How do I stop my email from sending spam?
My email address keeps sending out spam. Not just to my contacts, but to everyone I've ever emailed, and also back to myself. I've changed my password a number of times, and there is nothing in my "sent" folder. The spam is all from different sources - prescription drugs, cheap marijuana, acai cures, penile enlargement, weight loss... no common theme. Please let me know if there is anything I can do besides changing my email address... Thank you!!!
2 AnswersOther - Internet9 years agoDo you recommend any SoCal spots for camping and stargazing?
I am looking for a great go-to spot to camp, look at stars, and watch meteor showers. Some place with a very clear view of the night sky, and not a lot of other people. Please be specific (example: instead of saying "mojave desert," specifically say "Rainbow basin in the mojave desert" etc) or please give coordinates/directions. Thank you so much in advance!!!
3 AnswersCamping9 years agoAny advice on Big Bear hiking in the snow?
I've been to Big Bear a couple of times during the summer, and have hiked holcomb valley and a few other places. For the first time, I will be going during the winter (xmas through new years) and was wondering if you had any suggestions on trails that would be accessible during this snowy time of the year? Thanks!
1 AnswerOther - Outdoor Recreation1 decade agoDo you have suggestions of classic Disney Adventure movies?
For my cousins birthday, I want to give him a set of classic adventure movies. So far, I have:
Swiss Family Robinson
The Journey of Natty Gan
The Incredible Journey
Toby Tyler
Treasure Island
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Flight of the Navigator
They don't necessarily have to be strictly disney, but definately old school, and nothing animated. Thanks in advance!

Do you know of any cool hikes in the southern california area? Ones that have a unique twist - like Millard Canyon or Vincent's Gulch (they have an explorable mine at the end), Carey's Castle, Solstice Canyon (has ruins and crumbling statues), Bridge to No Where, etc. Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Outdoor Recreation1 decade agoHow do you stop a dog from jumping over my fence?
I have a five foot brick wall in my backyard. About five times, my dog has jumped over the wall and out into the street when I'm not home, and I'm afraid he will either get hit by a car, attacked by another dog, or worse. When I'm home, he stays around me, its only when I'm at work.
It's not a matter of him not getting enough attention or exercise - I do work a lot, but he gets a minimum ninety minute walk every day (rain or shine), plus an excursion once a week (hike, park, petco, visit my parents, etc). I also don't think he's trying to run away, because he usually stays in the area, and runs up to my car when I get home. I'm pretty sure an electric fence won't work, because if he's chasing a cat or opossum, nothing will stop him (I put a cactus in the place where he jumps over and he ran right through it. He came home covered in spikes). I've put stuff on top of the fence like heavy pots and extra bricks, but he or the critters he's chasing knock them down. I can't rebuild the fence, since i'm renting. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
9 AnswersDogs1 decade agoLate Night in Southern California?
So I like to do things while everyone else is asleep - I work late (I'm a bartender) and when I get off I don't like going straight to bed, I'm a total nightowl. Do you have any ideas of what's open 24 hours (besides dennys)? Most parks close by 10pm, they don't show movies after one am (well except pornos but um... I'd rather not). I like hiking at night, but most trails close at sunset. Do you know of any museums, hiking trails, zoos, parks, record stores, libraries, beaches, etc that are open 24 hours in SoCal and are good for someone to go to alone? Thanks!

What are your favorite trails to go hiking/mountain biking/exploring in Southern California? Preferably ones without a lot of other people on them.
1 AnswerOther - Outdoor Recreation1 decade agoHow to maintain a somewhat old rifle?
So my grandfather just passed away, and in his attic I found a 22 winchester rifle that he used to hunt rabbits and stuff before he moved to the city. It hasn't been used, cleaned, oiled, dusted, or even seen the light of day for at least twenty nine years. If I cleaned it up, then took it out shooting, would it work or will I just blow my arm off? Also, do I need to register it in my own name or can I just keep it?
6 AnswersHunting1 decade agoDo you tip based on service or on experience?
So I had this couple come in and sit in my section. I greeted them immediately, offered them martinis suggested some entrees, their food came out quickly, I checked on them within two minutes (they said everything was OK), refilled their water whenever it was half empty, checked on them twice more, offered dessert, and boxed their leftovers for them. After they paid, the lady said her sandwich was tasteless (she ordered a turkey avocado melt - no cheese, no tomatoes, no mayo, turkey plain grilled instead of marinated). They had already paid, and they had ample time to make any complaints, so there was pretty much nothing I could do except apologize. I asked if they wanted to speak with a manager, but they declined. They left me a two dollar tip on a sixty dollar tab.
We leave a comment card at every table, and I've had people say things like "Waitress was really sweet and attentive but food took too long to come out" - they left me zero tip. When I go out, I tip based on service, not on the food/restaurant. If the food takes a long time because the server forgot to put my order in and then doesn't apologize for it, that's one thing... but if I get good service I don't take it out on the waiter for things beyond his control. However some of my friends say, Why should they tip well if the experience as a whole wasn't good? That makes sense too, I'm just wondering what they common consensus is.
5 AnswersOther - Dining Out1 decade agoDo you know the name of this book about otters?
I read a book when I was younger (it's probably a "young adult" fantasy book) about a lady who, when she sees bright, reflective light, gets drawn into an alternate, magical universe. She is taken in by two mentors: an old lady and an anthropomorphic talking otter who she kind of falls in love with. They teach her magic, and they are trying to fight some evil force - I forget what the evil force was. On the cover, there was a picture of the otter floating in space and reaching for a bright light (like a star or something). Any ideas???
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoHow do I keep unleashed dogs from coming near my dog?
My dog was abused when he was little, and he does not like strangers or strange dogs coming up to him. Since my dog is shy, I avoid places like off-leash dog parks, dog beaches, etc, because I respect owners who want to let their dogs run free. However, when I am taking my dog for walks around the neighborhood, or hikes, we are often approached by loose dogs. When owners don't do anything to stop their dog despite my pleas, what should I do? I don't want to mace a friendly dog, but then even friendly dogs will try to bite/chase my dog once they sense his fear. And the owners always get mad and say I have a bad dog because he doesn't like his butt being smelled by strangers! If a dog will stay by his or her owner, I have no problem with it being off-leash, unfortunately that is rarely the case, and the more my dog gets lunged at, the less doggy-social he will be. I want to introduce him to other dogs, but he gets too scared and will either run or snap, and i don't want anyone to get hurt....
