "shine", if ya get my drift !!!!!!

  • Needing suggestions about wireless headphones?

We bought a 55" LG 3D LED TV from Sam's Club a few months ago but they have no technical help available to assist you when wanting to purchase other products to go along with the TV.

What I need to know is this: Can anyone recommend a type of wireless headset that can be used with this TV. It has everything on it but that doesn't mean that any wireless headset will work - or so I was told by someone over the phone at Best Buy.

If anyone out there uses a headset to listen to their television, please let me know if you can recommend a brand and place to purchase a set for my Brother.

Thanks for all comments. Have a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS ! God Bless You ALL.

p.s. please remember, the headphones MUST be wireless. Thanks

  • Should I trim the long branches of my Poinsetta ?

I bought a tiny baby poinsetta last October in 2012. It's now grown very large and beautiful but I recently read different things about trimming back the branches. I mean it's not huge, but it has grown quite a bit since I bought the little thing. It was the sickest one they had for sale at Walmart and I bought it ! (I'm always doing that so that I can nurse things back to optimum health !).

If anyone knows the proper care for my poinsetta, please share your knowledge with me. I'm sure it needs repotting again and fertilizing. I did read that to make it bloom that you must start the plant on a light/dark cycle for at least 6 weeks. (putting it in a completely dark place overnight and then putting it in the light for the next 12 hours). I've never heard of this but I would like for it to bloom again. (obviously, I waited too late to get it to bloom for Christmas, but I would still like for it to bloom just the same).

I live in Florida so we have alot of humidity and I'm not certain if that is a good or bad thing for a poinsetta. It's been doing fine though and just GROWING !!!!! Thanks for any help. God Bless.

  • Could antidepressant medicine such as Zoloft cause Low Creatinine Levels?

I recently had to do a drug urinalysis where I work. My creatinine level was so low that the lab was concerned enough to inform me of it because I am a diabetic.

2 days before I had that test, I accidently took a 100mg. Zoloft think that I was taking my Nausea medicine. They look EXACTLY alike but I immediately discovered my mistake and tried to make myself sick but to no avail.

So I am just wondering if this could have anything to do with my creatinine being so low. (it was 16 they said????) I'm definitely going to the Dr. next week but I was wondering if there is any medical professional here on Yahoo Answers that could address this question for me. Thanks so very much.

  • Can you buy a car without a driver license?

I totaled out my Brother's car and he can't get his license back until around March 1st, 2014. The ins. co. is paying for a replacement car for us and we've been looking to see what we'd like to buy with the money we get from them. We are covered on each other's cars as insured drivers, however, he has no license at this time. I thought that I had recently read somewhere that you didn't have to have a license to buy a car, obtain a car title and other things. State is Florida.

Does anyone know FOR CERTAIN if you do or don't have to have a license to buy a car ? If there is someone who maybe works in this field or something who can answer me without a doubt, I sure would appreciate it.

About a week ago, I had some dude answer me and I quote, he said, "I don't understand the question you are asking but" end quote. Why in the world would anyone answer a question that they did not understand???? Maybe someone with nothing to do huh. Seriously, I need some absolutes here, not some maybes. Not trying to be rude just looking for someone who actually knows about this for certain. I don't want to call the DMV and have them start asking me a bunch of questions ya know.....,

Thanks for any and all replies.

  • Can you get a replacement car title without a driver license?

I have a family member that has lost his title. Recently he lost his driver license which is under suspension at this time. Can he go to his local DMV and get a replacement title in the State of Florida?

    Any info would be appreciated.

(I totaled his vehicle which I am insured on and it was the other driver's fault, however, now he can't find his title and the ins. co. wants the original, this is why I am asking this question).

I kind of wanted to research it a little before picking up the phone and asking the DMV here. I've read different stories about people saying "yes" they can get a title without a license but all of these answers were pertaining to other states, not Florida. Anyone who knows FOR SURE, please let me know. I thank you for your time.

