What do you think of this skirt please? Suitable for work in an office environment?
Ive always loved these calf length, all round pleated skirts but they are getting harder to obtain. Whats your likes / dislikes of them?
6 AnswersFashion & Accessories5 years agoWhere can I buy a very similar underskirt / waist slip to this one?
This underskirt is my mums, its from Contessa who are no longer trading. Im after one the same or at least very similar to go under an unlined red pleated skirt Ive just bought. They are not easy to get hold of. Anyone know where I can get one from, also what do you think of this one of my mums (pictured)?
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories5 years agoMen! Are you irritated and angered at the extravagance of female dressing?
As a clothes OBSESSED woman myself I love clothes in fine fabrics. As women, we have access to gorgeous silks and satins which men obviously dont. My husband thinks its all unnecessary though. Is it, or is it a womans 'right' to dress femininly and extravagantly? Princess Diana (pictured) was a typical extravagant clothes lover I think. Was she a prime example of over the top, far too expensive, extravagant female dressing? the gown pictured cost an estimated £31,000

13 AnswersRoyalty6 years agoWhat are your fondest memories of Princess Dianas clothes?
I was VERY influenced by her as were many women when she was alive. I loved her:
Daywear, particularly satin blouses and those fabulous long, stitched down all round pleated skirts.
Evening wear, her gorgeous figure hugging evening dresses but I especially adored her wonderfully feminine, tight bodiced, hugely vast skirted, extravagant ballgowns in the finest, most expensive Thai silks, satins, chiffon's and velvets.

1 AnswerRoyalty8 years agoWhats the best, least labour intensive way to iron or press pleated skirts?
I wear a lot of long all round pleated skirts for work, to be fair my husband always used to press them for me but it used to take him ages! He doesnt really have the time now, plus we have 3 daughters who wear pleated skirts to school so I was wondering is there a quicker but equally good way of doing them? Are these steamers any good?
1 AnswerFashion & Accessories8 years agoWhat is your favourite female bank uniform?
I used to work in the Halifax and Barclays in the early 90's. They had fabulous uniforms then. Anyone remember them? The fabulouse satin, puffed sleeved blouses and the lovely calf length, stitched down all round pleated skirts? Anyone remember any others? Yvonne x
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories8 years agoFavourite female corporate uniforms?
Im sure a lot of men will answer this and Im sure that nurses uniforms will feature quite a lot.
Im not talking about that type of thing, Im talking about 'ordinary' uniforms.
I used to work in Lunn Poly travel agents and the Halifax building society.
At Lunn Poly we wore gorgeous deep red soft satin long sleeved blouses with a lovely ***** bow sash and padded shoulders with really slim fitting rear split navy blue pencil skirts.
In the Halifax we wore pale blue satin blouses with short fitted royal blue jackets. We were also issued 3 different styles of skirt and trousers. I never wore the trousers but the skirts were a mid thigh (20 inch ish) tight rear split pencil skirt, also a long (33 inches ish) calf length tight fitting rear pleated skirt and also, my favourite, a long calf length stitched down all round pleated skirt. These uniforms were actually a pleasure to wear and many people commented on them. I just wondered if there were any nice uniforms that you remember?

4 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoMy husband thinks £5,800 is excessive to pay for our daughters wedding dress. I say its not!?
Our only daughter, Dawn wants her beautiful Ivory 100% Thai silk satin wedding gown for her big day and my husband is trying to discourage herb from having it. Its a truly fabulous dress. It has a very slim fitting, diamante encrusted, very heavily boned, corsetted bodice and the most extravagant, plain, hugely full, flowing skirt you've ever seen! Dawn looked wonderful in it. I said immediately she could have it, now he's saying no. What do you think? We dont need to get into debt to buy it by the way

8 AnswersCleaning & Laundry9 years agoIs there any such thing as over dressing?
Im often "accused" of over dressing for work, as a woman, do you think you can ever over dress? I work as a legal secretary.
I love to wear very striking soft silk / satin blouses with short tailored, fitted jackets. I ALWAYS wear skirts, NEVER trousers, generally slim fitting rear split pencil skirts or calf length stitched down all round pleated skirts with lovely elegant heels. Surely thats not over dressing is it? Arent other women just under dressing lately?

5 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoGirls seem to have gone back to wearing skirts for school. Why do you think this shift has occurred?
When I was in school in the 80's we had to wear skirts, there was no choice, not that we minded. Then, unfortunately schools allowed girls to wear trousers which was a shame I think. However, I notice from my daughters and their friend that skirts seem more popular again. This is a great thing I think but just wondered why the sudden change?
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture9 years agoLovely silky, elegant uniforms. Why dont companies seem to use them anymore?
When I left school I worked in Lunn Poly travel agents and wore a lovely bright red soft satin blouse, short fitted navy blue jacket and a lovely long blue rear split pencil skirt. I also worked at the Halifax where we used to wear pale blue satin blouses, fitted turquoise jackets and gorgeous, turquoise, calf length, stitched down all round pleated skirts which looked fabulously classy. Where have all the nice female uniforms gone? Are there any you wore or liked and why?
