  • How can I let my college roommate, who is one of my closest friends, know I don't want her boyfriend coming over anymore?

At first I didn't mind it at all. I mean, my roommate was a step up from my freshman year roommate who had a new guy over all the time. And I didn't mind her roommate, but after a while it got out of hand. They aren't having sex, so that's not an issue. What's an issue is the fact that on the weekends they'll sleep in until noon or even later. We live in a dorm but we have a living room, and so they would usually sleep in there. But it would noon and I actually want to get up and do things in the place I'm paying for (which I can hardly afford). Plus, he always sleeps shirtless, and I just don't want to see that. Whenever he's over his stuff is thrown all across the room.

It wasn't until later when they slept in our room, which is just even worse because again - they'll be sleeping during the day and I'll want to try to enjoy my own room.

But what's worst of all is the fact that lately he has been very disrespectful to me. I'm watching TV, he's constantly making comments about the show. We also have different political views, and he will nonstop say stuff just to piss me off. He won't want to debate something, he'll just try to antagonize me.

I just don't want him over at all. I mean, he can come during the day, but I don't want him there overnight for hours sleeping in. He's beyond lazy and rude.

But my roommate is my friend. I know she'll be mad when I say I don't want him over. How can I make her understand I don't want him over?

  • A job for a high school character, other than fast food.?

For my story the character works hard. He's the oldest and has to help his mom, etc. You know the deal.

What are some jobs that have more physical labor but a high schooler can still have?

If all else fails then fast food will be fine.

  • I need a name that goes well with the name Ember, but is sort of contrasting with it?

So I have the name Ember, which is like an ember of fire you know? I need another name to go with it, but the name needs to be opposite. So think of a name that's the opposite of fire. It can be an actual name with that meaning, or it can be a weird name like...Aqua...but not Aqua please. You know, like hippie names kind of.

    Thanks!

  • I'm in need of a bunch of weird, fantasy-type names for my story! Help me out?

I just need filler names for a fantasy story. You can give me Hunger Games type names (which are kind of, you know, Shakespeare-Caesar names). You can give me Game of Thrones type names. Maybe throw in some floral, earthly names, some hippie names. Basically anything along those lines. I have the main characters' names picked out but I just need background character names.

To help, the setting is somewhat inspired by Greece and Rome, but they have a very Paganistic lifestyle and religion. I don't know if that helps or anything, but I just need some filler names and I figured it would be fun if you just gave me some! Then I can get a variety!

    Thanks!

  • Advice on a Christian man dating an agnostic woman?

So, I've gotten to know this guy, and at first he just didn't seem like my type. However, he's grown on me a lot lately and he isn't the stereotypical Christian I figured he would be. He's not conservative, and as someone who's pretty liberal I was relieved to discover this. I'm really big into activism and especially the LGBT community, but he's totally okay with all of that and voices an agreeing opinion with mine. He's nice and funny and confident and is responsible. He's really the ideal guy my grandmother would want me to date, and surprisingly I'm finding myself attracted to him.

I'm agnostic. I don't believe in the Bible or going to church, and although I believe in some divinity it's not one sole god.

So I guess I want to know your opinions on a guy like this dating a girl like me. I don't have a problem with him being religious, it's just thinking about where this relationship would go. I mean, when I have kids I don't want to force them to go to church. I'm not sure if he does go, but still. I wouldn't want them to read the Bible as sole fact. By all means they can learn about Jesus because I still think what Jesus said was good. I mean, he basically said be a good person. I would want them to have their own options.

  • What websites do you use to watch TV shows? Least sketchy ones?

I used to use projectfree.tv but it's not the same and it never seems to work anymore. I was recommended popcorn time but I'm not sure if I want to download anything.

    What sites do you use?

  • Everything I need to know about Medellin, Colombia, and the Feria de las Flores.?

I'm studying abroad in Medellin, Colombia, and I'll be with around 300 students and staff. We'll be staying in groups and riding buses, and we have a partnership with a Colombia school down there so they're going to be acting as our guides a lot of the time. We really won't leave Medellin, but what are some things I need to know about Medellin? We'll have some time for sight-seeing, and so what are good places to go? How many people speak English? What safety precautions do I need to take? Luckily I do speak more English than most...more than everyone else I'm going with at least.

Also, we'll be seeing the Feria de las Flores down there. Can you tell me a little bit about that? And do you know what area in Medellin that takes place? I think it'd be cool to view it on Google Earth.

