  • What other fish live peacefully with your male betta?

I rescued a stray male betta. I will spare you the details, but he was in terrible condition when I got him. Superbowl Sunday, he moved into a new 10 gallon filtered heated palace. He has grown some already, swims all over his aquarium, and his fins are slowly growing back. =)

I have been thinking about getting him a friend or two. I've looked around on the internet, and was considering a couple of apple snails and a pleco fish to join him. He is aggressive toward his reflection, so I am nervous about adding anyone else.

I would like to hear back from people who have a peaceful aquarium situation with their male bettas with a list of fish who just all get along. =)

This is my first experience with a fish so any advice would be great. He's got plenty of places to hide: big seashells, fake plants, live bamboo, a cave, ect. I don't use a hood. Instead, I have an arm table lamp over the surface and he gets plenty of natural daylight as well. He seems happy. Sleeps all hugged up against the heater.

Thanks!! Oh and for you Office lovers... his name is BIG TUNA.

  • unlock word document?

I have microsoft office 2003 on my laptop, and just downloaded the converter so that I could open a word document that I created at school with the 2007 version. I cannot edit at all. I cannot "save as" and the "read only" is not checked. However, if it were checked, I have no access. It is not in bold print; not an option to click on it. I have highlighted the document, and when I right click, every option is not in bold. I cannot click on anything. Please help!! I am trying to work on a senior thesis paper for college and this is so frustrating. I don't have the funds to buy the new program or a new computer. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks!!

  • comfortable dress shoes?

I am an interior design intern (still two more years to graduation), and was wondering what your most comfortable dress shoes are. I've been wearing flats, and they're SO flat that the bottoms of my feet are bruised. The fabric on the cheaper shoes also irritated the bottoms of my feet. =(

I dressed up at a previous job, and any dress shoes were fine because I sat down all day, but at this job I am on my feet 90% of the day. And I wait tables at night, so I'm on my feet then too. I have great serving shoes, but I have to dress up at the internship.

These women (and men) are extremely well dressed. I absolutely cannot look out of date or not stylish. I did buy two pairs today, one was the brand Bare Traps, and the others are Nurture by Dillard's. I don't care how expensive, I just need stylish classy dressy shoes that aren't going to kill my feet. I tried on Naturalizers and they hurt. It's like I'm running a marathon, I need them to be as comfortable as the tennis shoes I'm not allowed to wear.

Is this possible?? The two pairs I got are pretty amazing. The Bare Traps are brown sandals with thick cushy soles. The Nurture are black 2 1/2" pumps. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Save my feet AND my wardrobe!!!

  • sonic dvd, my dvd won't play?

I have an HP, had it for two years. I have burned multiple CDs, and never had a problem. I am trying to play a DVD (bought from the store, not a burned one) for the first time, and it won't work. I click, "watch movie", and it directs me to a web page to purchase the software that I already have. This is extremely irritating, since I paid for the software when I had this laptop built. Help! I just want to watch a movie on it. thanks!!

  • Yoda the Persian cat?

asking again, it's been 30 minutes, and only one answer... it's late perhaps I will ask again tommorrow.

My silver shaded Persian, Yoda, lives the good life. He is an inside/outside cat with his own door (no keeping this one in, he would die from depression), so needless to say, his coat needs daily attention. I do brush him every day, sometimes every other day. The winter is a challenge because he is a purebred and is so prone to getting matted. My question is, what is the best brush for Persian cats? He's been my kittie for over 4 years, and brushing (in the winter) always makes him mad. I am very gentle, but I worry that the brush is hurting him. =(

Online, I have read to get a metal non-static comb and then a stainless steel silkening brush. The one I currently have has angled bristles, and I think it may be pulling. In your experience, what brush does the job well keeping your kittie matt free, and he/she doesn't mind it too much. I'm going shopping tomorrow. Any advice (except keeping him indoors all of the time which would be a very sad life for him) about keeping his coat tangle and matt free in the winter would be greatly appreciated. I love my cat, he's asleep on the pillow next to me. Help me find the Maserati of brushes!! Thanks so much!!

  • limewire won't open?

