My daughter, in the 4th grade, is doing a science fair project on homemade lip gloss. (She's a girly girl!) I am unsure if I'll be able to find vitamin e oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil at our local stores. Would using olive oil or vegetable oil cause a bad mixture, taste or smell?

I was looking into buying some used books and don't have a used bookstore around me (that I know of anyway). I've heard about borders marketplace and their prices are VERY low. If anyone out there is familiar with it could they please let me know if 1) they are legit? 2) are the books generally in good condition? and 3) if it a safe site to trust my account number with? I've already had to deal with some fraudulent charges to my account recently and would rather not have to go through that again! Thanks in advance for any info you might have to share.

My husband and I are approaching our 10th anniversary. Not of our wedding but of the day we met. It was love at first sight. I found out he's getting me a spa day and he got a free night's stay at a hotel (through work). I would really like to do something great for him. He's always been hard to buy for. He's the kind of guy you get a gift card or give money to. I did have an idea though and would like some input/ideas. I was thinking it would be nice to get a beautiful wooden box and fill it with the mementos of our relationship; a wedding invitation, little gifts from when we were dating, cards we've given each other, stuff like that. I was also thinking, since he wears a suit everyday for work, that I could get him a nice tie clip or bar. And I will probably be getting some special "sleepwear" for our night at the hotel together.

I am just unsure. I sometimes feel weird about buying big things for him since he works and I am a SAHM. Of course I know it's our money but I still feel odd buying him extravagant things.

So if anyone out there has ideas, comments, etc. I'd love to hear them.

my daughter is having a party in class. we are being asked to bring in non tree nuts (there is a child allergic to tree nuts). i've looked around and i keep finding lists of snack foods without nuts. if anyone can help me figure out what she can take in, besides peanuts, it would be appreciated.

today my neighbor informed her children had lice. not a big deal, it happens. my husband and i were talking about it as i was going through my kids hair (all clear!) and we were wondering how often the average american child gets lice. i remember getting it about once a year. my husband has only had it once, and his sister only twice. he says that is the norm but i disagree. so i am doing an informal poll. thanks for all your answers!

my hubby brought me home a chocolate bar the other night. a lindt 90% dark chocolate bar. i tried a bit and the flavor was so intense i couldn't handle it. i'm thinking that i could use it to bake with. does anyone out there have a good, simple recipe that uses dark chocolate?

my daughter was given a bag of toy by our neighbors. included is very interesting doll of a woman. it is marked american greetings corp 1982. the doll is of an older woman with purple boots, tights and hair. she has a purple dress with grapes and grape earrings. she has a bit of a hook nose and a more "villanous" face. i've done a google image search on several of the company's toy lines and haven't found this particular doll. if anyone can give me any leads i'd appreciate it.

my daughter is 2. she started developing symptoms of thrush yesterday. i've made her appt with the doctor (thursday, couldn't do it any sooner). i know she will probably be put on medicine to get rid of it. i was just wondering if anyone out there had any ideas for easing the discomfort and making sure none of my other kids get it.

i have 3 kids and have never had to deal with thrush before so i don't know too much about it. i know to clean the things that go in her mouth with bleach water. should i be doing this to the cups she uses? she doesn't use sippy cups, just regular plastic cups with no special lids or anything. she also sucks her thumb if that's of any importance. any advice is appreciated. thanks!

my cable signal is usually clear. all day today it has been breaking up. this has happened before with solar storms/flares but the cable provider gave us forewarning. does anyone know if there are stronger than normal solar flares today? i tried calling them but was on hold for a long time. i also tried to check nasa's website but it was not loading very well.

since yesterday my cordless phone will not keep a charge for more than 5 minutes. my husband says it's because i would often forget to put the phone on the charger at night and running the battery down too low. he would usually try and keep the phone on the base all the time when not in use. i did some searching and saw some articles about how keeping the phone on the base will slowly kill the battery (nickel batteries to be more specific). now i'm wondering. which did more damage, not charging the phone enough or charging it too much?

i never got into the whole text and emoticon trend. i have a niece who writes me and uses them all the time. i just have no idea what some of them mean. some are rather obvious, (happy, sad, tongue sticking out) but some just confuse me. best answer to the person with the most emoticons.

She's always been a bit prone to nightmares but it has been every night for 2-3 weeks. They are usually centered around zombies. No big changes going on. No scary movies, tv, video games or books. Haven't heard back from her teach yet about problems at school but she doesn't mention anything when we talk. She's waking up several times a night and even has trouble going to sleep because she's scared she'll have a nightmare. I just want to help her feel safe and get a good night's sleep!

i'm thinking of getting one but if it negatively interferes with intercourse......
