My new dog does not know how to walk on a leash?
He is 2 years old but we do not believe he has ever been taught to walk on a leash. He allows me to harness him and clip on the leash but he lays down and refuses to walk when I pull the leash. He will allow me to walk next to him holding the lead but doesn't like to be pulled. Thoughts?
9 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMy new dog is food and toy possessive against other animals?
I adopted him from a rescue group today. I knew going in that he was food/toy possessive. He lets humans take his toys and food away. However he gets stiff and nippy when my other dog approaches him while he is eating or playing. I have read plenty of helpful articles to deal with human vs. dog possessiveness but not dog vs. dog possessiveness. Any ideas or links would be great.

In middle school I used a computer program that allowed you to make floor plans for a home, and also it allowed you to explore the home, decorate it and paint it. My mother and I are trying to plan our kitchen. Do you know of any programs like this?

3 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoWhat is the name of this classical music song?
It was a really high-energy song that I heard on the radio YEARS ago. I don't remember the composer, but the title had the word "cowboy" in it. It was "something of the cowboy" or "the cowboy's something". Any ideas?

She has sores dappling her body ranging in size from the tip of a pencil to an eraser. She does not have fleas or ticks. What else can cause this? Is it time to contact the vet?
She is allowed outside but there are no other cats in the area. She is 15 years old.
4 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat is the best glucosamine supplement for cats?
My cat turned 16 this year and is having trouble getting up and laying down. It takes her a few minutes to do either. Has anyone had success with glucosamine supplements and if so, what brand would you recommend? She takes small pills very easily (she takes 2x daily medication) but will not take medicine in the form of treats (like heartworm pills.)

5 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoCan I use the term "black" in an academic paper?
I am writing a paper comparing the writings of Henry David Thoreau (an abolitionist) and Martin Luther King Jr (a civil rights leader.)
Is it politically correct to use the term "black" when describing people of African descent in an academic paper? King uses the term "*****" but I'm fairly certain that word is out of date.

The vet gave us anti-nausea pills but she is still vomiting after taking her anti-biotic. I tried giving her saltines which seemed to help a little. What else can I give her? She is a 2 year old shih-tzu. The vet cannot see us until Monday.

1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoDid Native Americans have permanent settlements?
I'm doing a cultural anthropology research paper on a site that my teacher took us to. We are investigating the purpose of a strange structure in the middle of the woods. It's made out of brownstone. We have figured out that this structure was used to divert the direction of a river.
In all of my local research, I can't find any evidence as to who made it.
The most confusing thing is that there are Latin words "Geoes Mater", what looks like Akkadian cuneiform, and english all on the same structure. I believe that these were carved in the structure after it was originally built.
I have come up with two options: either English settlers in the area or Native Americans built this structure. The English obviously had permanent settlements...or I wouldn't be here. ;) I am unsure if Native Americans had permanent settlements. I was under the impression that they had temporary settlements that were easy to move as their food sources migrated. Am I correct in this assumption? I wasn't sure what to google to find this answer. The tribe that lived in this area was the Podunk (more specifically the Hockanum)
ANY input is appreciated!

1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoWhat is the name of the book that has a gay woman pretending to be a man?
I had it but now I can't find it! It was on Oprah last year or the year before. It was a true story about a gay woman who masqueraded as a man. She played in a men's bowling club and her name was Nora I think. I need to re-read it for a sociology project but I can't think of the title!
