Any way to save a text message to a file?

Hello. I am getting ready to get a new phone soon, but I have some text messages that I have from before my dad passed away and would like to save these text conversations. Is this possible?

    If you have Android, you can use SMS Backup & Restore to backup any particular or all all text. I save mine to Google Drive and my SD card, and you have the option to also back SMS up to your SD card if you like.

    You can also do a copy and paste of the threads to a text editor and then re-save them in that app.

    You can do a screen shot and email the pic to yourself. On my phone, I bring the text up, then push the home and on button at the same time.