    Thanks!

  • Can you be too old for a palate expander?

So my upper jaw is too narrow and it is painful often, plus I get self-conscious of my smile. I'm almost 20, and jaw surgery is an option but I don't have enough money for that and neither do my parents. So the other option is a palate expander, which can mostly be covered. Am I too old for a palate expander?

  • Simple study abroad scholarships out there?

So I'm going to Colombia for a week, a study abroad trip. It does not cost that much money, and so I'm not looking for a scholarship that is a lot. Maybe $500 to $1000. I've tried using databases but they're not being helpful. I preferably just want a simple scholarship that's based on financial need. I already went through my university and they gave me one that everyone gets, and so I want another one so the trip can basically be free besides food and souvenirs. I mean, are there scholarships out there? Please don't send me a link to studyportal.com because that wasn't helpful, and I am currently looking through fastweb.com now.

    Thanks.

  • What are your favorite, strong LGBT scenes from plays or movies?

Preferably plays, but what are some really strong scenes that give you goosebumps or make you cry? Scenes like that.

  • What are some powerful scenes/monologues of LGBT themed movies, shows, etc.?

I'm looking for really powerful scenes or monologues from plays, moves, tv shows, etc. that are about the LGBT community. The last scene in the play Angels in Angels in America is powerful. Stuff like that you know? Just throw any at me. Like if I were to reenact this scene or recite this dialogue. It can also be from a book too I suppose.

    Thanks.

  • Do you think you could critique my LGBT themed poem for me?

So my poem is about victims of homophobic violence, and it's for a poetry class of mine. I'm primarily a fiction writer and so this isn't necessarily the best. I have to turn it into the class Tuesday and so I'd like some feedback before.

    Here's the link:

    http://www.wattpad.com/107391620-little-black-book...

And these names are based on real victims of homophobic violence. And I know xtravagant is spelled wrong but Venus belonged to house of xtravaganza.

    Thanks!

  • So I had to write a poem for my class and it's LGBT themed. Do you think you can take a look?

I'm studying writing at my university and I have to take this poetry class. I'm a fiction/journalism writer - not a poet, and I have a lot of issues with the class actually. It's not I don't take my poetry seriously because I know it's beneficial, but this class and the workshop process isn't that helpful actually.

So, I wrote this poem, and I think maybe one person will understand it's LGBT themed, but I'm minoring in LGBT studies and it's what I write about. Hence, this poem. It's about victims of homophobic violence. Some names will be recognizable, others were people that weren't famous or anything but were still victims that I looked up.

So please help me out and critique it for me! It's not the best and I know I could have posted it to the books and authors section but I would rather have you all read it!

    So yeah. Thanks!

P.S. I know xtravagant is spelled wrong, but Venus was a part of the house of xtravaganza.

  • I'm writing a story that covers racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. Any advice you can give me?

Yeah, it's going to be a big story, because it needs to be done considering transgender women of color are murdered all the time and you never hear about it. That's what this story is about, but she falls in love with a heterosexual, white man and through out the story it's never mentioned she's trans until later on after her murder...because they find out she's trans and murder her for it.

Heavy stuff. I know. I'm minoring in LGBT studies and so I know a lot about the LGBTQ+ community, but I'm afraid I'm going to make mistakes through out. I'll do my research when it comes to transgender, but I am not a woman of color and I don't face racism on a daily basis. And the guy she falls for isn't going to be perfect by the way. He'll be pretty privilege blind at first until she shows him otherwise.

Also, it's set in Montgomery, Alabama. Do you think that's cliche?

Anyway, just any advice would be very helpful when writing this story, as I don't want to make any errors and I want it to be perfect.

    Thanks.

  • Is there a religion that is similar to these characteristics?

I'm not religious, but I'm trying to find inner peace. I believe that when people die, their spirit lives on around us, not as ghosts but in nature. These spirits are divine, and this is what people think "God" is. I believe in being a good person and not judging. I believe the human function is to make the soul happy, but you have to be virtuous to be truly happy and to truly fulfill the means of the soul.

So is there a religion that's like this? Please just answer the question. I don't care if you think I'm wrong. Just answer the question.

  • I can't think of critical/analytical questions about the Odyssey after reading it. Do you have any?

We have to read the Odyssey and I did, but I can't think of any critical thinking questions. I thought of some earlier as we were reading them, but I can't think of any new ones that are more about the last few chapters of the epic.

    Do you have any?
