Do you think something like hinduism or daoism is better for people to follow or take part in more than the abrahamic tradition?
I personally think that particpating in any religion is fine as long as you can keep it to yourself. I'm not saying you have to, but if you see the person you are talking to is not interested you can change subject without getting testy. Something i'm sure a good portion of religious people can do. The question is, are the eastern religions better at doing this, or at simply adapting to modern times while still keeping adherents happy, than abrahamic traditions. Or what do you like more about Daoism, Hinduism, Buddhism, than our more closely linked abrahamic religions?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoI would love to worship the preislamic arabian gods.?
More or less because i think it would be interesting. Just something different, not the peachy versions of greek or egyptian gods i keep hearing about.
1 AnswerMythology & Folklore6 years agoIs dark souls the only good fromsoft game?
Recently i've been trying to play more than just dark souls.
And I think i hate most of the other fromsoft games. Demon souls and dark souls 2 are just both super tedious to me, i can't play either of them for more than an hour without wanting to claw my own eyes out. Everything about those games is so boring , there are never any interesting enemy designs and all the levels look and feel like utter ****. Like they never tested the damn things.
Yet i love dark souls, just the first one.
Bloodborne is also a game i find myself utterly bored in, part of me wonders if i am just tired of gaming in general.
Is there anyone else here who jsut likes dark souls but can't stand the other fromsoft games.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games6 years agoFeelings towards Islam?
I sometimes miss parts of being Muslim. Don't get me wrong the belief that god choose some illiterate prophet to tell made up stories about A jewish that go crucified but totally didn't , or Moses's made up butt is just silly to me. I still enjoyed it at the time, or the more spiritual traditions like the sufis have. The problem is there just aren't enough good reasons to be a muslim, or religious in general
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoPolytheist Muslims?
There are muslims around the world that take most of the rules of islam and chuck them out the window. A large amount of muslims drink, eat pork, have sex before marriage ect.
I've even met a woman from indonesia that was a muslim but still worshiped spirits , as well as a muslim man from china who still paid homage to the deities from china. I personally don't have a problem with this, i don't even think its a bad thing, but how do you feel about it?
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality6 years agoReligion has no real definition?
Religion as far as i can tell has no real definition. All religions throughout the world have different interpretations and meanings based on who you talk to.
People debate whether or not buddhism is a religion or taoism or various other ideas.
So what i am more curious about is what your personal definition of religion and your own spirituality is?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIs it worth debating religious people?
i'm sure plenty of religious people are just religious because of social expectations. In a lot of churches I have visited I have found you can spot the people who really believe and the ones who don't very quickly. The thing is, if someone tells me it's just faith, demonstrating to them why faith in something like religion / god/ zombie jew from nearly 2000 years ago, doesn't make a lick of sense, some of them just try to explain it away by saying i had some bad experience when i was younger. Don't get me wrong if they at least admit it's just faith, that is cool with me, i don't mind you having faith, ( provided you don't think that is a reason to kill other people.) What bothers me are all the christians, muslims, jews hindus ect who act as if they have proof for god then you find out it's just the same old ******* arguments you've heard 5000000 times before. Is there a point to debating religion as a topic ? i mean in an academic setting sure, but in a private setting it seems like people just want to think that whatever they believe is fine, even if it is demonstrably wrong.
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoFavorite bible protagonist?
Please don't say Jesus, I GET IT you think jesus is awesome, but come on he is so boring. If you are just going by the story, jesus literally gets nothing done. He talks in parables to confuse people, what is even remotely interesting about jesus?
Why not someone like jacob, who wrestles an angel until he gets a blessing. Something more interesting than being a false messiah at least.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoDoes religion ever make you angry?
When I think about Joesph Smith, i can't help but feel just a bit upset. Reading about his life, reading the book of mormon, all i can think is. " Who the **** would think this guy is a prophet of anything?" When a man brings forth a book that says black skin is a curse, forgive me if i think he's just a racist piece of ****. When a man says he can put magical stones in a hat and read tablets with his divine light, but no one else can see them because they would die... Forgive me if i think the people that bought this at the time were morons.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoHow do you feel about taoism?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoIs Islam sexist?
And no, i'm not talking about muslims here. I'm talking about the actual religion itself. Can it be said that we find sexism in the Quran and the Hadith?
If we can, what does that say about god? Does that mean god is fine with sexism?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhy does it seem like muslims are so sensitive about their homeland and religion?
Maybe it's just me, but I have found that men from Arab / Islamic countries seem to be very defensive. The slightest criticism of their nation of birth seems to make them so very... Indignant, that is the word i'll go with. I've met men at the local mosque who constantly talk about how the west is so very evil, and yet. Looking at any of their countries, you can't help but be shocked. Sure we are the moral downfall of the world for letting a woman dress like she wants, but in Pakistan a woman can be sentenced to be gang raped. If I had worn a shirt with an american flag on it, i shouldn't do this because it's "evil" yet I have seen them wear shirts with their own nations flag or whatever nation they think is oppressed this week and that is fine. It just seems silly to me.
6 AnswersRamadan6 years agoHow do you think history would change if Arabia remained pagan?
Of course if we look at Arabia when muhammad first appears on the scene , it's far more mixed then simply being pagan. Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, and pagans all lived together. My question is, assuming the Pagans and other factions beat the early advance of islam, assuming muhammad lost to his enemies, how would history change?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat is the worst boss in dark souls?
This can be hardest boss, worst designed boss, tedious boss whichever you d like.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games6 years agoWhat do you think is worse , christianity or islam?
It s pretty hard to deny the negative effects of both religions on people throughout history. It s nearly impossible to defend previous church leaders for things they have done, same with a lot of early muslim leaders, But which one is worse?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoMormons without the prophet?
one of my biggest complaints about the lds church is that you are expected to follow a living prophet, and that even if his sayings contradict the church ,scripture, or the sayings of previous prophets, it doesn't matter because he's the living prophet, does this seem a bit. odd to anyone else?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhen you hear a famous religious preacher saying they used to be an atheist do you believe them?
I honestly have a hard time believing any preacher that says they used to be an atheist, i don't want to say i think they are dishonest, it's just the way a good portion of them talk about atheists, kind of makes me doubt
