  • How long does the Eucharist remain Jesus' body and blood?

I know that when I go to Mass that I truly receive the Body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus; and I receive actual grace to help me in my walk with Christ. But how long does it stay the body and blood of Christ once inside of me? Does it only last for a short time, and is that the reason why my priest tells us we should go to mass daily?

  • Is it possible to have a blind or handicapped priest?

I noticed this old article with the following headline: College Student Hopes to Become First Blind Priest. It got me thinking. I have never seen or heard of a blind or even handicapped priest. Is this against the rules in the Roman Catholic Church? Just wondering.

  • What is the novena to free a soul from purgatory?

As a child in parochial school, on all soul's day, we were taught to say 6 Our Father's, 6 hail Mary's and 6 Glory Be to the Father prayers. A soul would be released from purgatory if we said it with good intention. Is this still the rule in Catholicism? My dad died recently.

  • What saint should I pray to so I can get a job?

Thought there was a specific saint who helps one find a job, but can't remember. Would it be OK to just pray to Mary?

  • Where is Christ in Catholicism?

It has been my experience that what truly is taught by any religious group becomes most pronounced and/or apparent at funerals. Recently I attended a Catholic funeral where the following "prayer" was read and given to each attendee:

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help, and sought Thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, My Mother! to Thee I come; before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the Word incarnate! despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Why do Catholics pray to and make Mary a god who can give mercy, help, protection, and aid? Wasn't Mary a created being, a sinner like you and I who needed a Saviour? Her own recorded words state just that. Doesn't Jesus say, "I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man comes unto the Father but by Me?"

  • Anyone else try this?

I found this website when searching for ways to reduce emissions: www.save-gas-and-globe.com. I bought the small 10 cap package (only $22) since it had a money back guarantee. Claims of saving gas and reducing emissions seemed far fetched, but hey, what's $22. So far, after 3 tanks, I can say I have gotten 8% better mileage, and have been able to use 87 octane instead of 93. Our state doesn't test for emissions, but my truck is running better and with more power. Anyone else try this? I'm saving $3 per tank just on octane plus better mileage.

  • Is Al Gore right?

Personally I think Al Gore got on the global warming bandwagon for his own ego trip. But, if he is correct that global warming is occuring, and that we should do what we can to halt its progress, it seems we should do the simple things first. I found a simple pill that you put in your tank that reduces emissions by up to 75%. As anyone tried this or a product like it? It is at www.save-gas-and-globe.com.

  • Can we reduce greenhouse gases with a simple pill?

I found this product at www.save-gas-and-globe.com. According to the site, emissions are reduced by as much as 75% when using this pill, and tests were conducted by an independent testing service. One was even done by the City government of Wichita. Should we not all try this to do our part?

  • When did the holy day celebrated on August 15 by Catholics become part of church law?

My church recently had a vote on whether we should be required to attend mass on holy days. They said this was the newest holy day. How can an infallible pope change something like this from a previous infallible pope?

  • Confused with Roman Catholicism?

I have been told by many on these pages that the RCC does not endorse praying to Mary, that she is not a God to Catholics, and that she is not a mediator between us and God (the Bible says there is only one mediator). But I just attended a Catholic funeral and the following "prayer" was handed to all attendees to quietly mediate upon.

'Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help, or sought Thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, My Mother! to Thee I come; before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the Word incarnate! despise not my petitions, but, in Thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

No changes were made by me as far as grammar, punctuation, or capital letters. Please tell me how it is possible to construe such a 'prayer' as anything but? There is no mention of appealing to Christ through Mary, that must be implied.

  • How can a Christian believe all that the Roamn Catholic Church teaches?

This question is especially designed for Meg M...I hope you too will do a little reading. Your church teaches that Mary is God....false; that there is a place between heaven and hell called purgatory....false; that the Mass is an unbloody sacrifice to atone for sins, as though Christ's once for all sacrifice did not do the job...false; that we have several mediators between us and God depending upon our need at the time...false; that our works win us favor with God and allow us into heaven...false. In your reading, do you ever simply read the Bible alone. If you did you may find salvation is through faith alone, in Christ alone, by grace alone, for God's glory alone. I hope and pray that you will continue to seek truth.

  • Confused about Roman Catholicism?

Jesus said, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no where to lay His head." Jesus lived a life a self denial and complete charity. Why is it that the church who claims to represent Him has an extra 600 million bucks to pay those who were sexually abused by its leaders. Forget the sexual abuse claim, how can one diocese have a spare 600 mil when there are so many needs in the world? Can one truly say that the present day Roman Catholic Church really represents the all caring, self denying Christ?
