  • What's the difference between Paganism and Witchcraft?

I understand that you could say one is a religion and one is a lifestyle, but where do you draw that line?

If a lot of witchcraft-related situations call for the use of a deity... doesn't that make it a religion/part of Paganism?

(I know a one girl who outright says she is "pagan" and a girl and two ladies who are "into that kind of thing" - crystals, astral projection, etc. - and I feel rude not knowing what I'm dealing with when I talk to them...!)

  • How to deal with a DIFFICULT colleague?

I could do with some advice here, I'll try to keep it short.

Basically I'm a student and I also work at my halls of residence as a residence officer; that means I'm like out of hours support for students.

There are two of us in each hall, and the one I work with is really beginning to piss me off.

At the beginning, he looked like superman. He was sending in so many logs to the supervisors, I was really worried no one was calling me because they didn't like me! He was also making our monthly rotas, in which he'd give himself three weekdays off (and most weekends) so he could go swimming with his team. I never complained about anything because I just couldnt (I've since been diagnosed with moderate depression and am taking medication for it. That's probably why.). He was basically screwing me over every month. I got it together and made the next months and he complained he had too many nights on without a break (after putting me on for four days at a time, I hardly think two would hurt him).

Then after christmas, I had to deal with a really big issue that went down during his duty hours. His phone was switched off, so I handled it myself. He's really disliked me ever since, because I got an award for it.

Since then we've discovered he put the wrong phone number for him on every rota from September to now, meaning I was on duty every night without realising, because no one could get through to him. I do not beleieve it was an accident like he says.

He's now sent me three months worth of rotas (!!) and is pissed off because I said I didn't like them. Would you want to commit to a schedule when you have no idea what you'll be doing in three months?!

He said "I've taken nights off before exams [fair enough] and I'd be happy to let you do the same"

    LET me?!

Who the F*** does this guy think he is?!?!

TL;DR: Do I send him a nasty shut the f*** up email back, or just ignore him? Can I talk to my supervisors or will they think I'm snitching on him? I really don't know. >.< I might end up working with him for another year, I can't take it.

  • DHL delivery question?

I paid VAT on a parcel and DHL are going to deliver it tomorrow (I paid over the phone). For some reason the guy on the phone gave me two numbers, one is nine digits long and the other is six. I have no idea what they're for. He had the most awful accent ever, and he put the phone down as soon as he'd given me them.

Does anyone know what they're for? I'm worried I'll need to quote one or both to the delivery man - my parcel is being delivered to my halls of residence and will be taken by my hall manager. :/

  • What can you do to get smaller breasts?

This might sound odd what with a lot of women wanting theirs bigger - but I just hate mine. I'm not very tall and I'm a 34C. I was happy at a B, but now I'm pushing D and I hate it. I've put some weight on so that might be it?

What can I do to make them smaller? I read that push ups can, but won't that make the muscles under them BIGGER? Should I just aim to lose weight generally? So confused!

  • Minimum spend for VAT charge - imported clothing?

I'm planning to buy some things from Bodyline in Japan. I've already bought some things worth £25 and someone told me I won't need to pay VAT because it's below the minimum charge for VAT.

How much would I have to spend in order to be charged VAT? I've heard you can get hit pretty hard with it, so I'd like to know if I'll need to split my next order up. (My next order will be bigger.)

    Thank you. :)

  • Having clothes sent from Japan - VAT?

I've bought £25 worth of items from Bodyline in Japan. I used an online calculator and found I won't have to pay customs, but I will have to pay VAT - how does this work? My parcel is being delivered via DHL. What will happen? Will they deliver the parcel or will I have to pay something first? If so, how will I know?

I've never paid VAT on anything I've bought from abroad before, so sorry if this is a silly question. :)

  • which Broken Sword game is this?

I saw my dad play it YEARS ago! I remember little bits of it but not much more. I know there was a bit in a museum where if you hid inside the sarcophagus, some men would throw it into the river and it was game over. I remember a bit where you could ask a flowerlady what lilies signify and you can buy one for Nico if you so choose (LOL). I also remember a little Irish kid with a ridiculous accent. I know it's not much to go on but does anyone know which one it is? Thanks!

  • Blackberries - SIMPLE FACTS?

Okay, sorry about the caps rape. I'm frustrated. :3

Basically, I've been looking to maybe get a Blackberry Curve. 02 have a purple one on Pay As You Go which is perfect because I'm a student and I DO NOT WANT a contract because at some point you can guarantee I won't have the money to pay it.

I've been researching, but I cant find a SIMPLE description of how they work.

I've wanted a smartphone for a while but I don't want an iphone. Too many issues, and I hate touchscreens.

Here's what I wanted from it:

    - Free MSN. I have American friends I'd like to be able to talk to without paying a fortune per text.

    - Free Facebook app... maybe. I can live without that, but it'd be nice.

