1 AnswerSculpture4 years agoHow hard/easy was it for you to get a job as a teenager in high school?
I'm in high school and looking for a part-time job, but I'm having a hard time because of limitations on age and experience. Was curious to hear about how it went/how it's going for others.

1 AnswerFast Food5 years agoShould I take AP Statistics or statistics at my local community college?
I took AP Calc AB last year and it was killer, so I don't want to do BC. I don't like math that much in the first place tbh, and that class sortof solidified my hatred for the subject—which is why I thought, hey I'll just do practical math this year.
I needed another math credit so I took it, but it was embarrassingly easy and felt like a waste of time, so I want to switch to something else.
On top of this I've only been to virtual school, so I don't know if taking stats (a MATH class) as my first class in a brick-and-mortar school is a good idea.
Thoughts? :/

2 AnswersMalaysia5 years agoCalculus with Data Table find f'(x) ..I'm stumped?
The function f is continuous on the interval [3, 13] with selected values of x and f(x) given in the table below. Use the data in the table to approximate f ′(12).
x 3 4 7 11 13
f(x) 2 8 10 12 22
Idk how to solve this? (this is Calculus 1/AP Calc AB btw) I thought it would be anywhere in between 12 to 22, and the average of that is 17--but it isn't a linear graph and that would be too easy an answer for calc. Plus, they aren't asking me for f(12) but for f'(12)...
All my other practice problems are different types of questions using either reimann sums or the average value function, but I don't feel like those apply here and it's more logical...am i wrong? Do I need to use a function to solve (like avg value function)?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
2 AnswersHomework Help5 years agoPlein air artists—do you ever make value sketches?
Out of curiosity, I was wondering if any of you plein air artists (or artists in general) make value sketches (grayscale/monotone) before starting a drawing/painting. Do you still use them, or maybe previously used them until you got better at judging value? Do you think they're helpful or a waste of time?
I'm considering buying a few grey markers to make value sketches before I paint and also for practice reasons (I want to improve my sense of value before becoming overwhelmed by color). I'm new to this and don't know if it's necessary or not, but I'll probably get them anyway and use them for other projects if it comes down to that.
3 AnswersPainting5 years agoIntegrals to find volume? (square cross-sections)?
Okay, so I tried this question a couple times on my own (my method is in this picture: http://postimg.org/image/cmdyg8po7/ ) but i keep getting 72, which isn't right. I know how to find volume with cross-sections that are semicircles and triangles but for some reason the square is stumping me.
The base of a solid is the circle x^2 + y^2 = 9. Cross sections of the solid perpendicular to the x-axis are squares. What is the volume, in cubic units, of the solid?

36 (wrong)
72 (also wrong)

2 AnswersMathematics5 years agoAP Calc..Integrals & Velocity? Please check my answers? thanks!?
A particle is moving with velocity v(t) = t^2 – 9t + 18 with distance, s measured in meters, left or right of zero, and t measured in seconds, with t between 0 and 8 seconds inclusive. The position at time t = 0 sec is 1 meter right of zero, that is, s(0) = 1. Find:
1. The average velocity over the interval 0 to 8 seconds:
Okay so I took the integral with definite limits from 1 to 8, and I plugged it in my calculator and got 26.6666...or 80/3. Is this the right way to complete the problem? ....I wasn't sure whether i needed C or not (I found C=1) but i think not because i have definite limits?
2. The instantaneous velocity and speed at time 5 secs:
I'm pretty sure on this one..I plugged in 5 for t in the v(t) equation and got -2.
3. The time interval(s) when the particle is moving right:
Idk for sure..I used a calculator and graphed the equation of v(t). It's a parabola and some of it is below the x-axis (negative). So I said that the time intervals when the particle is moving right is when t is from 0 to 3 [0,3] and from 6 to 8 [6,8], because there graph is positive, and i think the velocity should be positive when the particle is moving right. is this correct?
4. The time interval(s) when the particle is:
a. going faster
b. slowing down
For these i used the derivative of v(t) and got a(t)=2t-9. I graphed it like the one before. when a>0 i think it's going faster (accelerating), so the particle goes faster when t>4.5 It goes slower when t<4.5
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoDeleted videos off SD card while on computer, but won t delete off my camera?
I put an SD card in the computer and deleted a couple videos. When I put the memory card back into my camera, the camera says "This motion image cannot be played".
It doesn t even let me delete the files (says "Some picture can not be deleted").
Can I do anything about this or will my memory card always have these files that I can not do anything with (I can not play them or delete them)? I don t care about the videos themselves I just want to do something about this problem
4 AnswersCameras5 years agoI want to play volleyball but not competitively?
I'm a junior in HS. I've never played volleyball before but want to try. I don't really want to play competitively (i'm short and not that athletic + don't want to get too stressed out as it is), and I'm homeschooled, so there aren't any sports clubs at school. I know one other person who likes to play volleyball for fun, but I don't know enough people who would want to meet up and play now and then.
Are there any clubs/organizations where a complete beginner could play? Are the only places I can play competitive? I don't know where to start because I don't know enough people that I can play with just for fun (most of my friends don't really like exercising in general).
1 AnswerVolleyball5 years agoWhich Dip Pen Holder(s)?
This will be my first time using dip pens. I can not decide between the Tachikawa 25 or the Tachikawa 40. The nibs I have are:
--Deleter Comic Pen Nib - Maru (Mapping) Model
--Tachikawa Comic Pen Nib - G Model
So, I want a nib holder that can accommodate these two nibs, but I'm not sure which one is better.
Is it preferable to have a thinner holder for a thinner nib (and vice versa), or does it not really matter?
Also, are either of the holders specified above good for these nibs (which one is preferable?), or should I just get two separate holders for the different nib sizes (and if so, which ones)?
Thanks!

All my work is down below, but even after trying several times I can't figure it out. My answer isn't even one of the choices. :(
An ice block is melting at the rate of 1.5 inches per hour. How fast is the surface area of the ice cube changing at the instant the ice block has a side length of 2 inches?
So I did:
dV/dt=3x^2(dx/dt)
-1.5=3(2)^2(dx/dt)
-1.5/12=(dx/dt)
-1/8=(dx/dt)
dSA/dt=12x(dt/dx)
dSA/dt=12x(-1/8)
dSA/dt=12(2)(-1/8)
dSA/dt=-3
I'm not sure where I went wrong...?
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoSpontaneous Reactions?
You watch water falling from the top of a waterfall to the bottom. Determine whether this phenomenon occurs spontaneously. Then characterize the process of moving the water from the bottom of the waterfall to the top in terms of whether it occurs spontaneously.
I don't really get it? I thought spontaneous reactions could only occur chemically, and so this is more of a physical thing? They favor the products and proceed on their own.
