  • 1099a form- so lost!?

We moved out our house in July '09, had it for sale. It never sold, went into foreclosure. Apparently, it sold Jan 22, 2010. We got a 1099A form today. We owed about $47,000 on the property. The appraised value was $50,000 ($3,000 difference- loss). Box 5 IS checked (recourse). We've researched IRS and the only info we can find is about 1099C.

What do we do with this? What form would we use? Schedule D? 982? There's practically no info on the 1099A about what to do with it!

To make matters worse, we've already e-filed our 2010 taxes because we believed that the house sold in '09 and figured we would've gotten any forms from the bank already. We were wrong. We know we need to file a an amended return but can't figure out what form we'd even use to adjust-- income or ?? to file the amended form.

  • Website to help me level books with DRA LEVELS?

I'm trying to help my daughter's teacher level some books she already have with their DRA level. I need a website where I can type in the title and it will tell me the DRA level. Anyone know of one? It MUST BE DRA- that's what the school district uses and it's non-negotiable. Thanks!

  • Why don't Baptists dance?

I am a member of a Southern Baptist church (in midwest USA) and have been for 8 years, I got married there, dedicated my babies there but I still have one question that has gone unanswered. What is the whole thing about Baptists not dancing? My personal church kinda talks about it as a joke, but as we were planning our wedding, we were told we could have our reception at the church but that we wouldn't be allowed to have dancing (this was serious)... does anyone know what scripture Baptist churches use to back up by dancing is wrong/evil/sinful? Is it their opinion that all forms are or just certain types? I have attempted to research this on the internet but have come up short.

  • What Star Trek: TNG episode is this?

Okay, I'm a huge geek. ;) I got hooked on ST:TNG years and years ago. I'm trying to find out what episode it is. My memory of it is pretty fuzzy. But it's pretty much about one of the areas on the ship where Counselor Troi is and sees Riker kissing someone else and others see different things like that, too. I want to say Worf and Riker see things, too. Kind of a love triangle type of thing. She swears that as the ship was being built that someone hid a body behind a panel. I'm trying to remember more about it and I really want to see the episode again. Anyone know the name/season of it?

  • If someone is in jail..?

and waiting trial because they can't make bail, is there somewhere I can find out what they've been charged with? I'd prefer somewhere online, but I understand that may not be possible. The case is NOT being carried by the media (tv, newspapers, etc).

  • Finding the mode??

My son is going into 5th grade and in his summer math packet he has a question asking for the mode of these numbers: 23, 25, 21, 17, 19, 20... as far as we can find/remember the "mode" is the most frequent number... there is repeated number, though, so is there just no mode?

  • What do I do with the net on my pork roast?

Okay- I'm probably going to sound really dumb here. I just pulled out a pork roast to make for tomorrow night's dinner and there's a net on it. Do I take that off before cooking or wait until it's done? I plan to put it in the crockpot w/carrots, potatoes, other veggies.

  • Where does the book series "Love Comes Softly" by Janette Oke take place?

It's been a long time since I read the first book "Loves Comes Softly" and I know that Marty and Clem were traveling "west" but is there a state or group of states that it's supposed to be set in? In Book #7, Belinda refers to it as the "plains". Any ideas?

  • What do you do if you have a large dog pass away at home?

I know this is a very unhappy question but what do you do if you have a large dog that passes away at home- is it really okay to bury him in the backyard or will it attract animals? Is there somewhere that deals with this?

Thankfully, I am not dealing with this situation currently but I am the owner of a larger lab (70lbs) and have no idea what I'd do if something happened to him.

  • What are some good ways to "work" our coonhound aside from hunting with her?

My husband has a coonhound.. she's been an alright dog... very good nose. She's able to just naturally "tree" squirrels. Anyhow, what are some good ways to "work" her to get some of her energy out? She isn't papered (we got her at the pound), can she still compete in agility or some other competition? It would be more to keep her busy than anything else. Any other good ideas? I know they're typically hunting dogs but we aren't hunters- HAHA Should I find a hunter to take her along?

  • What do "designer breeders" mix Yorkies with?

First, let me say I am totally NOT in favor of these "designer dogs" but my neighbor has a dog that's part Yorkie and I can't remember what the other part is.. I swear her owner said Chow but I know there's NO WAY that's possible as the thing is just tiny, maybe 5 or 6 lbs.

So what do these "designer breeders" mix Yorkies with? I already know they mix them with Poodles.. what else?

  • How long did your Lab live to be?

I have read so many different ages that a lab will "typically" live to. I've read 10-15, 15-20, 7-10. Any ideas? I have a very healthy, active, energetic 7 1/2 yr old lab.
