  • Are non-compete laws enforceable in California?

I currently work for corporation selling industrial supplies however I have had an opportunity presented to work for a current competitor as a franchise owner.

Being that I will be sacrificing my salary, benefits, 401K, etc in return to earn much more in comission, etc. I will need the help of my current customers to come with me and buy from my new franchise.

I have heard that non-compete is not enforceable in California but have heard that my employer (based out of IL) can create a lawsuit in there state and make it difficult.

Is anyone familiar with this? I feel it is hard to get honest advice from a lawyer because of course they want money and I do not want to pay to expunge something that does not need to be expunged in the first place.

  • Health Insurance for franchise/small busines owner needed.?

    Hello,

I am in the final stages of becoming a franchise owner. One of the disadvantages from leaving the corporate world are the benefits that are available. I will be on my own now and responsible for providing my own health insurance.

I am a 34 year old male, healthy *knock on wood*

I don't know anything about Obamacare, but is this an option? Is there insurance for small business owners, or do I just have to call each company?

Any suggestions would help and anyone around my age please let me know how much you pay and who you use.

  • How do I set aside money to pay my taxes as a small business owner?

First- I want to mention that I will be meeting with a CPA for professional advice but just want to hear some opinions.

I am in the works of becoming an owner of a franchise in California.

My concern is the taxes are not automatically deducted as they are from my current employer - I do not even have to think about it.

As a business owner I will receive the entire portion of my paycheck. Is there a rule of thumb that I can use to automatically set aside a certain percentage that would be used to be be paid toward taxes?

I project my first year commissions will be around 55K to 75K, depending on how soon I can get my current book of business with my employer to support me as a franchise owner.

  • Would I owe more on taxes each year as a franchise business owner as an S Corp?

I will be meeting with a CPA in the next couple weeks for professional advise but I want to see what the opinion of other may be on this topic.

I am in the process of becoming a franchise owner of an industrial supply company. I have been in this business for over 10 years and have a book of business to bring a long with me.

I will not have a store front, I will not hold inventory. Products will ship direct from the wearhouse that the company I will be franchising with provides.

My pay checks will only reflect what I made in comission. I am projecting my first year I will make around 60K to 75k.

Is set up as an S Corp would I owe back thousands in taxes once tax season comes around? Or would it be similar to what I would expect as someone making that much working for a large corporation (usually get back some state and federal)

I am single with no dependents.

  • Should my franchise me a LLC, S Corp, or C Corp?

I will be meeting with a CPA to guide me in my final decision but just want to get some peoples opinions as to which and why.

I will be a franchise owner of an industrial supply company. I will not hold any inventory or have any type of store front ( I ship product direct to my customers from the wearhouse that the company provides)

My income will only be my commission I bring in

  • Paying taxes as an S Corp Business?

I am in the works of becoming a franchise owner of my own industrial supply business.

I want to note that I will be speaking with a CPA but i just want to get some general opinions, etc.

My worry as a business owner is that I would have to pay out a lot in taxes at the end of the year. If my first year in come as a business owner is 60K, would I be taxed a lot?

I am used to getting money each year during tax time, not paying out. I dont want to shoot myself in the foot in this business by having to pay like 2000 in taxes each year.

  • Looking for tires for my 2014 Chevy Silverado 2WD Crew Cab?

What is a good tire that has kind of an agressive look but good for road driving?

I was considering the Toyo Open Country AT2 (275/55/20) but wondering if this tire exists that is maybe a little taller? Otherwise would this fit my truck best.

There is so much info on tires it is overwhelming but have heard these are great tires.

  • Can the blood sugar portion of routine blood work suspect or diagnose Diabetes?

I have not had blood work done in 10-15 years and I just turned 34 (male) and decided to get this checked.

I am overweight and the doctor said my blood work came out fine across the board.

I did not fast before my test but my blood sugar was 104 and she said that is fine.

Can the blood sugar portion of this test at least raise a flag to do further testing if this number looked high?

She told me I am in good health and have nothing to worry about but of course I overthink EVERYTHING.

  • I had an ECG (echocardiogram) and now my side/ribs is kind of sore?

I was suffering from what I thought were to be anxiety issues and saw a cardiologist to put my mind at ease that this was not a heart issue.

Long story short- all testing came back fine (EKG, ECG, Treadmill Stress Test) and said it was more than likely Anxiety.

During the ECG the technician was pushing the wand pretty firmly on me to the point I had to bite my lip, and and almost felt as if I was going to pass out. I am a bigger guy and said he just had to push harder to get a good view.