    - Decent camera.

    - Easy internet access, preferably wifi so I don't have to pay a buttload.

Can I have all those things without a contract? I found out about something called a data plan that apparently you have to have in order to use any internet based stuff. I don't WANT a contract for gods sake. What's the sense in having a pay and go phone AND a contract on top? But then I ALSO read that because Windows Live Messenger is third party, I can use it without a data plan.

Please don't link me to some webpage with no actual answer. I'd like a BB user to explain it, ideally. :3 Thanks!

  • Why are these cats meowing at each other?

One of them is mine, he's the black one. The other one belongs to a neighbour and he's ginger. They're both adult males.

Okay so basically they're being really weird around each other - they sit opposite each other outside and meow at each other. My cat will meow, there's a pause and then the ginger cat will meow back. They can do this for hours!! I've looked it up and all the webpages say that only happens when they're getting ready to fight or working out who's the dominant one but they seem to like each other - they go out of their way to find each other when they're out and they'll meow all day O_o Another thing they do is they'll lie on the pavement far apart and take it in turns to get up, walk really slowly for a few paces, then lie down again.

    Thanks for any info :D

  • Tell me about Android phones?

I've only just heard of these. I know it's a smartphone and people are a bit divided as whether it's better than iPhone or not. Can someone tell me what Android IS? eg, Apple iPhones are apps, internet and simplicity. So what's android? If that makes sense. Thanks!

  • Can I bleach my overprocessed hair in 5 months or so?

About two months ago I DESTROYED it and got the old chewing gum head effect. It's better now and only stretches a bit when I put a semi permanent colour on it (which I've done recently to cover up the fried orange that was showing through). I'm looking at a treatment called Aphogee that should apparently make a massive difference. I've been conditioning the holy hell out of it, deep conditioners and mild shampoos every two or three days. I also cut most of it off. Do you think it will be alright to have bleached (at a salon this time!!!) about five months from now?

    Thanks!

Also, if anyone knows of Aphogee, give me your opinions. :)

  • Books about Japanese high school? X3?

I like reading general teen fiction when I've got nothing better to do and I thought I could make it a bit more interesting - I've come across a copy of Natsuo Kirino's Grotesque and I've found I much prefer reading about Japanese teenagers! It's probably because it seems so different to the same old 'girl sees boy, spends 200 pages stalking boy, boy kisses girl, the end' English books you see so often.

Anyway, do you know of any good books like this? :)

Suggest som'more? I wouldn't know where to start.

Every single question I've viewed for three days says 'this question was originally asked on yahoo answers USA'. I'm on the same site I always am... the address bar, right now, says 'uk.answers.yahoo...'

I'm kind of useless at answering amercan stuff XD

  • Why is everyone always complaining about Obama? :/?

I don't get it. Whenever a new president gets elected, there's an initial 'YAY this one will be GOOD' then everyone starts hating them! I don't get how the majority of a country can vote a guy in whilst hating them. What's Obama done wrong, exactly? :S

  • Ramadan: Why do people put irrelevant questions in this section? :/?

Eleven answers and I didn't get to see any of them because ONE wanker reported me. If an answer offends you, report IT. This question is not offensive at all, I am genuinly curious.

So anyway, my original question asked why people ask random questions, eg 'What are your good memories' in this section? I don't understand how it relates to Ramadan? Thanks. And sorry if you're having to repost your answer. Shame so many people have too much time on their hands. :(

  • what's the best combination of books for this essay?

The essay is about 'the Other', foreignness, being an 'outsider'. I've fallen behind a bit and havent read some of my books (>.<!) so I know Dracula would be a good one, but I don't know which out of these to do as a comparison:

Woman in Black - Susan Hill

    Affinity - Sarah Waters

    Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte

    Great Expectations - Charles Dickens

My first thought was Wuthering Heights because from what I understand, Heathcliff was adopted from a foreign place and never really becomes part of the family. Or is there a better one than that on here? :S

  • Hair question - going blonde for damaged hair?

My hair was overprocessed a while ago, stretching like mad. It's pretty much normal now - it feels like hair, it isn't stretching or anything. But I'm still a bit wary of it and I still condition it to death (using Aussie 3 minute miracle reconstructor). If I went to a salon would it be safe for them to bleach my hair or will it go back to being chewing gum?

(note: my hair's brown now and has semi pemanent colour on it)

    Thanks!

  • Y!A moderators-- are they a weird metaphor?

    My theory is this:

Y!A mods are SAID to remove offensive and otherwise wrong questions. They are meant to look out for them across the site.

    Have you ever seen one?

It seems when a question is reported, it's automatically removed by some deleting machine.

So here's the big deal life changing question:

    Are WE the Y!A mods?!?!

Are we being taught to clean up our own messes using a non existant staff?

(PS, I'm not actually insane, this just made me laugh when I thought about it :'D)
