  • Quicken Loans, can I buy a starter home?

I am a 20 year old junior in college with 11.5 thousand in the bank, a excellent credit score of 759 and a monthly income of around 1300 a month. I also have zero debts and my price range for a starter home in my area is 60-75 thousand. Is this a doable thing for me?

  • 20 Years old, 11.5k in the bank, rent or starter home?

So I am a 20 year old second semester junior in college majoring in accounting. I am moving out of my parents house soon and I have been looking at apartments as well as cheap 2 bed 1 bath starter homes in my area (Richmond, Ky). The starter homes I have been looking at are 60-75k dollars. My current income is 1300 dollars a month and I have zero debts. No student loans (college is paid in full), no credit card debt, no car debt, etc. The only expenses I have is my cell phone bill (100 a month) gas, and when I move out utilities, food and necessities (toilet paper, that kind of stuff). My credit is well established and I have an excellent credit score rating of 759. I called quicken loans earlier and they contacted a mortgage banker in my area and I am expecting a call next week to discuss my options. I would rather have a nice little small starter home as opposed to renting because I like having control over where I live and I feel like that is the sole reason I have been saving all this money for. Like I said I am looking for reasonably priced detached single family homes in my area in the 60-75k range (this is the conservative estimate the online "how much mortgage can you afford" told me I should be looking for. I know if I did end up buying I could probably get an FHA loan with 3.5 percent down. I know you pay mortgage insurance with that but on such a small sized investment the insurance is not going to be much at all. Thoughts?

  • Moving into first apartment. Trying to be curtious of neighbors so they don t smell Cannabis.?

I am moving into a 1 bed basement apartment that is the basement to some commercial buildings. It s a pretty sweet deal, 400 a month with all utilities included. I smoke Cannabis so I want to make sure no body will smell when I smoke. I checked the ventilation in the apartment and there seems to be no vents in the ceilings except for the bathroom and that one is really small. Other than that it s a pretty compact space it seems like. My biggest thing is I don t want my smoke traveling up to the commercial building above me. I have bought s smoke buddy carbon filter to blow smoke into so there is no smell of smoke from exhaling and a smoke malodor candle to mask any other smell that may come out of my bongs bowl. I also play to pack tiny bowls each time I smoke so I can ash the whole thing and no left over smoke is smoldering in my bowl. If I smoke in my bedroom where there is no vents in the ceiling and close the bedroom door and bathroom door whilst using these tricks do you think there will be much of a smell at all? Also I keep all my bud in a sealed tight mason jar so the actual bud will have no smell due to the seal. Honestly I just don t want to bother anyone.

  • Mom and I do not get along so she will not co-sign for first apartment. I have 11 grand in the bank.?

So I am a junior in college (Accounting Major) and work over 35 hours a week bringing home roughly 1200 a month. I found an 1 bed 1 bath apartment for 400 a month with utilities included even electric up to 45 dollars a month. My credit score is 762 and like I said I have 11 over 11 grand in the bank. The rental office lady said I needed a co-sign since I have no prior rental history. When I came home and asked my mom to co-sign, despite me having over 3 years of the rent payment in the bank, she still said no because she just feels wary about it. I called the office and told them my mom would not co-sign but I can easily pay 3-6 month or even more if need be up front. The move in date would be September 1st and the lady asked me why my mom would not co-sign, I told her she just did not feel comfortable co-signing anything. Also my mom and I are fighting because at home she is borderline schizophrenic. She sounded surprised when I told her I could easily pay 6 months rent up front. She then said she would call me back soon and see if they would do it without the co-sign. Is paying this much up front a good way to tell the landlord that I can easily pay them even without a co-sign? Also I have no criminal record so I don't think they would suspect I deal drugs or anything. Thoughts?

  • Will my health insurance reimburse me for this?

Okay so I have an incurable bladder condition called interstitial cystitis. Not much helps so I am constantly looking for new findings in the field of IC. I found a clinic in D.C. where they do testing and try to find out how to help heal your IC. The clinic is ran by 2 Nurse Practitioners so its not like a naturopath or any of that quackery. They have a "new patient appointment fee of $525" and follow up skype appointments are 125 dollars. They said in my email that

"Payment is due at the time of the appointment. Please provide credit card information. The fee schedule is below. Our practice does not bill insurance companies for services given, however, paperwork is provided for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Patients who have their appointments by telephone or Skype are encouraged to contact their insurance provider prior to the appointment to determine if phone consultations are covered. Most insurance companies only reimburse for face to face consultations."

