I m 22 and have moved back to my parents for 3 months inbetween jobs. I ve noticed it more since I ve been to university (I guess I changed a lot from being there and was with a lot of new people), but my parents are so different to me that they cannot relate to me. My Dad is fairly racist and homophobic (although is getting more liberal but I think that s so he doesn t get bombarded) and always takes the mick out of those different to him. My parents are both of the mindset that if the don t like something, they cannot undertand why other people can like it. I could give examples but I d be here for days. I am the opposite; openminded, consciously strive for equality (going to volutneer in India for 3 months starting in September) and a pretty non-judgemental person.

Every time something I don t agree with is said, I usually state my opinion back which usually is met with "oh you jut can t have a laugh, can you?". No, I don t find taking the piss out of people hilarious!

I know I ve had different experiences to my parents which has made me the person I am, but I really struggle not to get offended or upset by some of their opinion and therefore find living with them - albeit t temporary - very difficult.

Has anybody else experienced a similar relationship with their friends or family?

The essay is simply about knife crime.

Youth Crime Policy is an issue in contemporary society, affecting potential victims and perpetrators. In particular, knife crime represents a serious threat to young people’s well being, while community cohesion and safety are in danger. Over the last decade, knife crime has been amplified constantly in the media which resulted in negative labelling of the stereotypical perpetrator: young ethnic-minority males. A number of new policies have been introduced to attempt to decrease, control and educate today’s youth with regards to using knives as weapons. This essay will explore policy responses to knife crime. It will begin by discussing the issue of knife crime and its representation in the media before moving on to examine other institutions such as government and pressure group responses.

Over recent years, knife crime has become a major problem in the UK with around 250 fatalities a year. As a result, various initiatives have been brought into place to reduce these figures but instead each year figures on people carrying knives rises.

“According to one Home Office analysis of the Homicide Index (a record of all suspected homicides occurring in England and Wales), 37.9 per cent of victims were killed using a ‘sharp instrument’ between 1995 and 2000 – by far the single largest category of method of homicide.”

i'm doing a short adaptation of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner based on the wedding guests.

In brief, it is about a wedding but before the ceremony the groom confesses to the Ancient Mariner he has cheated on his fiancee. He marries, but to gain salvation he has to go to a confession box every day ( or can anyone think of anything better?) with a picture of the Albatross.

apparently, if you are now born 1993 or after, you have to be 18 before you can pass your test. you can have all your lessons at the age of 17 but then legally drive on the road at 18. is this law getting the go-ahead or already has? thankyou for your answers

i don't really know what i want to do when i leave school, so have taken the following A levels:

english, sociology, law, history.

these are very similar literacy based, but i am interested in the marketing and advertising world. does anybody know of any famous jobs there are in this industry and if any well known people do them, so i can get a general idea of what they are about and what they involve. also, does anybody work in this industry, please tell me what its like..... advice would be much appreciated.
