Should the US drop out of foreign wars and focus instead on our own problems?
Needless to say, and whatever problems may exist in the rest of the world, the US has a laundry list of its own problems. Drugs, gang violence, our justice system is dysfunctional, any real "improvement" in our economy is debatable, etc. Yet we seem to be inextricably tangled in foreign affairs, many of which are arguably "none of our business". Do you think we should drop our involvement in these overseas issues so that we can focus our attention and resources on our own dysfunctions? Or do we have a moral obligation as a powerful country to stand up for the inherent and inalienable rights of people worldwide, to protect the innocent from being bullied (oppressed, tortured, slaughtered, violated in every way imaginable)? If so, to what extent can we ethically lend help to struggling and suffering people abroad? If not, then why not? Detailed answers are much appreciated.
4 AnswersPolitics8 years agoCar stars and then stalls?
Hi. I have a 98 Honda Accord that i bought, oh, maybe a month and a half ago. It doesn't happen all the time (seems to be pretty random, cant figure out why sometimes and not others) but sometimes when i start the car the engine will turn over but then the RPMs will go way down. Sometimes it just barely catches and the engine stays on, but other times it doesn't and the engine stalls. When this happens, if i start the engine again and lean my foot on the gas pedal a little bit while i turn the key it starts up fine with no issues. Right now it doesn't seem to be a big problem but I'm a little concerned only because i don't want to keep doing this only to discover at the most inconvenient time that it is a small symptom of a huge problem. Any ideas what could be causing this?
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs8 years ago2002 Ford Taurus rattling problem?
I have a 2002 Ford Taurus SES. I typically put the car in overdrive because my dad told me it was more fuel efficient. For a little while though i was using regular drive, and when i would drive on the highway, once i reached about 70 mph i would hear this rattling noise coming from somewhere on the right side of the engine block (from the drivers point of view). Figuring this couldn't be a good sign I would put it in overdrive and the rattling would go away. However lately i have been hearing the same rattling sound when in overdrive (particarly when accelerating) except this time coming from the LEFT side of the engine block. I have no idea what this could be, my first guess would be something is loose but i have been unable to identify the source. Has anyone else had this problem or know what might be causing it?
1 AnswerFord9 years agoWhat federal/state expenses do you believe are worth paying higher taxes for?
Everyone with common sense knows that if the people are required to pay taxes, we have a right and a responsibility to hold the government accountable for what our tax dollars are being spent on.
What do you feel is worth paying higher taxes for? And, while I'm asking, what things do you consider to be a waste of tax money?
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy not just keep taxes precisely proportional to income?
Why are we arguing about "tax cuts for the wealthy" and all this bull? Why not just keep it proportional so that there isn't an issue? If taxes get hiked, they should get hiked for everybody. If taxes get cut, they should get cut for everybody. Why is this such a difficult issue for people?
10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat's the deal with this government shutdown on Friday?
I've been a little behind on current events this week, and I suddenly heard about this interesting development...would anyone care to enlighten me as to what this is all about?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat is the logic behind eliminating collective bargaining rights?
I know it sounds like it, but I have extreme difficulty believing that the move to weaken unions is simply a matter of "corporate greed." I am sure that there is reasoning behind it that makes some degree of economic sense that I'm not aware of. Anyone care to enlighten me?
Please at least attempt to make a reasonable argument. If you can't even do that then I won't be able to take you seriously.

6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs anybody else getting tired of hearing people comparing [insert party name here] to Nazis?
Or, similarly, comparing [insert poltician's name here] to Hitler? There are some Republicans who would compare President Obama to Adolf Hitler - and at the same time, there are some Democrats who like to think George W. Bush was like Hitler Junior.
Let's be realistic here, how many of our Presidents have ordered the murder of six million Jews? How many have taken a legitimate shot at twisting our Democratic Republic into a dictatorship? Under whose Presidency did you have government agents kicking down your or your neighbors' doors and dragging them off to a concentration camp?
Could we PLEASE try to be a little more sensible here?
