  • I have a question that I just can't seem to find the right answer to...........?

I've researched this topic yet what I've read doesn't quite fit this person's character.

What does it mean when someone doesn't appreciate praise?

It's not that they're smothered with it but just the slightest nicety has them either become sarcastic or silent. Of all the people I've known, this is a first for me. Then to make matters worse, whether it's for their birthday or Christmas, they're not a fan of receiving gifts. Yet they give them. This isn't good for someone like me as I love giving praise and/or gifts.

What I've read tells that these are signs of a person having low self esteem. I would never think of this particular person as being subject to that. So I'm asking others who may have known someone with this same problem.

    Thanks to all who answer!

  • Hopefully someone remembers the title of a 80's TV movie..............?

It was a true story that dealt with a family living on a U.S. Military base. All I recall is how the wife and children were murdered inside of their home. The husband was also hurt yet survived. After a police investigation, the husband was charged with the crime. I remember something about how the wife's father believed in his son-in-law's innocence and stood by him. I can only assume the husband was found guilty.

    I wish I had more details yet I don't.

  • Correct spelling please?

I have never been so confused over the spelling of a word. Checking on several sites, some state one spelling where others state another. Hopefully someone on this site can help.

    Is it INCOGNIZANT or UNCOGNIZANT?

I've always used the first spelling yet spellcheck on Word shows it as incorrect. Thanks so much to all who answer!

  • Would love to read your opinion?

I've asked this previously and since some responses were extremely interesting, I wanted to ask again. And should you choose to give me your opinion, I'd really like knowing your reasoning for it.

Do you believe in coincidence or fate?

Thanks so much to all who answer!

  • Need an honest answer about goldfish?

I have received so many answers about this subject that I just don't know which to believe.

I plan on purchasing six goldfish tomorrow as a birthday gift. If they're medium sized, just how long can they survive in the plastic bag? I've been told the time varies depending on their size and how large the bag is. They "should" survive anywhere between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

I'd just like them to be alright for about one hour. If this wasn't meant as gift for a special friend it wouldn't be such a big deal.

    Does anyone know for sure?

  • Just curious..................?

I have a reason for getting opinions on this so I hope I receive many answers.

Which do you believe in? Fate or coincidence?

If you have the time, I'd really like to know the reason for your choice. Thank you all so much!

  • Any ideas for a gift card?

Is there any possible way that you can give a gift card for groceries only? My friend does not want her daughter-in-law to be able to purchase any alcohol or tobacco with it.

I suggested a gas card instead but found out you can purchase those items inside the station with it.

I'm trying to help but ran out of ideas so I'm looking to you for advice.

    THANKS!

  • Anyone know the solution?

Just a simple question. Does anyone know an effective way to rid a garden of snails without harming them?

  • Hoping someone knows........?

This may sound strange but unfortunately, it's very real for our neighborhood.

It appears one of the residents is suffering from some form of depression. We assume that due to the way he's allowed his home and yard to deteriorate. Even with the visual aspect of his house not being good, that isn't the worst of it. It's the foul odor coming from it. Many have commented on how the smell represents death. Yes, it's that bad. And it's been this way for at least 6 months. If it weren't for some seeing him occasionally, we'd wonder.

Now for my question. If a human is constantly breathing in an odor that horrible on a 24/7 basis, can it affect his mental health? I guess we're wondering if that could be the reason for his strange behavior in recent months.

If it helps, he's probably in his mid 50's and is extremely obese. To make matters even worse, he's recently achieved a horrible temperament. Should someone in authority try and approach his residence, they're greeted by threats through the front door. This is why we're wondering if the odor could possibly play any part in that.

Thanks to all who can help!

  • Painting advice.......................?

We have a new metal garage door. It came in white and looks fine with the color of our home but I have to admit that I may want to paint it in the future. Checking different web sites, I see that may not be the right thing to do. It seems the paint flakes off after time.

If a primer is applied first, would the paint last a little longer? Is it worth the effort? If it is, we have no problem with that. I'd just like to know if others have had any experience with this.

    Thanks for your advice.

  • I really don't get it...............?

Let me say first that I've always been a football fan. Living in Miami, you can't help but see and hear everything about the Heat right now. Even though I've asked this question to many, the opinions I get are so very different. Maybe someone on this site has a different one.

