So i dropped the tranny out of my truck and when I turn the input shaft then the output shaft also turns. I find this odd since the tranny was in neutral when i dropped it and its my understanding that if it was in neutral then the output shaft should not spin.

My bigger concern is on my used replacement tranny there is no spinning on the output shaft. is this normal? I REALLY do not want to spend my entire sunday putting a broken tranny into my truck after I spent my entire saturday taking a broken tranny out.

I have a 1/2in x 6in iron rod with two full coils of 18ga insulated solid copper wire. I know the wire and number of turns is not the best. My main concern is how does the electricity affect the strength of the magnet. Here's a list of all of the power options I have tried:

- 4 x 9v batteries in series

- 4 x 9v batteries in parallel

- 1 x D cell battery

- 19v, 200 mA power supply

- 4700 uF, 35v electrolytic capacitor

All other things being equal, the D cell provides the strongest magnetism. I don't understand why. It's my understanding that the voltage is the most important aspect of the electricity of an electromagnet. So why does a 1.5v battery work better than a 19v power supply or 35v capacitor.

Can anyone help me understand this? Also what is a good amount of power to supply a pound or 2 of magnetism?

I dont know much about HVAC but I am handy with DITY repairs so excuse my not knowing the proper names for things.

There is a a thing that looks like an octopus its a copper pipe about 3/4in and on the bottom there is 6 other copper pipes like maybe 1/16in that branch off into the plenum. the large pipe leads up to to a round red thing on top of the plenum. When the unit comes on, the outside of the "octopus" frosts over starting with the "legs" and moving up to the round red thing. The round red thing also has a few other small copper pipes, one leads to the electrical part above (might be a thick wire, I cant tell) and one leads to a larger copper pipe that comes from the floor. (I'm assuming to/from the compressor outside)

Obviously the unit cools since the pipes frost over in a matter of seconds, but only the bottom 1 maybe 2 coils in the plenum cool down. I was thinking this seemed like a blockage in the coils.

Also, since the frost stops at the round red thing it seems like maybe there is a problem with that, but I dont know what it is or what it does.

Sorry I know the description is a bit vague but any help would be great.

Mitsubishi Galant 1998.

I was in a recent auto accident that damaged the radiator area and I am trying to fix it myself. The check engine light is on it runs pretty hot.

First off I understand that the coolant system is pressurized. In the accident the coolant bottle was crushed in such a way that the cap does not fit properly onto the bottle. The hose is still in the coolant and it doesnt leak. Could this cause a problem since the bottle cannot be pressurized?

Second the radiator fans do not come on when the engine is turned on. does the thermostat need to activate the fans before they come on? ie is this "normal"

Its a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant ES. It has about 150,000 miles on it and it was in a recent accident. The radiator is smashed with one of the headlights and the check engine light is on. BUT the car still runs and i believe the engine itself is not damaged.

Should I sell it to a scrap/junk yard or would it be worth more if i tried selling it to an auto shop that might want it to fix up. To make a long story shot i need some quick cash so what option would be the most profitable?

both usb slots are full with 2 wired guitars. is it possible to add a wired mic like with a usb hub or is there a usb slot on the wireless drums or do i HAVE to get a wireless mic to play with both guitars? thanks

I have read in several places that the xbox live headsets can be used as mics in the rockband games. Well i plugged it into the controller and restarted the xbox just like the manual says to do but when i try to play using a mic it says some thing like "please connect between one to three mics one for each vocalist" or something like that. I made sure to unmute the mic etc. What do i need to do to be sure the game and the xbox recognizes the headset?? BTW the controller is wireless since both USB slots are taken by guitars.

I was in the Sea Cadets for about 2 years and made E-4. I did boot camp and and a few advanced trainings. I did a lot of book work and classes and got all 3.7-4.0 on them. Well recently I enlisted in the US Army (the Navy was full) and I wanted to know if any of this could help me earn another rank before i ship. I already have E-2 since i have enough college courses. Can I get E-3 from the experience and rank that I earned in the USNSCC?? My NSCC CO said he though i could get E-3 as wells as the XO but my recruiter didn't think so so im a little confused!! Thanks a ton!!!

I have already signed a 3 year contract as 19K. I was told that during basic they would ask who wanted to become SF. Is this only during BCT or infantry AIT? I have OSUT for 19K. Is it too late to shoot for SF? Thanks a ton!
