I love cats, reading, doing puzzles, crafts, sewing and cats (did I mention cats?). I have a personal library and over 500 paperback books. I just got two new cats because for the first time since 1969 I didn't have a cat and was going bonkers. Loki, who was named after the Norse God of Mischief (self explanatory), and Mooiepoots, which is Dutch for prettypaws.

  • In genealogy exactly are these relationships?

What exactly is a second cousin, third cousin, etc., in relationship to me? What does "once removed" mean? What is the relationship of my niece's children to me? What would my cousin's children be called in relationship to me. Am working on my family's genealogy and would like the correct titles to various relationships. Thank you.

  • This has me stumped!?

I've had cats all of my long, long life, loved them and they lived well into their teens, and thought I was fairly knowledgeable. My new fur-kid Mooiepoots was a feral cat when she was rescued having her kittens. I adopted this bonded pair.

Now I know that Mooie was feral and some of her habits would have to be broken (such as ferocious attacking when playing). The thing that bother me is that after 6 months she still hasn't marked me. She never rubs up against me at all. Now she marks the walls, boxes, beds, etc., but never me. She will come and she loves to be cuddled and petted. She will drop everything to play with her string or "mouse under covers."

I realize that I may be making a mountain out of molehill, but this has never happened to me before. Her daughter (Loki) is always rubbing or marking me, but not Mooie. Should I be worried?

    Thank for your help.

  • When if doubt, wash.?

Has anyone ever read a book by Paul Gallico called Jennie in the United Kingdom or The Abandoned in the United States? It is a story of a boy who becomes a cat and has to learn how to behave. That one line, "when in doubt, wash" has stuck in my mind for years. Has anyone ever noticed this or am I reading something into my pets that is not really there?

  • Where do you list the place of Death on the Family Trees?

We have had quite a few members of our family that have died while traveling or on vacation. Where do we list their place of death on the Family Trees. They were then cremated and their ashes scattered. There is no physical place to visit.

    1. The actual city the death occurred?

    2. The city where the obituary was published?

    3. The city where the memorial was/the city where they were living?

    4. The city where there is a death certificate?
