  • T-shirts for overseas military?

Several years ago, a friend asked us if we had any good condition t-shirts to send overseas to be given to military personnel. But, our friend has lost the shipping info. Does anyone know of an organization which collects t-shirts to send to the overseas military personnel? I know I can just give the shirts to either Salvation Army or Goodwill, but if the shirts would make some military folk happy, we would be more than happy to ship them elsewhere! Just need to know where!

  • To old to learn to ride a motorcycle?

I've always loved the open road, but the only times I've been on a motorcycle was as a passenger. Now that I'm 60 yrs old, I'd like to get out on the road more, but with a vehicle which gets way better gas mileage than my SUV. Am I too old to learn to ride a motorcycle?

  • Which method of hair dyeing is better?

I want to play a delayed April Fools joke on a doctor by getting my mostly gray hair dyed back to its original color (dark brown). When I was younger I dyed my hair at home, but I'm not as limber as I was back then. Would it be a good idea to get my hair dyed at a hair salon? Or are the home hair dye kits a better/cheaper way to go?

  • How to report misleading Yahoo group titles?

While searching for a new camping group to join, I found a couple which had titles and descriptions which appeared to be what I was looking for, but turned out to have nothing to do with camping. Both essentially were selling sex! Is there anything Yahoo can do about these misleading titled groups?

  • Was this a rude hand gesture?

A few days before Christmas, a male friend of ours made a hand gesture towards me I hadn't seen before. He made a fist with the little finger extended accompanied by an upwards twisting motion; his hand was less than a foot from my face. I've tried looking it up on the Internet, but while I have found pictures of a fist with the pinky finger extended upwards, there's no explanation what the gesture means.

  • US Passcard questions?

Some friends of mine want me to go with them the next time they go to Canada which will be some time next year. For that, I'll need to get a passcard. I printed out the form, but now I have a couple of questions. It asks for my hair color. My hair was dark brown many long years ago, but now is half grey, half dark brown. Which color should I put on the application?

And the application asks for my travel plans. I don't know what they are yet!

  • 4-wheel drive on Expeditions?

Earlier this year we became owners of a 2005 Expedition. It has the optional 4-wheel drive, but neither my husband nor I have ever driven a vehicle with 4-wheel drive; we just use the regular 2-wheel drive. We were told we should practice driving with the 4-wheel drive turned on, but how, where and how often? And what sort of gas mileage does one get with 4-wheel drive? It's not likely we'll need to use it, but considering where we live, there is a <small> chance it will come in handy.

  • Chevrolet Uplander - repair record?

My niece recently bought a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander. I checked Consumer Reports; they describe the vehicle as "subpar". That doesn't sound good! She told us she has a one-year warranty from the dealer. But I worry she got herself into a bad deal. Has anyone here owned an Uplander? What problems did you have?

  • Indian foods and Celiac disease?

I want to take my husband to a local Indian restaurant, but he has Celiac Disease and is afraid anything he orders might have some kind of wheat product. What types of items could he order without worry? We live in Tennessee; the restaurant (Sitar) is in Knoxville.

  • How long can an unopened bottle of champagne last in the fridge?

Many years ago, I was given a bottle of champagne for a birthday. I was told to keep its on its side, so the bottle sat on its side in a storage cabinet for a couple of years. When I reorganized the cabinet, I put the bottle into my fridge where it has stayed for at least 5 years. Is it still drinkable?

  • Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer version?

My husband and I talked it over. What we think we want is a Ford Expedition rather than the larger Excursion. But, we don't know anyone who owns an Expedition. We're curious as to the typical mileage city/highway and if anyone here has towed a travel trailer with an Expedition. We're considering the Eddie Bauer version as it has all the power options we'd like to get.

We're not interested in a diesel version as our favorite mechanics prefer not to work on diesels.

  • Ford Excursion info needed?

We thinking about buying a used Ford Excursion, but would like to know what others think of the SUV. What kind of gas mileage does it get? What size tires does it use? Have any recalls been issued for the Excursions? Do all of them have electric-folding rear seats? Has anyone towed a travel trailer with an Excursion? How did it handle?

  • Unusual blooms on azalea?

I have an odd azalea blooming in front of my house. It has clear bright pink flowers and striped pale pink & white flowers. At first I thought someone had grafted two different azaleas together, but the two different colored flowers grow on the same branches! I have photographic proof. Has anyone ever heard of or seen such an azalea?

  • Should we turn off the propane to the RV fridge before refueling?

We have a camping trailer with a 2-way refrigerator. When we're towing it, we have the fridge on propane. Up til now, we left the pilot light on when refueling the tow vehicle, but one of my husband's co-workers says that's dangerous; it might spark a fire at the gas station.

Is leaving the pilot light on really dangerous when refueling? I thought gasoline fumes tended to be heavier than air and therefore flow along the ground, not billowing 3' in the air. Besides, we've never seen anyone else with a towable RV going in to turn off their fridges.

  • Did I do something wrong?

Recently in the parking lot of a grocery store, I politely asked a young girl to move out of the way so I could get in my vehicle. She was just standing between her mom's car and my van staring at me. Her mother accused me of being rude and called me bad names. Honestly, the only person being rude was the girl's mother! Did I do something wrong? I'm baffled by the mother's reaction!

  • What to do with old silver US coins?

We have several mid-20th century silver coins. They have been circulated, so they're not in mint condition though many are in what I consider good condition. Are they worth more than their face value? My husband and I were thinking about exchanging all our saved coins, but we don't want to accidentally get rid of some coin worth more than it's face value!

  • What to do about this cat?

Shorty is a rescued cat who has been living with us for several years. Our other cats barely tolerate her, so she has no cat friends. She's always been a bit crazy and a biter who bit hard enough to draw blood. But in the last year or so, she's not only bitten us more often, she's decided to pee anywhere she happens to be! She has peed on the refrigerator (top and bottom), on the computer desk and on shelves. Right now she's locked out on our cat porch with a heated bed to keep her warm. We've tried every suggestion on controlling her, but nothing has worked. We just can't trust her in the house anymore.

Should we try to find another home for her where she's be the only cat or maybe be a barn kitty, or should we have her put to sleep? Opinions please.

  • Hair loss due to Type 2 Diabetes?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Sept 2004. My hair was thick back then, but over the past 6 months, every time I brush my hair, there's a lot of hairs in the brush. Has anyone else experienced hair loss dur to their Diabetes? Should I tell my doctor about the hair loss at my next appointment?

Just for the record, I'm 54 yrs old. Only one member of my immediate family experienced hair loss, but he did so over a 40 yr span.

  • Dyeing a shirt without damaging sewn on decorations?

I was given a shirt with a black & white horse sewn directly on the fabric. (It's not a removeable patch.) I'd love to wear the shirt, but it's yellow and I look awful in yellow. Is there any way to dye the shirt without coloring the horse?