I have been using limewire for years. The other day it would not open. I found all of my music and saved it in folders, removed limewire through My Computer, and reinstalled it. The new version won't open either. ???? Help!! I do have antivirus protection, and if I remember correctly, I have a new program since the last time I used limewire. Could this be it? If so, how do I get it to open? I double click on the icon, or find it with the windows button and click, and nothing ever comes up. It will not open. My antivirus is PC doctor.

    Thanks!!

  • legal advice please, I really need some help?

I would love some legal advice. I'm just not sure what the best thing to do is. I have been rear-ended by an uninsured driver. I have logged what happened.

    Sunday October 12, 2008

I was hit in my VW Jetta going north on I85 by Jennifer Garner, 23 years old, in a black Nissan sentra. The police report states it is her fault and she received citations for improper lane change and following too closely.

    Wednesday October 15, 2008

I picked up the police report from Gwinnett County around noon. I called Progressive (her listed insurer) and filed a claim early that afternoon. An agent called me about 30 minutes after the claim was filed and informed me that she was not insured at the time of the accident. I called Jennifer at the number listed on the police report around 5:00pm. I told her that Progressive said that there was a lapse in her insurance. She said, yes there was, but that she paid it the day of the accident. I asked if she paid it BEFORE the accident, and she said yes. I told her that they would not come out to do an estimate on my car until she proved that she did have insurance at the time of the accident. She got my number and said that she would call Progressive to straiten things out, and that she would call me right back. I went to work, and when I got off at 9:30pm, she still had not called back. I called her and got the answering machine. I did not leave a message. Five minutes later her dad, Tom Garner, called and told me that Jennifer did not have insurance and he would have to pay for the damages himself. I told him that would be fine. All I want is for my car to be fixed. I told him I suspected the damage to be around $2,000, and if it took longer than a day to fix, I would need a rental car during the time that my car was in the shop. He recommended a mechanic, someone he knew. I told him that I would be going out of town the following day, and would get an estimate the following Monday. I told him I would call him Monday after I got the estimate.

    Thursday October 16, 2008

I called my insurance, Georgia Mutual, for advice on letting an uninsured motorist pay for damages and a rental car out of pocket. They advised me to give her an opportunity to pay for everything, and if there was any problem, I could still file a claim under my own insurance under collision, but there would be a $500 deductible. I do not have uninsured motorist on my own insurance. She said that if I do file under my own, that the insurance company would go after Jennifer for the amount of money paid to repair all damages, the amount of the deductible, the amount of the rental car, PLUS the dollar amount of the value lost on my vehicle due to the accident. The $500 deductible and value lost to my vehicle would be a check sent to me. I do want to give them the opportunity to pay for everything out of pocket without taking any legal actions. I called around 7pm and left a message for Tom Garner stating that I had an appointment to get an estimate on my car at Volkswagen on Monday, and that I had also spoken with my insurance, and that I would like to do what is in the best interest of both parties, and asked him to please call me back.

    Monday October 20, 2008

I took my car to Dwight Harrison Volkswagen in Snellville, GA at 2pm for an estimate on the damages from the accident. They gave me a detailed estimate that totaled $1,004.17. Much less than I had anticipated. I called and left a message for Tom Garner around 3pm. I said that I had gotten an estimate from VW, and asked that he please return my phone call.

    Wednesday October 22, 2008

In an effort to save Tom Garner some money, I took my car to Snellville Auto Collision for a second estimate. The total of that estimate is $840.35. I feel good about Snellville Collision, and would feel okay taking my car there to be fixed. When I had assumed that Jennifer’s insurance was going to pay for everything, I had planned to take my car to VW, and be done with it. Both locations said that the job would take three days. I came home and called three different car rental businesses to find Tom the best deal. I called Triangle, Hertz, and Enterprise. Enterprise has the best price at $175.55 for a three day rental with coverage. I called Tom at 4:15pm and left a message on the machine stating that I had gotten a second estimate that was almost $200 less than the first one, and would be happy to take my car there, and that I had gotten rates on a rental car. I asked him to PLEASE return my call so that we could get something worked out. I would like to get things done as soon as possible.

I would like to take my car in on Monday morning (October 27) and get it back Wednesday evening (October 29). If the job takes three days, this will eliminate Tom having to pay for my rental car over the weekend.

