  • What's your take on the War on Drugs?

in case it wasn't obvious, this refers to the actual US policy thing, not the band

  • What do you think of the monkey typewriter problem?

What do you think would happen if you gave an infinite number of typewriters to an infinite number of monkeys? Would they eventually write the complete works of William Shakespeare?

  • Why is the report function so strange?

Full disclosure: this isn't a question. I don't know where I could put any suggestions, so I have to write a rhetorical question. I suppose you could tell me a better place to put this.

I think the report function needs a lot of improvement. As of now, whenever I report a question or answer, the two options are almost impossible to tell apart - "insulting other members" can be very similar to "violence or threats;" spam and impersonation and misrepresentation all kind of blend together on this site. I think the differences should be made clear so it doesn't seem like two identical options. Additionally, I propose a few new reasons: advertising, lying about factual topics (which is rampant in both politics and lgbt) and purely rhetorical question. This would hopefully make it easier to moderate the site.

    Thoughts on this?

  • Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

I don't think I've seen a single answer on here from a republican that was noticeably written in good faith. The vast majority rely on stating things that directly contradict reality, putting out strawman arguments, and essentially using every other strategy to ensure beyond the slightest doubt that nobody will ever manage to have a productive discussion. So my question is, why do I still bother coming to this cesspool of a website?

  • What do you think of these possible new categories?

    agree/disagree (for polls & surveys)

not questions (for example "Thank you to everyone who owns a dog and shares them on the street?")

I have no problem with either of these types of questions but I would much prefer if they were in separate categories.
