I am going to buy this 2 year old horse. Unfortunately she isn't in the best of health. However she is calm and good naturee and isn't so far gone that its a lost cause.

With the help of my friend who can administer shots and help break the animal, I plan on getting the horse up to a healthy weight and training it.

i guess my main question are:

A: can the horse still grow with proper nutrition

B: Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing, and advice?

C: She is a Fox Trotter, Quarter Cross, good mix?

D:How will i be able to tell that she is strong enough for proper training.

Also I try to only involve vets when absolutely necessary, but will if needed. They are really expensive. And I hope to do this with as little vet bills as possible.

Personally I have always used a Western saddle

I know they are alot heavier but more practical and easier to stay in than a English.

I found and old English saddle and I was surprised at how light it was but dissapointed at it only having one measly strap to hold it on. Not a very secure thing.

Also, dont you have to have special training to use them.

So I guess I just want a general run down of the pros and cons of each.

English saddles seems so...preppy. While Westerns are all bulky.

I am rather new to horses. The few experiences that I have had ended badly. Until recently when I have had riding lessons. I have been raised around horses although they were not broke to ride. I have a vast knowledge of them as well.

I have the option now of getting one of my own. It will more than likely be an arabian.

My choices are. A mare that is young but well natured about the age to break.

Or I can breed one and raise it from birth ect.

Or I can wait and go to the sale barn and find an old mare or gelding to start with.

What do you think? I want a horse I can ride comfortably but I dont want a horse that will keel over in a year.

I am currently at 21:00 on my 2 mile run, I need to be down to 15:00 before July preferabley before April,

what exercises would help? or a routine?

Also I need to increase my push-ups and sit-ups dramatically, same as the run.