  • What to do if the person you hit in an automobile accident has no money?

I recently hit a Midnight Blue Econoline Van that was trying to back into a driveway on a heavily travelled road. He did not have his lights on or obviously, I would not have hit him. I did not see him until I was right up on him to where my lights shined on the van. He was given a citation for improper backing but nothing for no lights being on. Both of my airbags deployed as I was traveling 39 miles per hour and the force in which I hit him scared the hell out of me. (one of the officers stated that he was surprised that I walked away fromt he crash. My SUV is torn up on the front end with the body shop saying it is questionable if it can be fixed at all and may just need replacing.

The guy I hit in his van is still sitting on the side of the road where the officer moved it out of the traffic. I immediately had mine towed to a auto shop of someone we know but his still sits right where the officer parked it. It's been 9 days, why isn't the owner of the other vehicle getting his car fixed????? I don't have another vehicle or have rental car ins. What should I be worried about here. Considering that it was the other driver's fault and that he was issued a citation for improper backing, should I go ahead and get my own vehicle fixed or what? Obviously, the guy i ran into because he was in the middle of the road, doesn't have any money or his van would have been towed by now to a shop to have it accessed? Also, his citation has not been paid as of today. We are without a vehicle and need the one wrecled either repaired or replaced asap. \

What should I do, should I let my ins. co. fix my car or replace it or should I wait to sue him or what. I have never been in an auto accident and don't know what to do. He does have ins. as listed on the police report but it isn't getting anything fixed because his van is still where it was where the officer moved it off the major roadway. Any suggestions????

  • Is there any kind of furniture polish or cleaner that I can use to clean my Cherry Wood Desk?

I have used regular furniture polish like pledge and favor and also used the Orange Glo and Scotts Liquid Gold, ALL of them leave a horrible oily/greasy residue behind.

Does anyone know of any kind of cleaner that I can use to dust with in my office that won't leave any kind of greasy mess. I've tried a few natural homemade things but they didn't work either. PLEASE HELP !!!!!

  • Looking for recipes or ideas for leftover "SMOKED" eye of round beef?

The reason I put the accent on "smoked" is because alot of your basic recipes that you can use beef with won't turn out tasting right because the meat is smoked and not just grilled. It was done on a smoker so there isn't alot of fat or juices left at all. We used some of it in baked beans and they were ok but not great. We even made stir-fry with some of it a while back but it simply didn't taste right due to the smoke flavor??? (or that was our opinion anyway). I'm sure you are asking yourself, "why would they keep cooking something they are having such issues with? Well this is given to us by a family member and we aren't going to turn down free bbq or hurt anyone's feelings.

It's great with bbq sauce but after a while you get tired of eating it plain with bbq sauce. I need a recipe that is simple and basic with maybe some veggies mixed in it, etc. I've looked online and keep coming up with recipes that say "beef brisket". This is NOT beef brisket, nor does it taste like brisket.

Any suggestions at all will be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that the simplier for me, the better. I don't have alot of time to cook due to working. Thank you.

  • What is the best product to use to kill weeds but not damage grass?

We have a home on about an acre and a half lot and we are overrun with ants, antbeds and WEEDS. The grass is beautiful but we desperately need to kill the weeds without damaging any of the grass. Can anyone recommend a good product which they have personally used in their own yard to kill weeds. Amdro and such has not gotten rid of the ant beds and they are not fire ant beds so the fire ant products won't do the trick. I like to do things myself and hate to call an exterminator just for yard ants but the beds are very numerous. I was hoping that some type of weed killer and also some type of yard insect killer would do the trick but I'm not sure what the best choice is?

Any personal experiences or suggestions will be very appreciated. Thanks.

  • My Polka Dot Plant is very sick, can anyone help?