Today my side is kind of sore if I twist, or move my arms up. Is this common to be sore from an ECG? They said I was fine! so I am hoping this is not a heart issue and just soreness from the wand. Has anyone experienced this? This is my first visit ever to a cardiologist.

  • Ate a cup of oatmeal before blood test will this mess it up?

Last week I was having bad anxiety and I went to Urgent Care to get a quick check up/vitals checked.

I did not know I was going to have blood drawn but I had eaten a cup of instant oatmeal about 2 hours before my test. I told the doctor and she said it should not affect my blood test.

I have not had my blood checked in years and scared that I ate oatmeal will throw off my numbers. They said if anything looked urgent they would call me and I have not heard anything yet (went to doctor Thursday morning)

  • Blood Pressure good (122/74) But my EKG was "Borderline Abnormal" , Help!?

For the past several days I have what I felt were anxiety/nervousness/subtle adrenaline type feeling, kind of like butterflys but in my chest. No chest paint what so ever, even when during exercise I feel fine.

I have been feeling better/normal the past 2 days and thought I would go by an urgent care to finally put my mind at ease and pin point that I have been dealing with anxiety and need to calm myself down.

They checked my breathing, blood pressure (122/74) which they said was good, and they drew blood. They performed an EKG and my results came back as "borderline abnormal" and this has now sent my anxiety through the roof! She said nothing indicates this is a medical emergency but suggested I set an appointment with a Cardiologist. I go tomorrow at 10:45 AM but this is going to be a long 17 hours with my mind racing.

My bpm on my EKG report said 58 BPM and I think this is what raised concern to the urgent care doctor to have a cardiologist have a second look.

I'm a 34 year old male, have some weight to lose but generally feel healthy for the most part.

Should I be worried about this? What throws me off is my blood pressure was great, but the EKG printed result says "borderline abnormal" any help would be appreciated I am nervous and anxious right now.

  • Is this Anxiety/Panic that I am experiencing or something else?

I am a 34 year old male, I have weigh to lose but I am pretty active as I attend a gym 3-5 days a week and my job is pretty active in field sales.

For the past few days I have been experiencing what I feel is anxiety/panic like symptoms.

I have had a subtle feeling of like "nervous butterflys" in my chest and it comes and goes in waves. Mainly in the evening or if I am just sitting around doing nothing.

I have no pain what so ever when I am sedentary or even when I work out hard. It is just like a buzzing/adrenaline type feeling.

My dad passed last august and just found out my roommates dad died and my uncle died and I really feel for them but has not affected me directly - but not sure if this is causing anxiety type feelings?

Since I have no chest pain or any of that, is this more than likely Anxiety? I have tested my pulse rate and my BPM rate has been "normal"

Any help or advise would be appreciated I am trying to shake this feeling.

  • Nervous Sensation/Butterflies in Chest Feeling.. Anxiety or something else?

For the past few days I have what is a very mild, subtle nervous type feeling in my chest. Kinda like butterflys but in my chest.

I have not had any other symptoms (breathing is fine, etc) And I am wondering if this is some sort of anxiety symptom?

I am a pretty anxious person and would say I do have anxiety and and over worry about things in general.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I feel mostly fine during the day but at night when im by myself relaxing is probably when I feel it the most. I keep checking my pulse and stuff and my BPM is "normal" from what I google. I go to the gym regularly and have not had any difficult working out.

Any responses from anyone with experience would be helpful.

I also have acid reflux sometimes. Im picking up some Prilosec this afternoon to see if this helps but not sure if GERD can cause anxiety like symptoms. im 34, male- have some weight to lose but live active, and try and make the best food choices possible.

  • Sore Throat (Left Side) From Dirty CPAP?

I would consider myself a hypochondriac but here is what I am experiencing these past couple days.

On the left side of my throat I have had minor discomfort/soreness when swallowing only. I do sometimes produce some mucus build up and when I "hock it up" it has been just a whitish, mucus other than that I do not have any other issues or symptoms and feel fine other than this annoyance when swallowing. I also felt around my neck and jaw line for swollen lymph nodes and nothing feels out of the ordinary to me and it feels the same as the right side.

I do use a CPAP machine at night when I go to bed for moderate sleep apnea and I will admit that I need to make better habits and clean my CPAP equipment more regularly. I am hoping the sore throat is from irritation from a dirty CPAP, and now that I have cleaned it, drinking water, and taking over the counter medication (lozenge) that it will get better.

Of course when I research my symptoms online I see stuff that says not a big deal all the way to as bad as cancer related :(

Should I be worried with these type of symptoms? My anxiety is getting the best of me right now.
