  • yesterday comedy central presents?

Yesterday (June 18, 2010) I saw this Comedy Central Presents with this great comedian. However I forgot his name. It played somewhere between 7:00 and 10:00 ( I live in Salt Lake City so time zones change). However I remember him starting his stand-up with jokes about "sike" like in elementary school, then he did some stuff that ended with "like a vagina!!" and he then proceeded to do some "weird jokes" cuz he said the audience liked those haha. It was pretty funny n not only did I not finish watching it but I also wanted to look at some of his other stuff. He was caucasian. Short hair almost bald, beard. That's all I know. And it was right after Tosh.O

  • Scales for Guitar ( Rock, Metal..)?

OK so Rock came out of the Blues and Metal came out of Rock. If you want to play rock or hard rock ( Led Zeppelin, GNR,) you learn the Blues scale and the Pentatonic scale. I've heard that for playing metal a lot of guitarists learn classical ( Randy Rhoads for example ). I've never fully learned the Blues or Pentatonic but since I'm not in school during the summer that's what I'm going to do. I also want to be a better I'm learning harder songs like "Mr. Crowley" and other stuff. I want to get really good at soloing at metal so would I need to get a book on Classical Guitar or learn specific scales? What should I do to improve ?

  • Amp Problem ( Mains Hum )?

OK so I have this Line 6 Spider III. I have 2 electrics, an Epiphone Les Paul Special II and a Fender Strat. When I use my Epiphone I don't get any Hum but when I use my Strat I do. It sound exactly like the Mains Hum on Wikipedia, the 60 Hz Mains Hum. I have a TV and a computer in my room but like I said it doesn't happen when I use my Epiphone. Is it my amp or my guitar? If so what's wrong with them?

  • Ear Piercings and stuff..?

I got my ears pierced for my B-Day ( just the left lobe ) and the lady told me that I needed to put this After Piercing Lotion on it twice daily so Saturday night ( April 25 ) I went to do that. So I took the ear piercing out. I'm not sure that I was supposed to because it just says to rub the lotion on both sides of lobe and slide piercing post back and forth daily. Now I can't get it back in!! Was I supposed to take it out? What should I do ?

  • Cost of changing Strat Whammy with Floyd Rose?

I got a Strat and originally I wanted to buy an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and putting a Floyd Rose on that but I think it'd be easier to put one on a Strat plus that way I wouldn't have to buy another guitar. So how much do you think it would cost??

  • Humming Sound on my Strat?

I'm deciding whether I should get some humbuckers for my strat to get a cool sound or if there is a way to get rid of the humming kind of sound that happens when you play with the neck, middle or bridge pick-ups. Does anyone know how to get rid of that sound? or do I have to go get some humbuckers?

  • Writing Hard Rock/Metal?

I love hard rock and heavy metal so lately I've been trying to write guitar riffs, and lyrics for my band. I'm completely stuck on guitar riffs so I need lots of help on that. I've kinda been working on lyrics although I have nothing written down but I have some ideas, but could you guys give me some topics that might be good for hard rock or heavy metal. Heck give me some stuff that maybe you've thought of even if you're not a musician and I'll write the song.

  • Guitar problems ( My Les Paul and Strat) ?

Well I've been playing guitar for about 2 yrs. or so and I have a Fender Strat, an Epiphone Special II, and acoustic. I wasn't really playing my Les Paul until the begining of Christmas Break because we all took our instruments home from Jazz Band. Since that guitar was at school I wasn't playing it a whole lot like I do at home with my Strat. But I started to play it and realized that the Les Paul sounds better with my amp and it has 22 frets instead of 21. The only thing that is wrong with it is it doesn't have a whammy bar and its kinda hard to tune and stuff. But I love the humbucker sound. Should I just get my strat with humbuckers or Seymour Duncan P-Rails or try to find a guitar that plays and sounds like a Les Paul with a whammy bar?

PS If you guys know a guitar that sounds like a Les Paul but has a whammy bar or more frets please mention them.

  • How do you know what key a song you wrote is in?

OK I'm starting to write songs because I'm starting a band. We play mostly thrash, heavy metal and hard rock. But I've heard that for writing guitar solos it's a good idea to use a specific scale. How do I know what scale to use if I don't know the key? Better yet how do I know the key? Because I don't worry about the key when writing a song.

  • My Friend and Nazis...?

I have a friend who plays guitar for my band, we're best friends and hang out all the time. We both have long hair and so since people call us gay all the time because of our hair we freak all the homophobes out by pretending to be gay. It's pretty funny to watch them react to like him giving me a hug or something. However he always writes stuff on his hands and arms which I have no problem with but the other day he drew the Nazi sign on his arm and when I asked why he had it because he's not a Nazi he says that his great-grandfather was from Germany and was a Nazi ( I think ). He said he's not a Nazi but he says that he wears it with pride because his great-grandfather was a Nazi and he likes to freak people out like we do when we act gay. I don't think he should be showing it around trying to scare people or drawing it if he's not a Nazi and even if he was I still wouldn't think he should do that. How do I tell him without him getting mad at me ? Because he's my best friend.

PS By the way I'm not a homophobe and I have friends who are gay and lesbian and bisexual.
