...It was the greatest show on earth...and then it was over...

  • Want to see what Ted Thompson's up to now?

Uh-oh...some more recent Packers news coming off the wires is that Ryan Grant is "insulted" by the teams latest offer on his contract extention. Wonder if they'll be chasing Grant out of town next. And what are they planning to do with Johnny Jolly? Surely Favre was chased out of town for much less than felony drug prescription charges. At least they shored up "I'll show up slow and late" Poppinga with Brandon Chillar this offseason. Oh wait...then gave Poppinga a lucrative extention? Maybe they meant to make the check out to "Ryan Grant..."

Anyone want to share insights on how you'd grade Ted Thompson's managerial skills as of late? You know, just talkin' fan to fan here.

  • Perhaps the Pack has "no comment" on Favre because plans are in the works?

Much has been said in the past couple of days about a possible return by Brett Favre. Only maybe the Pack doesn't want him back. Or maybe they do. Let's all remember at this point that everything is, according to Favre "just rumor." That doesn't seem like much of a denial, it seems like a pretty "safe" answer to give. Green Bay has been equally as coy, and has stopped short of announcing "Favre will not be returning." Favre allegedly texts Thompson, who texts back stating that he's on "vacation" and that they'll talk later. Reports now indicate Thompson is back in Green Bay, vacation cut short. Is a deal in the works? In my opinion, the Pack had better get their heads straight and realize that Favre is doing them one hell of a favor if he chooses to return. Green Bay owes Rodgers nothing, and Favre a whole lot. Who'd you rather have leading your team next season? How many of you feel that a return is inevitable? Where do you feel Favre should/will be next season...

  • Who's tired of...?

...the NBA and it's seemingly endless season, the MLB and the three-hour snoozefests that half of the games have become, the endless debates on who's going to be -the team- in 2008. Are you ready for some football?! I follow every team report put out by my Green Bay Packers...I track practices and find out things like veterans Al Harris and Charles Woodson are finally both together practicing with the team. Let's get this contract situation figured out so we can get Ryan Grant onto the field. Let's this, let's that...

Are you all as impatient as I am for the season to start?! What are you guys excited about in 2008 when it concerns your favorite team. Are you optimistic about your team's chances for success? Or are they going to suck it yet again (yes, I'm looking at you, Minnesota fans.) Just kidding. No, I'm not.

  • So former Green Bay Packer WR Bill Schroeder "retires as a Packer?"?

Former Green Bay Packer WR Bill Schroeder recently announced that he would retire as a Green Bay Packer. Schroeder played for Green Bay from 1997-2001, then spent 2002-'03 in Detroit and '04 in Tampa Bay.

So obviously he hasn't played in four years. Does anyone know of any special benefits or recognition that he'd get for deciding to retire with one team instead of another? Or is it just for bragging rights "I retired with the Packers the same season Favre retired" type stuff.

  • What can cause a motherboard to die?

I have a Compaq laptop that I purchased in 2005. Last night as my wife was checking her email, the screen suddenly went gray and nothing could be done about it. I shut it down and went to reboot, but it wouldn't boot. Took it down to the local computer shop today and they pulled it apart, said the motherboard is dead.

So what exactly causes a motherboard to die? It's not like I had the computer that long, but then again it has been to Iraq and back and that's definately not the best place for a computer. Regardless of this though, the tech. who's working on my laptop said it isn't that dirty, and doubts dirt had anything to do with it...

  • How many of you seriously feel that Green Bay is done without Favre?

I've heard it quite a bit here, so I have to ask. How many of you seriously feel that Green Bay is done now that Favre is retired? Why? Give me something to back up this claim. Green Bay has come off from a very successful season (with a deep drive in the playoffs and loss to eventual SUPER BOWL Champion NY Giants,) the team is the youngest in the NFL, yet has already proven itself to be very talented. Normally it takes a year or two for players to hit their prime, and if I'm doing the math right, that equals a lot of guys on Green Bay's roster who have yet to show their full potential. The team has stated that they believe in Rodgers, and he's certainly learned a thing or two serving under Favre for the past few years. Hell, he even stood in for Favre during many practices. Yet detractors wish to point out that he's had little time on the field backing up "Iron Man" Favre...yet when he has he's posted impressive numbers. I say if Rodgers stays healthy, your team better watch out.

  • If the NFL ever decided to downsize, which team would you miss the least?

Suppose you were on a NFL board of directors, and you had to come up with the task of eliminating an entire NFL franchise, for whatever reason. Which team would you get rid of? Why?

  • Who is your favorite NFL rival?

I will say, for as much trash as I talk about the Dallas Cowboys, they're always one hell of a good show when they're up against my Green Bay Packers, even if my blood pressure is almost always boiling given the recent trend of Dallas winning most of these meetings.

