It is something that I'd like to learn about. While my reading level is fairly advanced, I am 16 and would prefer not have to sift through flowery language for the point.

1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoPlease help me interpret this quote from Paradise Lost...?
In Paradise Lost, Satan is speaking. He says
"Thoughts, whither have ye led me? With what sweet
compulsion thus transported to forget
What hither brought us? Hate, not love, nor hope
Of paradise for Hell, hope here to taste
Of pleasure, but all pleasure to destroy,
Save what is in destroying; othe rjoy
To me is lost. Then let me not let pass
Occasion which now smiles; behold alone
the woman, opportune to all attempts,
her husband, for I vie far round, not nigh,
Whose higher intellectual more I shun,
and strength, of courage hughty, and of limb
Heroic built , though of terrestrial mold;
For not informidable, exempt from wound,
I not; so much hath Hell debased, and pain
Enfeebled me, to what I was in Heaven.
She fair, divinely fair, fit love for gods,
Not terrible, though terror be in love."
My feeling is that it means that Satan sees the beauty of the world intended for Adam and Eve and wishes to destroy it, and he remarks on Eve's more feeble nature than Adam's. He goes on to say that Eve is fair enough to be a love for gods, but love is a terrible thing anyhow.

3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow to get interested in Spanish/Latino culture?
I learn language fairly quickly and have interest in many cultures. Recently, I have learned some Hindi/Urdu with the help of Bollywood and a friend.
I have been trying to learn Spanish, but I have had a hard time getting into the culture. This is perhaps because it is not particularly exotic to an American-- in spite of the fact that I truthfully know very little about it.
Can you help me begin my learning experience with some ideas for learning or articles? I genuinely do want to learn!
