Looking for nonhuman protagonists?
Please no vampires, werewolves or chick lit. (unless it really, really fits my request and isn't the typical crap)
Specifically, what I would like to see is a female protagonist with special abilities/power/strength/etc., with an interesting heritage or background. She could be a half alien with acid for blood like Ripley from the 4th Alien movie. She could be a once-human android, or enhanced human like the girl from that crappy bionic woman TV show. She could be a human-turned-elf like Tinker from the novel Tinker. I'd like to see an interesting nonhuman (unique, not one of many) female protagonist along those lines. Transformations are a big plus (meaning she starts out as human and is changed).
Any suggestions are appreciated. (just please read the request!)
3 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoLooking for a Transformation book (vampire, alien, supernatural being, etc.)?
I'm looking for a book where the protagonist undergoes a transformation. A vampire book where the protagonist is 'turned' near the beginning (ideally not that smutty girl-power fluff), or something like Wen Spencer's Tinker where the protagonist is turned into an elf. I really like the immortality thing. I've also enjoyed books where the protagonist finds him/herself thrust into an alien culture (being transformed into an alien, or not) and has to deal.
I like fantasy and science fiction, though ideally nothing too dry in the latter category.

Some of my favorite stories involve transformations of some kind: Human -> Vampire, Male -> Female, Human -> Alien, Mortal -> Immortal, Alive -> Dead; etc.
I like to see the changes the protagonist undergoes, and the reactions of those around him/her.
I'd much appreciate any suggestions.
1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoLooking for a TV show to watch.?
My two favorite shows: Dexter & Dead Like Me
Then The Office, and Buffy comes in fourth I guess even though it kind of sucked--it had its moments.
Anyways, I'd like something American or British. I'm sort of specifically requesting English language shows this time around. (barring anime, my favorite show is probably Korea's Coffee Prince, moreso than even the two greats I listed above)
I've looked around a lot and haven't seen anything that's really stuck for me. True Blood is kind of stupid, which was disappointing--I'd read a couple of the novels it's based on. My preference is something supernatural... Something like BBC's Being Human, which looks really awesome from the pilot. Hopefully it's going somewhere....
Anyways! Suggest away if you please! Something with great dialogue!
