  • Word and Excel hard to open when on home network?

I have a laptop provided by my school. They recently installed Windows 7 and Office 2010. Now, when I'm at home, the computer has a hard time opening Word and Excel when I'm connected to the Internet at home. There is no problem opening documents when at school. There is no problem when I'm not connected to the Internet at home. There was no problem when I had XP and Office 2007. Could there be a problem with how the newer versions were installed? The technician doesn't know what's wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Can you give me some inspiration?

I am about to go into a potentially very contentious meeting at work at which I feel two people out of 22 will try to take control and perhaps be insulting, despite being a minority and having a good system in place for the person to chair the meeting. I'm having a hard time feeling in my heart that this will pass and there are far worse things in the world. I would appreciate some Christian/Zen comments, some positive words from anyone out there. The meeting starts in 50 minutes.

    Thanks.

  • What was the name of the company that brings teachers and kids in Africa together via the Internet?

I saw an interview earlier this week or last week on CTV, I think, and it was about a man who developped the idea to connect teachers with kids in Africa via the Internet. The country didn't have schools or many resources, but had Internet connection it showed teachers tutoring kids via a computer or ipad. They would volunteer for one hour a week. Did anyone see it and can you give me the name of the organization or web site? Thanks.

  • How to post a comment on blogger.com?

I've asked my students to create blogs on blogger.com. They all succeeded in creating a blog and posting, but I asked them to post comments on the blogs of other students. Some don't succeed in posting a comment and I can't do it either. When I try, a window opens that tells me that I'm not a member or something, but I am. I've tried commenting under OpenID, google account etc., changing my settings and so on, so why can some students post comments and others can't? It's not the person who wrote the blog that has to change a setting, because we can't post a comment on a blog where others have succeeded. Help!

  • How do I cook ground caribou? I was given some and thought I'd make caribou hamburgers. Would this work?

Does it have to be cooked as much as regular ground beef? Can I make them just with the caribou or should it be mixed with other ground meat?

  • Is the word "slacks" old-fashioned?

I know my mother has always used the word "slacks" but I tend to just say "pants" now. I would like to know if you use "slacks" or if you think it's outdated. It would help if you could tell me what country you're from and what age group, so that I can determine if it is used more or less frequently in certain areas and by certain age groups. This really for personal interest, not a linguistic study.

    Thanks!

  • Does anyone have a Zelmer vacuum? If so, what model? Do you like it?

  • What is servicing debt?

I've just read an article that talks about personal debt and specifically mentioned "servicing debt". I can't find this anywhere on the Internet but did find a lot of hits for the term "debt service". Is this the same thing? Can anyone explain what it is in regards to personal (not commercial or national) debt.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Does anyone have a child with an overactive bladder?

My child takes Detrol for an overactive bladder but still gets wet. The urologist says this happens frequently in children but I have never heard of anyone else having this problem. How do I mentally deal with this frustrating issue?
