I was born in '64. I'm married to a man I don't deserve, and have 4 beautiful children. I love dogs, singing, reading, typing, emailing and most of all I love my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I was abused by my dad after my mom died (when I was 10) - in every way that didn't leave a mark. Because of his abuse I became mentally ill with bipolar II and borderline personality disorder. I have been to hell and back, and find great pleasure now in helping other people through their struggles - and I get my jollies seeing other people's needs met. I have a chihuahua and a blue heeler, who are best buds and bring me a lot of joy. My employment history is in secretarial work and food service. What a mix, right? I am on disability because of my BPD, and while I'm doing much better I have to be watchful of my stress level so I don't regress. I'm Italian, Danish and Scott.

  • Benadryl for a sneezy dog?

I have a minpin that sneezes all day long, especially when she's outside. She likes to sleep on my bed with me, but that also seems to set her off. Can I give her a small portion of an allergy pill? She's about 10 pounds.

  • How do I determine the value of my 1985 Mazda Protege?

I've tried KBB, NADA, and all the used car sites I could find. The very few that go back before 1990 don't have any Proteges listed. Is there a site for classic cars? (As I understand it when a car reaches 25 years old it's considered a classic). Any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance.

  • Tonsillitis with open mouth sores?

Yesterday my son was diagnosed with tonsillitis. He was given prescriptions for vicodin and penicillin. Today he has open sores on his lips, his gums are bleeding and he has what looks like ulcers on his tongue. Not a lot of blood, but very painful and nasty-looking. The doctor's office is closed, and I'm looking here as well as other places to see if anyone knows what might be going on. Oh - my son is 21 years old. He does not drink alcohol, and has had only chicken noodle soup and water since he left the doctor yesterday morning. His temp was 102 at the doctor's and is now down to 100.

  • What will my daughter need for skiing?

My daughter is going on a youth retreat soon and someone has paid the fee for her to go skiing while there. Is it possible to outfit her inexpensively? Buying all new brand-name things is out of the question. We live in the South so thrift stores and even discount stores are no help. What are the absolute necessities? I'd like her to be able to take advantage of this generous offer but I don't want her to get sick or injured because she wasn't wearing what she needed.

  • Can cats be given aspirin or aspirin substitutes?

My daughter-in-law's cat was hit in the side by a falling ladder. We don't know what part of the ladder or how hard because of poor lighting. The cat is in a lot of pain - is there anything we can give her to make her more comfortable? (They have no money for a vet)

  • Gen. 30:35-40: Jacob stripped branches to control appearance of flock offspring?

Jacob set peeled branches in front of the sheep & goats when they mated so they would have streaked, spotted and colored offspring. What difference does it make what an animal is looking at when it mates? Was it God continuing to bless Jacob when Laban tried to cheat him again? Scriptural references will be much appreciated.

  • Vaginal itching after hysterectomy?

I had a lavh (laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy) 2 weeks ago. For almost a week now, I've had vaginal itching that feels like a yeast infection but without the yeast infection. My husband says it's just the vaginal sutures itching as they heal - is he most likely right?

  • New laptop (Acer Aspire 7720-6569) disconnects from network frequently, only comp in house with problem?

Is this most likely something I'm going to have to take up with Acer, or should I start by contacting the store I bought it at? Might it be as simple as a setting on the computer? Help! (By disconnecting frequently, I mean that sometimes I'll be online for just a few seconds before the signal is lost - seldom more than half an hour at a time. Sometimes it reconnects by itself, sometimes it's easy for me to get it to reconnect, sometimes I just have to walk away for a few hours.

  • Low WBC sign of leukemia?

I had a CBC done recently that shows my WBC as being low (3.8). My doctor drew blood again today, to see if it was a fluke and my WBC normalizes, or if it gets lower and is then a possible sign of leukemia.

I thought LOW RBC and HIGH WBC were indicators of leukemia - why would a low white count indicate leukemia?

I've done a little googling and learned just enough to hang myself - I've been unreasonably fatigued lately, had lots of headaches (like every day), and have an unexplained cough. The headaches may have been caused by a cataract (removed today), and the cough may be a GI issue, which will be looked into later this week.

