Basically.... I show longears. I have 3 mules and 1 donkey all together. We compete in WP, Driving, Trail, Halter, Showmanship, Hus *not as much anymore*, and try to attend as many open horse shows as gas prices allow. If you have questions about mules, I will be more than happy to answer, but if you want a mule, I will help you find one to your capability and no, it will not be a weanling!!

  • winch question mainly about power hookup?

I'm an amazon idiot and can't find where I can send a question to the seller about this.

Does anyone know how you would hook power to this? Would you use a marine battery? I have a 1200watt battery pack that has all the bells and whistles. I would be using this to haul horse driving carriages into a horse trailer, so the slowness they complain about is fine with me. I like the remote idea since I would be loading by myself. I'm more concerned with power hookup and if anyone has ideas on this one or another winch I would be greatly appreciative of any advice.

  • in hand trail class questions?

So I'm new to this inhand trail and honestly haven't ever seen it before so have no clue what they are judging on and what exactly I should have my 2yr old ready for before we go in. I have done many trail classes but just never in hand. Its an open show.

Do they want you to ask them to sidepass to the obstacles, over poles etc? Can you touch the animal to help them with cues? Do you do this in a show halter or can you just a regular halter? I have her doing obstacles in hand, but just not sure what a show setting wants to see and whats legal to do with this? She is a 2yr old 16h mule and no riding (until she is older). She has gobs of groundwork and just needs to be desensitized to showing, so trying to get her into as many classes as possible.

    Thanks

  • where to find out how to freight ship something?

I have a equine driving buggy that is in oregon that I would like to freight to Wyoming. I have googled long haul truckers, freight hauling etc, but haven't had any luck in finding out where I could hire or even see if they do it? What should I look under and how should I do it? The carriage weighs about 350lbs, and I know its going to cost me a fortune but I am having a hard time with weather and work trying to get there. Any ideas? I have tried the private hauling route and they either fall through or are crazy. So would really like to do a professional thats reliable. Thanks!

  • moving a mobile home in winter, is it possible?

I live in Wy, with nasty winters and the place that I would be moving too, keeps putting the electrical installation date further and further, to the point that now its the beginning of Nov. I really would like to move there as soon as its ready, but its it realistic to transport a mobile home in the winter without heating available?

What ideas and possibilities do you have to make this happen or should I just wait it out?

    Thanks alot!!

  • k2 snowboard question?

I have this snowboard that was my son's that I need to put online to sell. I don't snowboard, know nothing about it and have no clue what to ask on pricing.

Its a K2 and probably around 4 1/2ft. What do I measure on it for an online ad, what pricing would be adequate to ask, without being too high or too low.

What other things would a buyer want to know about it ahead of time that I should include in the ad. Thanks and really appreciate all advice.

  • hauling liability in a sale?

I have sold my sisters horse and a friend of mine stopped by to see me and the buyer asked her to deliver it to her. She accepted, no money was discussed or offered. I stayed out of the deal.

However, I want to make sure that if anything was to happen to the horse during hauling that my sister would still be given $ in accident of death of the horse, not that I hope that happens, but i live in worst case scenario situations lol.

Here is the sale bill that I offered, what do you think? Will she be protected?

    3. PURCHASE PRICE

3.3 Transfer of Possession. Seller shall give possession of the Horse to the Buyer through ----(friend)----- hauler, once the horse leaves her current boarding place in Casper WY. The buyer will pay the remainder purchase price of the horse on 7/26-27/2011. ----(friend)---will be transporting the Horse to the Buyer. The buyer has made all hauling arrangements and is responsible for anything and everything that deals with the delivery and hauling of the horse once it leaves Livestock Motel in Casper. Seller has no responsibility to deliver the horse. Buyer is responsible for all incurred hauling costs.

    4. SELLER'S REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES

As of the effective date and at the transfer of possession, the Seller makes the following representations:

4.1 To the best of the Seller's knowledge, the Horse is in good health and condition.

4.2 Seller has provided Buyer with copies of Horse's vaccination records and other veterinary records in possession of the Seller.

4.3 Seller makes no warranties whether expressed or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranty of the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The purchase of this horse is subject to the terms and conditions of an "as is" sale.

4.4 Seller is the sole owner of the Horse and has all authority to enter into this agreement.

4.5 There is no lien or encumbrance on the Horse.

4.6 Upon Seller's receipt of the Purchase Prices, in full, Seller shall provide Buyer with Horse's registration papers and all other documents necessary to transfer registration of the horse from seller to buyer.

