  • Where has corporal punishment gone??

Children these days are suffering because they have no discipline in their lives. At home or at school, these kids are enabled, and emboldened to do or say whatever they want, to whomever they want, without fear of repercussions. They are increasingly disrespectful to their parents, disobedient, and dishonest. The primary reason for all of this seems to be a lack of discipline, and in particular an absence of the use of corporal punishment. If these kids today were being spanked the way kids were just a few years ago, all of these problems would disappear. I know that when I was a kid, I only needed to be spanked once, and I wasn't going to do whatever I did wrong again. Unfortunately, parents and teachers of today don't want the responsibility of disciplining kids properly. They are now reaping what they have sown, enabled, emboldened, bratty kids who are impossible to control.Instead of turning our boys into men, they're turning into wimps.Bring back the paddle!

  • Would you stay, or would you leave her?

I have a friend named Frank who is married to a woman he doesn't love anymore, and she doesn't love him anymore either. They've been together for 10 yrs, and have a 7 y/o daughter. He stays with her because of his daughter, and he knows if he divorces her, she'll move far away and he won't see her anymore. So he stays for his daughter. Their relationship seems irretrievably broken, since she has cheated on him. He can't stand the thought of not seeing his daughter every day, and he can't stand the thought of continueing to live with a woman in a loveless marriage. What to do?

  • Yahoo violation?! The sphincter police strike again!?

Can you believe yahoo took down my question about Bush being a religeous fanatic?! Has this happened to anyone else out there? It's hard to believe that yahoo is in the hip pocket of the religeous right wing, and it's a shame that they're against stem cell research, just as bush is. Shame on you yahoo.

  • Doctors, why are Non-MD's ordering imaging examinations?

Does it bother the MD's out there that so many non-MD's, i.e. podicatrists, p.a.'s, and np's are ordering so many imaging tests? Is it appropriate for a podiatrist to order a vascular study like a venous doppler ultrasound of the leg, to r/o dvt? Most MD's understand that pedal edema is not an indication for this test, but a podiatrist will order one, and stat!? Is it appropriate for a PA to order an echocardiogram, or a CT scan? It seems that these non-MD's have been let off the leash, and are operating as MD's when they are not. It seems very inappropriate to me now, as it did 20 years ago, when this was not allowed to go on. Why is it permitted now? Obviously, most of the tests ordered by these non-MD's turn out to be normal, and essentially a waste of time and money. This has alot to do with the high cost of health care, and especially health insurance, and I think this should not be allowed to continue.

  • Doctors, why so many tests?!!!?

I am a technologist working in a diagnostic imaging center, and I have noticed a significant increase in the number of seemingly unnecessary tests being ordered by doctors. Even the patients wonder why they're having these tests. They often wonder aloud if the doctors are just trying to make money. I am starting to wonder the same thing myself. I'm fairly certain that a healthy 40 year old doesn't need a carotid doppler ultrasound. I'm also sure that a 60 year old with CHF and pedal edema doesn't need a venous doppler of the leg to r/o DVT, especially when ordered by a podiatrist! Do you really need a CT scan of the sinuses, when a plain xray will do? Do you really need to order multiple imaging exam on a young, healthy person just because they're obese? I'd love to hear from any doctors out there as to what their rationale is for ordering so many unnecessary tests. Considering the fact that health care insurance is only getting MORE expensive, and this is one reason why.

Why would he threaten to aim missiles at Europe, if he wasn't psychotic, or just plain stupid?