I've heard about the team LeBron left to come here. Some have told me Cleveland was pretty good when he was with them and his leaving caused quite an upset.

So here's my question. Why didn't they achieve what the Heat have? Some told me it's because he's now among better players like Wade and Bosh. Some say he just plays better today. Some have even said he had no reason to play better in Cleveland.

So this is why I'm confused. Why wouldn't any team excel if a player like LeBron is with them?

  • Anyone know about cell phone privacy?

This may sound a little strange because it does to me. I just have to know.

A friend tells me that if you have a shared cell phone plan, the person who's paying the bill has the right to listen in on the other's conversations. Evidently, there's a way to easily achieve that without involving any help from the company. And I don't mean the record button on the phone. I mean actually listening in. They can only hear what's being said on the phone they're paying for. They're unable to hear what the other party is saying.

I see this as ludicrous but then again, I've been fooled before. If this is in any way true, please let me know. If it helps, the company my friend uses is Verizon.

    Thank you all.

  • Hope someone knows..............................?

    Strange situation here.

My friend decided to rent a room in her home. She asked $50.00 per week and found a renter quickly. She gave him a key. After 3 days, this renter is not working out. My friend wants him to leave. No contract was signed and not one penny was given for rent.

Now for the problem/question. She has given the renter a key BUT while he was at work today, she had the deadbolt changed. When he arrived to her house, she told him the situation wasn't working out and he needed to leave her home. He wasn't happy saying he'd be back later and that he'd "try" to move some of his things out adding if he had any problems he'd call the police.

Does he have any legal rights because she gave him a key originally which no longer works?

  • Can't quite figure this out?

Even though this doesn't sound right for me, I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe someone reading this site today can explain.

I know someone who sees many things far differently than I do. Most I understand. This one has me puzzled. It has to do with our hearts. I'm fully aware of the medical definition of its purpose yet I tend to see it differently. Terms such as "heartbreak" and "my heart is aching" doesn't seem to hold the same meaning for this person as they do for me. An example of what they say would be "The heart's only purpose is for pumping blood" or "It's impossible for a muscle to break." I can't describe how much hearing things like that bothers me.

Can someone tell me their thoughts and/or beliefs? Why I'm bothered so much by this?

One minute I think I understand and the next confusion sets back in. I appreciate your opinions and views. Thanks.

  • Anyone know about collectibles?

Not sure if I'm in the correct category so please excuse me if I'm not.

I have cereal boxes showing well known sports teams and players. A couple are autographed. Does anyone know if it would be alright if they were stored flattened? It would save some space if I could do that but I didn't want to hurt their possible value.

It's not a big deal but I am curious. Thanks to everyone who answers!

  • Question about hood release cable?

2000 Chevy Blazer. Does anyone know approximately how expensive it is to have it repaired or replaced? Does it take very long?

  • Does anyone know..................?

I'm hoping someone on Yahoo has an answer for my neighbors. They have a beautiful Gumbo Limbo tree that is invaded with swarming white flies. They have tried numerous insecticides trying to rid them but nothing seems to work. They've tried sprays and something that was placed in the soil around the tree.

They don't want it cut down but it's leaving a mess on home roofs and vehicles.

Has anyone had this problem and do you have a solution? If it helps, the location is South Florida.

    Thanks to everyone who answers.

  • Not sure what to think............?

I've researched and asked everyone I can think of. The problem is all the different responses I receive. So I'm going to try you guys as I've always had good answers.

I have recently completed a very bizarre, very true story about something I experienced. After researching several publishers, one caught my attention. Giving a extremely brief description, l only asked was if they may be interested. Didn't even send a cover letter.

Now for my dilemma. They want to read the story. Not just the first 50 pages like I expected but the entire story. Yes, they are a reputable publisher. (I checked several times)

I'd just like opinions on this should I choose to send it. They've asked I send my story as an attachment to the request e-mail I received. Previously, I've mailed it along with a SASE . Only having done that twice, it was to agents, not publishers.

Because of what I've experienced, my trust level isn't good. Maybe I shouldn't be hesitant but I am.

Thanks to all who help me decide.