But I have to give my favorite rivalry to that of my Packers and the cross-border Chicago Bears. It's one for the ages in the NFL and is steeped in tradition. The Bears also used to hold their Spring Training camp in Wisconsin every year, which gave us Packer fans plenty of time to talk trash to the Bears faithful.

  • Which NFL team has the most annoying fans?

Maybe I can break this down into word associations. Sort of like this. I say "Cowboys", you say "convict"...I say "Patriots", you say "bandwagon". I say "Raiders", you say "livin' the thug life." Get it?

I am a fan of the Green Bay Packers, and I personally have to go with a division rivals' fans, that of the "purple pride" Minnesota Vikings. I mean come on guys, seriously. You're cheering a bunch of grown men who run around wearing purple helmets with horns on them. And they're never really any good! Honestly.

The other rivals in my division include the Lions (who, let's admit, really aren't worth the time) and the Bears, who I will say have offered a long and historic rivalry with my team, one well worth the cross-border insults and name calling.

p.s.I enjoy the "trash talking" aspect of being a die-hard fan of a particular team, so don't be offended if I poked fun at your team of choice. =) Unless you're a bandwagoneer. In which case, I don't respect you anyways.

  • Is Shawn Michaels really a different man than the "Heartbreak Kid" of the '90's?

I'm an "old school" WWF fan who used to watch back in the day when Shawn Michaels was the "Heartbreak Kid" and had infamous feuds with some of my favorite wrestlers at that time, perhaps most notably with Bret "Hitman" Hart.

I don't watch too much WWE lately but I do know that they've been touting Shawn Michaels as a "born again" Christian, a "changed man" from the egotistical punk of the "Heartbreak Kid" era.

So has Shawn Michaels really changed? Or is it just good p.r. work and storylines.

  • I want to know the best setup/your dream setup for watching an NFL game at your home?

The question says it all...what's the best setup for watching a NFL game on TV that you've seen. By this I mean everything from type and brand of TV to what type of signal you get. Cable? HDTV? Plasma? LCD? Widescreen? Dish? NFL Network? Surround Sound? Sony? Magnavox? etc...

What's your setup, or what's your dream setup...

  • Top 3 heated rivalries?

Which 3 NFL teams are the biggest rivals to your favorite team?

I would say that the Packer's biggest rivals would be the Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Dallas Cowboys. Historically the Bears and Cowboys have a slight edge in overall victories vs. the Pack, and the Packers have an edge over the Vikings.

  • Are "discount store" colognes as good as their department store counterparts?

I'm talking about the sealed, in original packaging, name brand colognes. I've heard rumors that the "formula" used in the colognes destined to hit Wal-Mart type stores may be more watered down or cheaper than that headed for a "higher class" department store.

I don't really believe this but does anyone know any differently?

  • What is your teams "draft strategy?"?

My favorite team is Green Bay. Packers General Manager Ted Thompson is known for drafting a player on draft day who he believes is the best overall player left in the draft. According to Thompson, this creates a long-term investment for the team and competition for the starting position across the roster.

Before hearing about Thompson's strategy, I felt that a team should "build up" the weak positions in the roster by using the draft.

So two different strategies here...one is taking the best player available with each selection, the other is reaching to fill specific needs.

What would your draft strategy be for your favorite team? How does your team draft?

  • Monday Night Football Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings?

Regular season opening game for the Pack and Vikings, Monday Sept. 8, 2008. Lambeau Field. Brett Favre's #4 jersey will be retired this game. 2 prime location tickets. Going to be one hell of a game. Anyone else going? And before anyone asks no, I'm not selling. =)

  • Is Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson wise or foolish?

The question has been brought up many times about whether or not Packers GM Ted Thompson was wise or foolish in not trying harder to accomidate Favre coming back. Why didn't he try to bring established weapons to the team, especially Randy Moss? Brett said it best at his retirement conference, at his age and experience anything short of another Super Bowl win would be a failure. I personally feel that Thompson is doing what's best for the Pack in the long run. Let's face it, even if there was another season or two with Favre, it'd never last forever. Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy have stuck with their strategy to build through the draft, and last season proved that the Pack are a young team on the rise. QB Rodgers has rode the bench for years now, and has absorbed about all he can from Favre, the coaches, and Green Bay's West Coast offensive scheme. The switch had to happen sometime, so why not now. Brett Favre will be sorely missed, but the Pack will go on. Opinions?

  • Most despised NFL team?

Which NFL team can you just not stand? Feel free to state your reason. I'm sure this has been asked here a million times, but if you object to the question then maybe you shouldn't make the effort to answer. I ask this now because maybe the "offseason" has helped to quell some hatred for certain teams that were hot during the last season, like the Pats backlash.

In any event, I am a Green Bay Packer fan, so the DALLAS COWBOYS are the team that I LOVE TO HATE.
