  • How can I go on after finding this out?

In Mississippi, where I live and practice, the law has abolished the exemption for spousal rape, which used to give immunity to a man who raped his own wife if they lived together. Mississippi law also makes domestic violence which would include the battery of one's spouse a crime. However, Mississippi has retained an exemption for a perpetrator of sexual battery on his spouse if they are living together. What that means is a man is free to batter his wife as long as the battery is sexual in nature. So, you can sexually assault your wife as much as you want, and never be prosecuted. How can I not kill myself now that I have found this out?

  • Where did the "sagging pants" style originate?

One of my African American friends who grew up inner city said that it came out of the prisons, b/c they don't have belts in prison. Is this true?

  • Where did the "sagging pants" style originate?

I used to clean pools when I was in college for a pool company. The guy who owned the pool co. was a middle aged black guy. He used to ride around with me to the houses sometimes, and all he talked about was his life growing up inner city poor. (He was actually pretty rich from owning the pool co.). He said that the style of wearing sagging pants came from prison b/c they are not allowed to have belts in prison. Is that true? He also said he was a Vice Lord, and was a "four corner hustler," which I think is a rank or job description or something. Does this add up?

  • what is emo? is it goth? is there music involved?

when i was in jr. high school 86-89 we had skaters, hoods, nerds, and preps. it was the 80's so everybody was a little bit gay. it sucked. worst period in the histoy of mankind and a shame on those of us who lived it.

high school 90-94 i think something happened culturally, and there were not really any expressed group identities anymore. i think NIRVANA AND PEARL JAM did this somehow.

is this generation going to turn us back to sucking like we did in the 80's. even the sound of the word emo sounds hideous. "emo" is it japanese? it sounds japanese. i hate it. i don't even know what it is, but it makes me angry. emo . . . what a bunch of douche bags.

  • Does anybody have a theory as to the meaning of the song "Garden" by Pearl Jam on Ten.?

This song has always been one of my favorite songs of all time, and I have always accepted it for what it was, and never really needed to know what it was about. The other day Someone asked me what it was about, and it was the only time I have ever been completely unable to give even a fraudulent answer to this type of question. What the h is he talking about. The meanings of their other songs are allusive also, but if I concentrate, I can at least give some type of plausible meaning. So, anybody know? Even if you don't know, but you have a theory, let me here it.

By the way, Pearl Jam 10 is the only album that I can say that regardless of a persons taste in music, is objectively speaking an exceptionally good compilation.

  • what relationship, if any, does religion have to mental illness?

the religion section of this sight, judging by the questions and answers i have read, seems to be the section of preference for crazy people. I am not saying that all religious people, or religiouns are crazy, but there seems to be something about the topic that attracts the insane. i am really not being sarcastic or insulting. this is an honest question.

  • Are 12 step meetings necessary?

I have been clean and sober from pain pill addiction for the past five years. I did inpatient treatment. I have never really gotten much from going to twelve step meetings and find them to be distasteful. Are they really necessary?
