  • Oregon Mask Law: face covering?

I was wondering if it is legal to wear any type of face covering in public in the state of OR? Not like a Halloween mask but just any type of face covering (bandana, balaklava, etc). I know it is illegal to wear a costume mask while driving but if I was simply concerned with my privacy and wanted to be unidentifiable in public would that be at all legal, and in what ways would it or wouldn't it be?

  • Hawaii gun laws, what could/couldn't I bring?

I live in Oregon but am thinking of making the big move across to Hawaii but I am wondering which of the guns I own would be legal to bring to/possess in Hawaii? I have a bolt action hunting rifle, a riot-gauge pump action shotgun which can hold 8 shells, an AK47 with many many high capacity magazines, and seven handguns (mixed pistols and a revolver) most of which I have at least 3 high capacity magazines for although my 1911 and PPK only hold 7 each. Is any of this legal to bring with me? Where does HI stand on the assault weapons issue and high cap mags?

Also could I bring any of the ammo that I have with me or would I be stuck getting new ammo out there?

  • What is my ASVAB score?

Here are the raw numbers I got from a sample ASVAB test.

I'll keep this formula going down the list but it may not always line up perfectly, but the #s are in the same spots:

    Section---Qs---Right---Wrong---Correct %

    General science---25---18---7---72%

    Arithmetic reasoning---30---22---8---73%

    Word Knowledge---35---29---6---82%

    Paragraph Comp.---15---13---2---86%

    Math. Knowledge---25---20---5---80%

    Electronics Info.---20---8---12---40%

    Auto&Shop Info.---25---19---6---76%

    Mechanical Comp.---25---16---9---64%

    Assembling Objcts.---25---21----4---84%

I have looked online but not gotten a straight answer anywhere, if anyone knows how to do the official calculation or has a source I should provide this information to so as to get a real score please let me know. I am interested in all branches of the military except for Coast Guard, and National Guard. I want to know what, if any, I am qualified for and what direction the MOS might recommend based on my score.

  • Fallout: New Vegas... Living anywhere/Can I live?

In Fallout 3 one of the ways I liked to play was to just pick a random place out in the wasteland (a random house, bunker, train station, cave, sewer, etc) and move in. I would live there and deal with whatever enemies regularly came by because after 5 play-throughs living in the houses you're 'allowed' to live in I was getting bored of Megaton and Tenpenny Tower. None of my stuff was ever moved or taken when I would return, so I know this can be done in Fallout 3... my question is can I live anywhere in New Vegas?

I'm tired of rushing through the first part of the game up until you hit Novac just so I can get a house. My plan is to grab one of the vacant houses in Nipton (the town with the 'lottery', everyone's dead there anyway) and take it over. I'll move my stuff in and then be able to accumulate things/wealth from an earlier point in the game. Does anyone know if this can be done? Has anyone tried this and had success/failure? Any suggestions on how to make this work better?

PS - Please don't just tell me to live in a faction safe house/or place that the game wants me to live. This is a question about being pseudo homeless in Fallout and making your OWN home out on the range somewhere.

  • Presidential Ballot: Write in vote? (READ NOTE FIRST)?

NOTE/READ FIRST: I do not want this to be a political debate about the merits of each candidate, nor do I want a bunch of answers telling me I am wasting my vote (I may very well be but I'm a fan of doing what I believe in over making the conventional choice in spite of whether that renders my actions symbolic or otherwise wasted. Also any racist remarks against Obama (there's always a few) will be deleted and reported, I hate racism.

When voting for president this November would I be able to write in the name of a candidate that I would like to vote for? I am aware that in city and county elections this is possible (at least in my home state of Oregon) but would this still be an option on the national level? I don't know if it's worth voting for Obama and I'm NOT voting for Romney so would I be able to simply write in a more desirable candidate?

  • Is haggis illegal in the US?

I've heard that haggis is illegal to sell/make in the US. This is not good news as I am currently in Scotland but will be missing the stuff when I go home to America. I am wondering if there is any truth to this rumor or if I will be able to import it into the US? At the very least could I make my own by getting in touch with a butcher and procuring the necessary...parts? Help me out, my fiancee and I will be missing haggis when we go back to the states, is there anything we can do aside from go back to Scotland to have more?

  • UK candy: do they still make 'Millions'?

I am visiting the UK and was told by a Welshman that 'Millions' were a candy I had to try. I have looked exhaustively in both Scotland and in London and can't find them anywhere, could they have been discontinued? Do they still make them? Are they only available in Wales or other very specific locales?

  • Is Brandon Roy retiring this year?