    5. RISK OF LOSS

5.1 Upon the transfer of possession as set forth in paragraph 3.2 above, Buyer assumes all risk of loss of or injury to Horse

    6. ASSIGNMENT

6.1 No party may assign this Agreement without the prior written consent of the other party.

? any ideas or suggestions or agreeance? lol

    Thanks

  • Ford 2001 F250 7.3L 4x4 manual question (on the upper stick)?

I took my truck in for the first guesstimate. They think its the upper stick with the rubber worn off at the base and thats why its not shifting easily. I went to the dealer to buy the upper stick kit and all there was in there was the shifter.

(now keep in mind I'm not a vehicle repair person AT ALL and I was being nice) But I asked about rubber pieces for the base that wear off and makes your stick wobbly and sloppy going into gear.

She printed me a diagram of the parts and that really means greek to me. I'm absolutely stuck at the hospital all day today till 7am, so does anyone have any idea on what #'s on the parts I would need in the ford manual? Its on page p-34791 if someone may have it? If not then I will have to wait till tomorrow to be able to show it to the repair guy on my day off. I just wanted to get this escalated so it was safely back in commission and I don't feel like the stick is going to fly off.

    Thanks again!!

  • horse headset issue in training?

My sister's horse is with me for more training to help make her more marketable. I have trained my guys from weanlings up, so never dealt with fixing a mess someone else created.

This horse was trained prior by a 'professional' and then sat out to pasture for 4 yrs and resorted back to old ways. I get her and whats becoming obvious is that she had a cable noseband attached to a surcingle or saddle and made to lunge with her head in the peanut rolling position.

So the problem now is, I ground drive, in halters to start them to it. I never go to a bit till they are solid in a halter. She is so overly sensitive to lines in ground driving that she just freaks. I have finally been able to get some forward movement at a controlled speed with her, but any slight pressure on her halter and she is head shaking violently, pretty much getting light in the front end too.

My sister did say that she did see her with her head tied at one point (I never knew about this until I started questioning her if that was done to her).

So as I do ground drive her, she is peanut rolling and obviously more worried about pressure on her nose. Its easier to train them to get their head in frame (not peanut rolling) than it is to train it out of them to stop peanut rolling.

I HAVE to get her trained grounddriving, everything I do revolves around it and theres no way she will accomplish further in her training without it. I'm just really puzzled about what to do when I have never encountered this before.

My sister learned a hard lesson, check on your horse everyday and get references.

    Thanks in advance for help!

  • lump on dogs back stifle?

My 8 yr old lab has a lump on the back leg stifle area. It is mushy and not attached to the bone, I can move it all around and it isn't painful. I am going to take her to the vet and make an appt for her when they open on monday, but this isn't an emergency thing to take her in over the weekend.

We had a lab/beagle cross that passed away from a cancer on her leg and I can't remember the symptoms or name of it, its been a long time. Would anyone know the name of that cancer? So I can look it up too.

Again, she will be going to the vet next week when they are open, Its just not an on call thing and I just found it.

    Thanks!

  • kayaking questions, safety, water speed etc?

I have a 12 ft old town angler kayak that I bought last fall and finally got to take it out on the river. I'm new to kayaking, have done it on vacations in lagoons, but this is the first time on fast water.

What is a safe speed on cfs on water to paddle in for a beginner? Also, it was 4200cfs when I put in and I couldn't paddle upstream with it. I just sat still no matter how aggressive I was. The minute I stopped paddling I of course went zipping away lol. On less cfs, will I be able to paddle upstream? I realize I was in way over my head with that cfs, so thats why I'm asking what cfs would be more safer to go in.

My plan was the paddle upstream and troll down by just floating while fishing.

What suggestions do you have, there is no one here that gives lessons, I have begged friends of friends to just take me out and show me the ropes and no one responds back. So I'm just trying to learn on my own. I have rafted alot so its not new that way, but kayaking in itself is new.

    Thanks!

  • older dog/younger dog question?

I have an 8yr old lab with imtermittent back issues and known arthritis in her back. It doesn't stop her from tearing the barn chasing rabbits, but the next day shes feeling it. I have her on glucosamine/msm/chondrotine daily otc and then if shes really hurting the next day, I have duramaxx and tramodyl.

I have a 18mth old dog who LOVES to play with her and my poor old dog goes running after rabbits with the younger one just barging into her. If she was a younger dog I wouldn't worry about this so much.

