  • How do I keep bum fur clean from having poo stick to it?

For the first time ever, I have a long hair kitty. Sometimes when she goes to the bathroom and takes a poo, some of it sticks to her bum. She doesn't always clean herself right away and it gets stuck deep into her fur and then she carries it and the stink around with her. She'll smell the stink on herself and then act like she's digging in her litter box to bury it (even though she's standing on the bed or the couch). It makes me think she's gonna go right there.

This morning I had to cut a chunk of the fur out since there was a lot of poo sticking to it. I was thinking about trying to trim the fur around her bum to prevent poo from sticking.

Does anyone have an idea of how can I keep this area clean without having to trim the fur down?

  • pet insurance?

Has anyone recently acquired pet insurance for their pet(s)? Are there any benefits to the plans besides serious illness or accidents?

I'm wondering if there is an insurance out there that has yearly visits included in the plan or are they all set up for emergencies. Something that works more like insurance that we would get for ourselves and our family. Where when you go into the doctors offic, you have a co-pay and where shots and test are covered by the insurance.

  • blood on stool?

My 8 month indoor kitty has had a bright red mucusy blood on her stool tonight (not in her stool, but on it). Her stool was solid and there was just a bit of blood. On Friday night, she had the same mucusy blood on her stool, but the stool was soft. I fed her quite a bit of raw liver on Friday morning and thought that it might be that she didn't digest all of it, but it happened again tonight (2 nights later). She's eating the same as always and she's energetic, so there are no physical changes to be seen.

I've had her for a touch over 2 months (adopted from the shelter). She's had all her shots and has had 3 sets of deworming, the last in the middle of October. I have another kitty that is 5 months old and he's fine (adopted at the same time). He's had almost all of his shots, just going to get the last set this month. He's also had 3 sets of deworming as well.

I don't think it's worms since they've been dewormed. She can't be in heat since she's been fixed (2 months ago).