Does anyone know anything about how to care for a very ill polka dot plant. I bought it when it was very small at a Walmart and I believe it was sick from the get go. It isn't responding to anything I do, I used Miracle Gro in it, I try to keep it watered, but not overwatered. I had it in my house in our kitchen bay window where I keep alot of plants that enjoy sunlight and I keep some all around the pool garden, etc. The polka dot is now outside but I think it may be too humid? I read confusing posts on what is best, outside or inside in my area of Florida???? I live in Palm Bay, Florida which is about 100 or so miles South from Daytona Beach and the weather is VERY HUMID here this time of year. It just looks so sick and no matter what I do, it won't perk back up.

I don't know about picking or pruning plants or anything so if anything like this needs to be done, please explain in detail. At one point a couple of months ago, it had the prettiest little lavender blooms on it and seemed to be doing great but now it is in serious trouble and I HATE to lose a plant.

Thanks for any suggestions and yall come down to the BEACH !!! It is very nice here this time of year as long as you are at the ocean or at a pool, which luckily we have in our yard as well. !!! My plants make the pool area so beautiful and I hate to lose a single one.

  • Is it possible for a urine analysis to be positive for THC if you are taking all sorts of OTC Vitamins?

I had a urine analysis about a week ago and it came back positive for THC of all things. I had to ask them what that was because at first, I just didn't remember. When they said it was positive for marijuana and that is what the THC would be, I almost fainted. I DO NOT SMOKE POT NOR HAVE I BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR ANYONE WHO DOES. I have NEVER been a pot smoker. Sure I tried it a few times when I was waaaaaaaay younger but it always made me paranoid so I never picked up the habit. I was also asked if I used something called "marisol", I believe. They said that was medical marijuana. I am so upset and this is such a HUGE mistake that has been made by someone in a lab wherever they send their U/A's out to and can cause me REAL PROBLEMS. Immediately, I went ahead and paid to have it re-tested by using a GCMS so I hope the second one will come back clean because there is just no way that THC is in my system - NO WAY....

The only thing I can figure is I did start taking alot of OTC Vitamins for menopause symptoms and fatigue and sweating. I am taking Black Cohosh, St. John's Wort, Estroven - the one for energy and something else that contains Ginseng, Kava, I think and a couple of other ingredients. Does anyone know if this could have caused a false positive? I had heard a coworker talking about this months ago when this happened to someone else. Anyone who has any experience with this, I sure would love to know what you think. Thanks alot.

  • Is it possible for a dog to lose weight without exercising him?

Our Shorkie, has gained a few unhealthy pounds in the last couple of years and we are trying desperaely to get the weight off due to his genetic "collapsible trachea issue". He has all of the symptoms but his trach isn't actually "collapsed" per say, but it is in distress due to his honking cough, his inability to run and play anymore without coughing and gagging, etc.

We've been feeding him what the vet said which is a diet type of dry food mixed with diet wet but to me he isn't losing pounds they way he use to when he was younger. He is small in height like a yorkie but has the bulk of a Shitzu. He isn't all tiny and stuff like a regulart yorkie. (the man has some muscles in his little body!!!). His weight is right at 10lbs at last weigh a week ago, then he weighed 9.5 about 4 days ago but hasn't lost any since then and he is practically starving to death but due to his condition, we MUST get this weight off of him. Any suggestions?

p.s. there is hardly any way to get him active without exacerbating his condition so we were told not to walk him far at all, not to let him chase his baby too much, etc., so therefore, he hardly gets any exercise. I just don't know???

  • Can anyone help me with my Samsung Printer issue?

I have a Samsung ML-2851ND black and white printer and just received new toner cartridge for it. The cartridge fits fine, isn't the problem but I cannot get this printer to load onto my lil Acer One that uses Windows XP. It keeps telling me that it can't find the software to load when I run the "found new hardware" wizard that is standard with XP.

I've read everything from my Win XP could be corrupted and may need to be reloaded to I don't know what else. Can't seem to find a "common" answer to get this stupid printer to work with my computer. It's been loaded on this same computer before so I know it "will" work, but it just "isn't" working at this point and time !!

Any help out there ? Thanks in advance.
