I had an ECG (echocardiogram) and now my side/ribs is kind of sore?

I was suffering from what I thought were to be anxiety issues and saw a cardiologist to put my mind at ease that this was not a heart issue.

Long story short- all testing came back fine (EKG, ECG, Treadmill Stress Test) and said it was more than likely Anxiety.

During the ECG the technician was pushing the wand pretty firmly on me to the point I had to bite my lip, and and almost felt as if I was going to pass out. I am a bigger guy and said he just had to push harder to get a good view.

Today my side is kind of sore if I twist, or move my arms up. Is this common to be sore from an ECG? They said I was fine! so I am hoping this is not a heart issue and just soreness from the wand. Has anyone experienced this? This is my first visit ever to a cardiologist.

    Perfectly normal.

And yes, its common for us ultrasound technicians to have to push fairly firmly on larger people. Remember also the face of the transducer is only about the size of your thumb print and we have to push that between your rib spaces to see anything.

Sometimes, yes. I have echocardiograms my whole life and in my experience, male technicians tend to press too hard. Just tell them they're hurting you and not to press so hard.