I don't know whether to blow this off until the results come in, or start learning what I can about leukemia and what to expect if test results come out positive (including aspiration/biopsy).

ALSO - if I have leukemia, am I better off at Duke University Medical Center in Durham NC, or Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY?

  • How much will do the job safely?

This has a very long story attached to it, so I'm going to go straight to the point at hand: how much ativan can a 275 pound person take to knock them out without taking them out permanently? I have 4.5 mg in me now, and it hasn't even taken the edge off of the anxiety that needs to be addressed. I also have hydryxyzine, which it turns out is more effective, but if I combine them, I'm afraid again that I'll be flirting with danger.

I am in a parasuicidal state and agreed with my therapist to stay stoned on sedatives until Monday. Sounds crazy and irresponsible but that's only because I haven't gone into any detail.

So the question is: how much more ativan can/should I take, and/or should I add hydroxyzine?

This is not a prank or a how-do-I-kill-myself question. I'm trying to stay alive but for now can only do it in a stupor. Again, long story.

Helpful knowledge: I'm married and in treatment for mental illness.

  • Should I call 911?

I have a history of mental illness and have been hospitalized over 25 times since '99 (not since '05) for suicidal depression. I just yesterday promised my 12 year old daughter I did not need the hospital, but I'm really having to fight to not OD on sedatives.

My husband is asleep, and as screwy as it sounds I don't want to wake him up just because I'm feeling suicidal - probably because we've been through this so many times for so long.

I'm not safe to drive, because of my desire to self-harm and also because I've taken my nighttime meds which have sedating qualities. (Taking just the prescribed meds and not OD'ing was quite a victory).

Should I call 911 and check myself in, and leave a note for hubby and the kids, or just take an extra sedative to knock myself out and deal with it in the morning? (this has been a constant for several days so it's not like things will be better after a good night's sleep. I usually wake up worse than the night before.)

  • Blue heeler chewing her fur off?

I have a 3-year old female blue heeler (Australian Cattle Dog). Her coat is medium length and coarse, and she has a softer shorter undercoat. She does not have fleas or ticks, and (almost) never scratches up near her head. But she almost constantly scratches her back (just above the tail) and belly by chewing on them - to the point she is missing patches of hair. I've used itch stick, which is supposed to help heal the dry skin, soothe the itch and make it taste bitter to prevent chewing, but she just rolls onto her back and kind of does the twist until the medicine is gone. She also sometimes scratches her back this way. She's miserable and is getting scabs on her back from so much chewing.

Is it time for a neck collar that just won't let her turn her head back to her butt? I've used a cone collar before but she's smart and strong and the cone didn't last two days.

  • Will she accept a strange puppy?

My dog delivered a single stillborn pup this afternoon. I found out there is a 2-week-old puppy near me whose mother has abandoned it, its owner is looking for a dog that will nurse it. I said they can bring the 2 week old here and see if my dog will adopt it or refuse it - what's the likelihood of this being successful vs. my dog attacking the puppy?

  • What's faster than a speeding migraine?

Tylenol can't touch it, it laughs in the face of Imitrex, and chews up Medrol (steroids) like candy and mocks me, a foolish mortal, for daring to come against it.

I'm on day 10 of the migraine, day 5 of the Medrol regimen, if anything worse then when it started. Ice packs, naps, dark rooms, silence, stillness, soft music, no music, warm, cool, showers, washclothes of any temperature, fan blowing on me, fan off, (typing with my eyes closed) - this is a steel-reinforced, diehard, sonofajackal migraine.

Had a similar one last year, but last year the Medrol got rid of it. Both times the migraine was precipitated with a convulsive episode (non-seizure, MRI & EEG show nothing) and came with the last two fingers on my left hand going to sleep - and staying that way. Last year's convulsion thingy was late June, this year's early September. Am not able to come up with a commonality between them that is not a consistent in my life..

  • Will my dog's nipples go back to normal after weaning?

The puppies were born 7-7; the front nipples have shrunk back, but the farther back they go the bigger they get - the ones in back hang down 3-4 inches, and show cleavage. (!!!)

Is this common? I've seen nursing dogs before and never saw ... well, boobs on them.

(The puppies are on solid food, and nurse in the morning only - seems more as a form of comfort than nutrition)