    Thursday, October 23, 2008

I feel I have gone extremely out of my way in order to save Jennifer/Tom Garner as

  • doing the right thing?

I only got 4 responses, so posting again.

I drive a 2003 VW Jetta. Sunday, a 23 year old girl rear-ended me in a traffic jam on the interstate. I was completely stopped in traffic, she was turned around looking in the lane to the left, and hit the accelerator to change lanes. Her front passenger side smacked into my rear driver side. It did quite a bit of damage. The whole back end (bumper) needs to be replaced, and my trunk isn't closing properly. Perhaps the trunk will be fine once the new bumper is put on.

She was very upset and apologetic at the scene. I was very nice to her, reminded her that it was an accident, and told her everything would be okay.

Well, the police report was ready today, so I was able to get the ball rolling to get my car fixed. I called Progressive (her insurer) and after filing the claim, they informed me that she has lapsed in her insurance, and is in fact not covered.

I contacted her, and her father called me back. He said that he would pay for everything, and recommended a mechanic (someone he knows). If I report to the police that she is uninsured, she is going to be in a LOT of trouble with the state of Georgia. She could lose her license. I don't want to do that to her. However, I do want to do the right thing for me. I told her dad that I would be happy to get a few different estimates including one from a VW dealer (where I had planned on going when I thought her insurance would pay for everything) and the guy he recommended. He will have to agree to pay for a rental car while it is being fixed. I drive to school and work every day.

Assuming that her insurance was going to pay for everything, I planned on taking my car to a VW dealer to be repaired. The value of my car has already been compromised because now it has been in an accident. Will it be compromised more if I don't get it fixed at a dealer???

I don't have uninsured motorist protection on my own insurance. I can file it under collision, and make them pay for the $500 deductable. My agent said that since it was not my fault, my premium would NOT go up. But then woulnd't she definately be reported? Would my insurance company go after them??

What if I don't claim it under insurance, and it's not fixed properly? What if the trunk starts to leak?

I would love some advice!! I'm trying to do the right thing. We're all human, and she made a mistake. I've been late on my insurance before for financial reasons, and thankfully did not get in an accident.

What would you do?? Does anyone know around how much it will cost if it is only the bumper??

    Thanks!!

  • has anyone been an egg donor?

I am thinking about becoming an egg donor. I am 29, and perfectly healthy. Has anyone gone through this process? I have researched the procedure, and it looks like there is a lot involved. Like giving yourself injections. How did it effect you emotionally? Did you feel happy for helping a couple? Sad that there would be a child with your DNA that you would never know? Were you in physical pain? How much did you get paid?? Thanks !!

  • windows not responding?

okay, I am constantly having to close windows through the task manager and restart due to "not responding". This happens all of the time. Then it asks if I want to send an error report, or debug. I have done all three many times, and nothing helps. This has been going on for at least 6 months. it is SUPER annoying. And when it gets to the point where I have the task manager open, and things read 'not responding' I click end task, and it takes forEVER. Why is this happening? I do have good antivirus software (avast, and spyware doctor) and run it often. Maybe it's been happening for like a year. In any case, I would very much like it to stop. Also, my computer sounds like it is running something constantly.

I have my system configuration set to only run necessary programs, like the google toolbar and my laptop mouse pad. At the bottom right where the time is, the only things running are my antivirus programs (not the problem, because I have changed software since the problem started), pointing device (mouse), volume, and the wireless connection.

Help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!

I have windows XP, not vista.

  • rabbit??????

So, who out there has a pet rabbit? I've always had cats and dogs. I have a hard time with cages. I think it is cruel. My animals come in and go out as they please. Obvioulsy, the rabbit couldn't go outside unattended. I was wondering if you can totally keep them out of a cage? Will they use a litter box? I just couldn't cage an animal, but I don't want a freaked out rabbit or rabbit pellets and pee all over the house.

Also, do they need another rabbit companion? I'm all about what is best for the animal, which may not be a life in my house. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is going to sound rediculous, but I'm kind of scared that my cat would kill it. I have a persian, who makes at least one kill (including rabbits) daily. A domestic rabbit looks different. He loves the dog. What do you all think? Thanks!!!
