Can the blood sugar portion of routine blood work suspect or diagnose Diabetes?
I have not had blood work done in 10-15 years and I just turned 34 (male) and decided to get this checked.
I am overweight and the doctor said my blood work came out fine across the board.
I did not fast before my test but my blood sugar was 104 and she said that is fine.
Can the blood sugar portion of this test at least raise a flag to do further testing if this number looked high?
She told me I am in good health and have nothing to worry about but of course I overthink EVERYTHING.

yes.
But YOURS was NORMAL 80-120 is normal. YOURS was 104 -- right smack in teh middle of normal..
ASK you doctor to do the A1C Blood Test. This test is the new "Gold Standard" for Diabetes Testing, The Blood Glucose Level test is now used ONLY for monitoring, but NOT diagnosis.

Yes. It would indicate diabetes if you actually had diabetes. At this time, you do NOT have diabetes based on that test.
Now, that test is a little higher than the ideal range for a fasting sugar level. But, you said you did not fast, which means that reading is PERFECT because any reading below 120 is fine when you are not fasting.

I had a finger prick test in the UK last week and it was 8.8, I am getting a blood test next week.
Your number made me feel like there is nothing wrong with me.
