A hit a rock with my car and it dented a piece of the undercarriage can anyone tell me what part this is?
The car is a 1997 Grand Marquis GS 4.6 V8. The dent is in a black plate slightly more forward than my oil pan. The car makes a slapping noise any time it is started and the noise goes faster when throttle is depressed, in gear or not. Is this a trans pan or is it a part of the engine housing? Any help would be great.
