Touch the opposite ear - school readiness test?
Here in Czechia, chidren are said to be ready for school as soon as they are able to put their arm over their head to touch the opposite ear. In Czech, it is called the Philippine test, as it is said to be used in the Philippines. What is the term for this in English?

3 AnswersBelgium7 years agoCatalan independence referendum?
The Catalan government is going to hold an independence referendum, with two questions:
1. Do you want Catalonia to become a state?
2. If yes, should that state be independent?
What will happen, if the people answer "yes" to the first question and "no" to the second question? What is a "dependent state"? How does it differ from the current situation?
What do Valencians, Balearans and Catalan speakers in adjacent regions think about the possible independence of Catalonia? Are the current administrative borders of Catalonia natural, or have they just been drawn in Madrid?
The European Union "threatens" Catalonia will not be a member of the union if it becomes independent. Do Catalans really see that as an obstacle? Are they Brussellists?
1 AnswerGovernment7 years agoIs this production and distribution of child pornography?
"A Dutch rights group said Monday it had identified over 1,000 paedophiles around the world by offering online sex with a computer-generated 10-year-old Filipina girl called Sweetie."
further details:
http://phys.org/news/2013-11-virtual-filipina-girl...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24819538
But animated child pornography is child pornography as well. So, the Dutch rights group committed production and distribution of child pornography. The "predators" they caught committed a less serious crime, i. e. possession and viewing of child pornograhy at the most. Am I right? Is the Dutch rights group going to be prosecuted?
6 AnswersMedia & Journalism8 years agoWhat will be the matter with Saudi Arabia's seat as a non-permanent menber of the UN Security Council?
I have read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Securi... that Saudi Arabia was a candidate for a non-peramenent memeber of the UN Security Council for the 2014-2015 term and it was elected, but then it declined its seat. It was the first time in history something like that happened. So, what's going to be next? Will the Saudi Arabia's seat be re-assigned to another Arab Asian country through re-election? Or will the seat be vacant? Will the UN Security Council be without president during the month when it will be Saudi Arabia's turn?
2 AnswersGovernment8 years agoHow can I stop my appeal?
My answer has been reported by the Yahoo Answers community. The notification told me I can appeal, and in case of unsucessful appeal 10 points will be removed from my account. But only after I had sent my appeal, I was informed that "If Customer Care declines your appeal, Your account and your content will be deleted". I would never had appealed if I had known that before. Therefore, how can I stop my appeal before it is assessed?
3 AnswersYahoo Answers8 years agoHow does a monarch address their people? (for Britons, Spaniards, Dutchmen, Belgians, Swedes, Norwegians etc.)?
I live in a republic and when a president or another politician delivers a speech to the people, it always starts with "Dear fellow citizens ...". But it has come to my mind that such an address would be inappropriate in a monarchy, since the people are technically subjects instead of citizens; likewise, the word "fellow" would stress equality too much. So, I am asking those living in monarchies, how does your monarch address their people?

1 AnswerWeather8 years agoWhat gender is Bassaricyon in Latin?
Zologists have recently discovered a new mammal species and named it olinguito in English and Bassaricyon neblina in Latin. Since "neblina" looks like a feminine adjective, I supposed "Bassaricyon" is a feminine noun. But then I found there is also Bassaricyon lasius (Harris's olingo), where "lasius" looks like a masculine noun and therefore Bassaricyon should be maculine. The only possible explanation is that either "neblina" or "lasius" is actually not an adjective, but a noun in apposition. Which one is it? Or do you know any zoological/Latinist forum where people would know it?
