  • What is a good bed time for 4 and 5 year old children?

If I have to get them up at 6:30 in the morning, when should I be putting them down at night?

  • Kayak Style... Sit-in or sit-on?

I have only used a sit-on (and I did enjoy it) but I was wondering if anyone has a preference of the sit-in and why?

My needs are for versatility... fresh / brackish water and saltwater, some areas of having to get out and carry kayak over fallen trees, calm to light choppy conditions. Does anyone have any recommendations? I figure it was time to buy my own instead of borrowing from friends anymore. :)

    Thanks

  • Song for Paintball Video?

I am making a montage of my best paintball footage and I need some suggestions for a song to go along with it. The first one I did was to Fergie's "London Bridges," and it turned out great but I was hoping to find something without any swear words so it can be more family appropriate. I also thought of "Hey Man, Nice Shot" by Filter but it seems way to predictable.

    Any ideas?

  • Can anyone help me dress my husband (sounds funny, I know)?

I married this absolutely gorgeous man... but he dresses like his father. It's always khaki shorts and a single-pocket t-shirt. It seems such a waste of his looks and physique. Can anyone recommend and clothing styles / lines for men that are comfortable but stylish for a 30+ man to wear?

  • Are we past the days when couples get married before having children?

Maybe it's just me, but I was raised in a good Christian home and was taught that marriage comes first, then a family. My husband and I have been married for just over seven years and TTC for 2 1/2. I just completed the first part of my IVF where they take the eggs out to fertilize. I come here to try to offer words of encouragement to others in the same boat... and all I find is unwed women trying to have babies!! If you love someone enough to have their children, why not marry them first? Is popping out babies just a fad now? I don't get it....

Maybe someone can shed some light on it for me.

  • Has anyone heard of Irena Sendler?

Irena was a Polish Catholic Social Worker who in the 1930's used her position to get into Jewish ghettos and rescue children. She was able to smuggle over 2500 children in toolboxes, suitcases, trunks, through sewers, etc. She placed these children in Christian homes and recorded their information on pieces of tissue paper and buried them in jars outside her home with hopes of one day finding them and returning them to their families. Unfortunately, nearly all of the parents had been killed and the children remained either in foster care or were placed with distant relatives. Irene was caught, questioned, tortured, had her feet and legs broken by German soldiers, but never gave up the location of the children or the bottled tissues.

In 2007, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her compassion and sacrifice only to be beaten by Al Gore, who produced an opinion piece to capitalize on the gullibility of others.

She died Monday, may 12th 2008.

  • Thinking about opening a Grooming Salon / doggie day care?

I have worked with animals for many years in wildlife rehabilitation / veterinary clinics / pet resorts, and I am a certified groomer. (Long story short) My sister-in-law may be moving here with her husband and we are both starting families. We have been kicking around the idea of starting a grooming shop that has group day care for little dogs, and a small retail area.

Can anyone offer advice or suggestions on things I should know or be aware of before getting started?
