I don't know which is funnier, the fact that you can't seem to track down one moron with a pile of sock-puppet accounts, or that you have cancelled several top contributors accounts because of this bonehead.

I need the power series for the first derivative of the n'th Bessel function of the 1'st kind.

I just moved and all my references are still packed and I can't find it on the 'net.

I think it goes like:

After reading Samantha D's question, it occurs to me that someone really should write up a research proposal and get some of 'Mistah Obamas' stimulus package money to do research into a new form of paranoid neuropathy which should be called '2012 Neuropathic Behavior Syndrome'. Look how many people are obviously affected by it. It causes loss of rational comprehension, schizoid breaks with reality, an almost catatonic fascination with ancient Calendar systems, and delusional rationalizations of (non-existent) relationships between poorly (or even fictionally) reported events, incoherent babblings and writings (past and future) predicting doom, and a general malaise which contributes to a deep-seated fear of the future and devaluation of the individuals perceived self-worth (since we're all gonna die anyway).

It does have a catchy sort of 'Pop-Sciencey' ring to it that would probably sell a ton of copies of the 'National Enquirer'. Hell..... Maybe I could use it as the basis for a Doctoral Dissertation and get that PhD in Psychology I gave up when I decided to do Math and Physics instead.

Actually....... Maybe it should be called "Dougs Disease" after the αsshole who first described it in the literature ☺

Howzabout it guys? Anybody besides me think that it might work? ☺

I have a skull-buster of a problem. Running at 57,600 baud the transmitter side works perfectly but the receiver doesn't seem to recognize an incoming character. I know the transmit interrupt is working since the interrupt handler (on a simple 8051 CPU) is capable of driving a string of characters out and they are received OK. But sending a character (or a string of characters) back into the UART fails to produce an interrupt (I've watched the interrupt pin with a logic probe on both transmit and receive). Both of the interrupt enable bits (bits 0 and 1) are set in the UART interrupt enable register, and I'm certain the character coming in is good (a loopback test to the far-end sender works just fine). The baud rate has to be correct (since the same clock drives the receiver as the transmitter), and I'm just kinda stumped. The same code I'm using to initialize it is known to have worked (about 4 years ago) in another application using the same UART.

Any thoughts??

HELP!!!!

4 sailors spend a few days picking coconunts on a island to make a bit of money. On their last night, the 1'st sailor starts thinking, "I'm not sure I trust these guys. I'm going to take my 1/4 now." So he divides the pile of coconuts into 4 equal piles and has one coconut remaining which he throws into the bushes. He takes his pile and goes to his boat. During the rest of the night his 3 partners have the same thought and do the same thing. Each time dividing the remaining pile into 4 equal piles and having one left over which is thrown into the bushes.

Next morning the pile is much smaller, but nobody says a word as they're all equally 'guilty'. So they just divide the remaining pile into 4 piles and this time the pile divides exactly into 4 equal piles with no remainder.

Question: What is the *smallest* number of coconuts that could have been in the pile to begin with? And how do you find all of the numbers of coconuts that would work in this puzzle?

When I hear Al ('I invented the Internet') Gore or any of his sycophants howling about how Man is causing 'Global Warming' that will destroy civilization, why am I reminded of a 'Bible Thumper' Evangelist preaching belief in a lot of other things that must be accepted on *Faith* rather than proven by the *Scientific* *Method*?

The thing that troubles me most is that 'real' scientists are forced to go along with the 'PC' point of view that Man *is* responsible for 'Global Warming'. An Oregan State Climatologist was outright fired for not supporting some legislation intended to minimize 'Global Warming' because he didn't see sufficient scientific evidence to demonstrate a causal relationship. And researchers across the Country and around the World are finding it more and more difficult to get funding for research that doesn't support this point of view.

Do we really want to see the 'National Enquirer' become this countries premier scientific publication?