I heard that Brandon Roy (#7 for Portland Trail Blazers) is retiring after this season because of his knees. Is this true? I knew last year he was having knee issues by the end of the season but I've been in Scotland for 3 months and missed most of this season due to the lockout and timing of my trip. Am I missing out on our last season with Roy or will he be around next year (even if next year is his last)?

  • How can I stop talking in my sleep?

I want to stop talking in my sleep, I never say anything wrong or evil or bad but I find it embarrassing. My fiance tells me that I talk in my sleep a lot and say very random or stupid things, it's not a problem I suppose but I find it embarrassing that I have no control over what I am saying nor do I remember it in the morning. In fact unless she told me about it, chances are that I wouldn't even know I had done it. Is there any way to stop talking in your sleep or is this just something I'm going to have to live with?

  • 80's TV show with puppets flying jets?

I can't remember this show that I saw as a kid, it featured (pretty creepy) puppets who flew around in jets and maybe had boats/submarines... I can't remember the name of this show, nor can I remember anything about the plot... I mostly remembered being creeped out by their faces and how odd the puppetry was. My brother watched the show, I was very young and it wasn't on the air for much of my childhood but I distinctly remember it. Does anyone know what this show is?

  • Does eye color affect eye function?

So I understand that people from different parts of the world have different color skin because of the different amounts of sunlight we would historically have been exposed to but I am wondering about eye color... It seems to me (and I'm not trying to sound racist) that most races other than whites seem to predominantly have brown eyes, I know there are plenty of exceptions but I mean more often than not. I am wondering if this is just another one of those inexplicable things or if it really matters at all? Do different colors of eyes actually see better/worse? Is there any developmental reason for this or is it simply a random aesthetic development?

BQ1: What color eyes do you have?

BQ2: What color eyes do you find the most attractive?

  • Is it customary for men to wear engagement rings?

I know that normally women get the fancy engagement ring with the diamond on it, but do men wear an engagement ring? I recently got engaged and am wondering if I should just wear a simple band (nothing fancy, no diamonds) but have a ring to symbolize that I'm the other half of that equation?

  • Secret service protection?

I know that all former presidents maintain a secret service detail to protect them for the rest of their lives, my question is if the ex-president moves to a different country would this be affected? What if any difference would this make on the security detail?

  • Grammar question: "an historic event"?

Why do people say 'an historic day' or 'an historic event'? It is my understanding that you only say 'an' when the word in question begins with a vowel, for example you would say:

    this is a taco

    vs.

    this is an enchilada

So why does everyone say 'this is an historic day'? Neither the subject nor the adjective begin with a vowel, so it just confuses me and sounds wrong. I'm wondering if there is a special exception for this or if this is another case of media and popular culture just being absurdly stupid and people either not noticing or caring enough to correct them. I dunno though I've only been an English speaker for 25 years so I may be wrong...

  • Really old slang question, what does this mean?

I have heard the term 'kicking the gong around' in a lot of music from the 1930s through the early 1950s. I have no idea what this means and I can't find it online... I'm guessing it has something to do with sex, or perhaps alcohol? Does anyone know what this means?

  • Xmas Poll! Decorations: what is too early/too late?

How early is too early to put up Xmas decorations? What is the earliest you've put them up?

Also how late is too late to take them down? Is there a point where you've waited too long and you just decide not to bother putting them up at all?

It's always so tempting to leave the lights up... everything else comes down but what does everyone think?

  • Is there a limit on how much liquor you can bring into the US?

I am trying to bring four of my friends each a bottle (a fifth probably) of scotch back from Scotland. Is this over the limit of spirits you can bring into the US, is there even a limit for how much liquor you can bring into the US?

BQ: Would I be able to get around it if I shipped some of it in a box to the US then brought a bit with me in my bag?

  • What was your favorite Final Fantasy game?

For me the buck stops in 1997 with FFVII. That one had the best story, characters and soundtrack as far as I'm concerned. The materia system was easy to manage and the plot had good twists to support those characters. It was before people talked in video games which meant you could literally name anyone in your party anything which made for some pretty funny (and immature) play throughs. Which was your favorite and why?

  • Cold Stream DLC for L4D2? Release date?

It's a new level, along with a remake of one from the original L4D (Dead Air, the airport one I believe) I remember hearing they were beta testing it over the SUMMER... then they said it'd be out for console DLC by Halloween... When will this be available on Xbox Live or will it remain in limbo forever?

  • How to fix magazine wobble on Romanian WASR AK-47?

I have the Romanian WASR-10 model AK but there is a slight mag wobble with my 30 and 40 round magazines. I haven't ever had feed problems with any of them but I'm wondering if there is an easy way to fix this without sending it in to a gunsmith. I know the 7.62 Saiga doesn't have this issue but honestly I don't want to buy a new one, so is there a way I can take care of this on the cheap and without breaking any laws?
