Why can't coax cable carry HD to the TV?
That is: if you use coax (standard pointy TV cable) between the cable box and your TV, it cannot support HD. (I'm not wrong here, am I?)
My question is *why*, given that this is the cable that it went through between the wall and the cable box in the first place.
1 AnswerTVs1 decade agoHow do you open a folder in a new window in Windows Vista?
In XP and older, control-double click performed this action, as opposed to the default of opening the folder in the same window. It doesn't in Vista. Is there some other command now?
And, no, I don't mean going in to folder options and changing it to open *everything* in new windows.

(~1.5mb mp3, no info in the file, no lyrics). I know I remember this song from somewhere, but... no idea what it is.
4 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoWhat is the default username for Comcast internet?
Had it for ages but never before tried to log in to their site online... well, maybe once to set it up, but not in years since. Accounts both named (first initial)(last name) and (first name)(last name) exist, but no passwords I use get me in to either, and when I try to reset the password, the answers I would give to either of those accounts' secret questions are incorrect. So I don't think either one is me... unless I typed it wrong when I answered it the first time. Does anyone know how Comcast creates the default usernames from your real name?

More of it (compared to the reccommended daily value) than anything else in the pills. Why so much? What good is it?
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoWhen should the word 'extant' be used opposed to 'existent'?
See http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/existent
and http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/extant .
They seem almost the same, yet I don't often see them used interchangably.
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat is good/bad to eat when you have thrush (oral yeast infection)?
I came down with one after being on antibiotics, since those can mess up the balance of organisms in your body. I've already gone to the doctor and have a prescription to treat it, but they said it'll be a week probably before it really starts working. In the mean time, what is good or bad to eat? Like I know yogurt helps prevent such infections, but I didn't know if it was also good once you already have one.
3 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow do you hold the Wiimote for Need for Speed: Carbon on the Wii?
For the default configuration, simulating "steering" with the remote, how are you supposed to hold it? In the game's config, it shows it flat, buttons up, and you raise and lower the ends. This seems counterintuitive, and indeed the manual (all 4 pages of it) shows it held on its side, buttons facing you, and turning it as you would a steering wheel. This makes more sense to me, but since it conflicts with what the game shows, I was curious what the correct style is - either seems to work vaguely, but I'm too bad at the game to tell which is actually more accurately controlling it.
4 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoWhy do people constantly make questions that are nothing more than blatant, and often offensive points?
I see this constantly on the politics section in particular. All day, the questions read on the order of, "Why does (x political party) suck so much???" As if this is seriously a quesion. Some don't even bother pretending this much. Do people really think anyone is going to go on Yahoo! Answers, see a question insulting their party, and go, "hey, you're right, I'll switch sides"? I don't understand it. Not to mention it is the very first thing prohibited in the rules - Don't use questions as a soapbox. So what do you think, why do people do this so much? Are they just venting their rage, or do they really think they're accomplishing something?
5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoStrange ipod scrolling problem...?
Since I recently restored and updated my iPod (5th G, from v1.2 to 1.2.1 - restored due to moving to new comp, no problems with it before), when I scroll quickly, as to pop up the scroll-by-letter feature, it will now stop and think it is at 'T' every time it reaches a song beginning with "The", which it is smart enough to sort in the list by the next word. I don't recall this ever happening before, and it's quite annoying - scrolling through the alphabet in the song list will go A, B, T, B, C, T, D, T, D, T, E, etc... Is this a bug in this version, or what's up?
1 AnswerMusic & Music Players1 decade agoWhat technically happens when you replace a file with another (when moving and they have the same name)?
What I'm wondering, really, is whether it performs the same actions as if you simply deleted the old file before moving the new. In that case, the space is marked as empty on the allocation table, and then reused later. Is this all that happens when overwriting a file as well, or does it actually move one file to occupy the other's space, and thus if they are different sizes, cause more fragmentation than deleting first?

Driving along I-5 in WA on any given day, I'll see several cars along the side of the road, empty, and with numbers painted on the back in orange. Why?