I call her off, the younger one stops until the older one runs and it starts up again.

I am not a big fan of shock collars, but have used one to stop my puppy from running after ppl when we get home or out at the barn and ppl stop by to see their animals. (they travel with me all over the place) She only wore that for a week and stopped that behaviour. It was to the point that if someone was walking across the street that I didn't see, she would charge out in the street after she was out of my car and take off to that person. It was dangerous behaviour for her and that was why I resorted to the collar. These dogs go with me on my callouts because I feel safer having the dogs in my car at 2am when walking out of the hospital. They are on leashes everywhere else, but from the car to the house they are loose.

I have considered putting that on her for this purpose only, but not sure. I would like to try other avenues if you all have ideas before resorting to this, but the reality is, my old dog needs the younger one to stop it. Getting rid of the younger one is not an option, I am completely bonded to her and she goes kayaking with me and fishing. I love both dogs immensly.

What other options would you suggest, confining them at the barn isn't an option, they both need their exercise and the younger one has no interest in rabbits, she just wants to play and run. The older one just hunts and hunts and hunts.

I'm not an abuser of the shock collar, I want to protect my animals and love them greatly, so thats why on this issue, I'm asking for suggestions. Thanks so much!

  • purchasing camera question?

I'm headed on a trip and looking for a decent compact digital camera, that is simple and easy to work. Not on the high end, not on the low end. I just want something that I can take pictures with, download with ease and also something that either takes a memory card or has enough internal memory to store at least 200 pics.

I haven't purchased a camera for a long time and have just used my cell phone for pics.

I would either have to purchase it from best buy or walmart due to my trip being in 3 days. Nothing like waiting till the last minute right :)

Any suggestions or help or ideas would be great, because I am really not that knowledgable in this area.

My main needs would be easibility with downloading and also being able to hold a fair amount of pics through a week long trip!

Thanks in advance and really appreciate it!

  • prednison shot on a dog with osteoarthritis in the lower back and now paralyzed tail?

On my last question, I explained how my dog reinjured her back. I picked her up from the vet, he gave me duramaxx and tramadol to give her. When I got her home, the upper part of her tail was moving at the base, but 1/2 her tail to the end was flopping. I pinched the tip- no reaction. She absolutely can't feel anything.

I called the vet back and asked if he would give her a prednisone shot because them we would know if it was inflammation causing it verses some other disorder and the tech didn't think he would be ok with that.

I did have him give her a pain shot before I picked her up and her shaking stopped and she is wobbly in the rear, but she is walking and pooping and peeing.

I just want to reinterate, this dog did see the vet today but he is at a loss on what to do because he couldn't make any pain symptoms. He did a rectal and did feel some swelling around the spinal processes.

How much do you press to get a steroid shot, would you call another vet?

  • 8 yr old lab with osteoarthritis of her lower back.?

My lab started having pain about a year ago and the vet diagnosed her with oa of her back, it looks like there was an injury at some time. He put her on duramax for a month and then we stopped and she hasn't had any issues since.

Yesterday, I went out driving my mule and I take the dogs with me in the back pasture, they both chased a jackrabbit into a hole and then dug trying to get it. Today, my dog is hurting and the vet opens in 30 min and I'm taking her to get her more duramax, I think she probably wrenched her back again.

Any ideas on how to keep an older lab nonactive? I would have her ride in the driving cart with me, but she hates to ride and keeps jumping out. She wants to chase rabbits at the barn, she wants to run in her circles hunting rabbits, but she really needs to stop that. What would you do to give her a good quality of life but help her stay inactive? She goes everywhere with me, on trips, to mule shows, camping, so leaving her at home would absolutely devastate her.

I'm sure she will be fine with the duramaxx and maybe the vet will decide to just keep her on fulltime, but any ideas anyone would have would be great. I just want her to be able to still have a good life while trying to retire!!

    Thanks!

  • Would a complete solar tiny house work in Wy where it is -30 below in the winter and wind energy question?

I'm planning to renuvate a large barn I have to a tiny house on one side. I will be moving it to land, positioning the 'house' part to sit to the south and plan on using windows and concrete to help with passive solar heat. I also will be using the panels and batteries for direct.

With our winters, we get down to over -30below and -50 windchills. The house would have 470sq. ft when finished.

I have questioned whether or not to incorporate wind energy with this too? This house would be completely off the grid. It would have a cistern and a septic.

I'm just thinking everything through ahead of time. Thanks!!