So they will give me paper work to send to my health insurance for reimbursement? I have anthem blue cross and blue shield PPO in Kentucky and I have never been to a practice that doesn t bill insurance companies directly. Does anybody know how this all works?

  • Election 2016 business Idea?

I m a junior in college and me and my co-worker have been brainstorming business ideas so we can get some extra income. I thought to myself that I know politics a decent amount and this election is one of the craziest ones I ve ever seen. I was thinking maybe I could design some kind of peripheral item/T-shirt for either republicans or democrats or even both that would rile up their emotions of the election and they would be promted to buy such an item. Of course I know I can not use Trump s name or Clinton s name directly but I can insinuate their names and play off peoples political leanings to get them to buy stuff they don t really need. I feel like if I came up with a great T-SHIRT design on Photoshop and I got permission to put signs out where a busy intersection is, I could very well get a decent amount of orders during this crazy election cycle. This seems like a decent small time venture anybody in any small town across the U.S. could do. Also it doesn t even have to be T-SHIRTS, it could be some other kind of product like bumper stickers or something.

  • If the Judaeo Christian God exists, why would he leave no hard concrete evidence of his existence to inform us he is real?

I am an agnostic atheist but I am open to there being a God or afterlife. I just have a hard time committing myself to something I am unsure of, and at the moment I have a hard time understanding why God (if he exists) would leave barely any evidence of his existence. Someone answered a similar question on here years ago and said that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the evidence, however that does not help me any considering the only evidence for Jesus are early christian writings that were written a several decades after the events of Christs Crucifixion. All of the sources on Jesus are really shaky to begin with from what I have researched. Another thing on Jesus that I heard from a scholar online said that the Roman Empire literally recorded almost everything that was important. They knew the exact time of day that Mount Vesuvius erupted (lunch time) from records they had. Back to my original question, I just find it odd that our God would leave such little for us to go on except a second hand account of documents we call the Bible. Notice I said second hand. I find it disturbing that if he does exist, that he would be negligent in making his presence well known to people who would have no way of knowing otherwise. To amplify my point, I can not fathom that he would be so negligent especially if our eternal well being is on the line. Thank you for your time everyone. Also I respect everyone religious beliefs, we are all just humans trying to figure out why we are here.

  • What is the best place for a new accounting grad to move to?

So I will graduate in 3 semesters (fall 2017). I plan to have 6 months of intern experience right when I graduate. I currently live in Richmond Kentucky and I want to move out west. I do not want to take the CPA exam because I do not want to stay in college and get the 150 credit hours requirement and go through all the continuing education and bull crap just to get the certification. I have seen starting salaries and I am assuming I would start out at around 35k a year which I am totally fine with starting out. I plan to have 20 grand saved before I move out (currently have 9 grand). I just want to move to a city that has great job outlook especially in the accounting sector. I have 1 litmus test really though and that is I prefer that marijuana is legal, or at least medical marijuana because I have a medical condition that qualifies for its use and the studies show it helps way better than medicine that barely works for me as it is.

    Thanks!

  • What state should I move to after college?

Okay so I live in Kentucky and next semester I will be a junior in college, and I am an accounting major. I do not plan on getting a cpa right after I graduate or a masters for that matter. Right now I am pilling up as much money as I can, I have about 6 grand right now and if I keep saving at this rate and living with my parents for 2 more years, I will have around 20 to 25 grand saved up by the time I graduate.

Here is my criteria for the state I want to move to.

1.Very low income tax if not none at all, I am more or less a left leaning libertarian and I like to keep as much money I will make as possible.

    2. Legal marijuana, or will be legal within 2 years. I love smoking marijuana, it is very therapeutic for me and it helps me manage my bladder condition I suffer with.

    3. Moderately warm to hot climate. I prefer the beach but I don t necessarily have to be in a state with beaches. I am not to fond of long winters.

    4. Good job prospects.

Also if you could give me any ideas on what cities would be good cities to move to since I prefer cities over suburban or rural areas.

    Thanks so much!

  • What do you do when you don't believe in anything anymore?

I feel like I can not trust anything in this world anymore. I grew up catholic and found most of Christianity contradictory. I studied other religions, new age spirituality, etc etc and could not find myself to believe in any of this. Moving along to becoming a full on agnostic atheist who puts my faith in science, but then to only realize science doesn't really have many answers to anything. Science is always flipping back and forth, getting rid of old theories and replacing them with new theories. Its always fluid and I guess that is a good thing but when you look at it I feel like science is still in the dark ages since it can not point to many truths about my existence and what happens after this. I guess you could still call me an agnostic atheist that really ******* hopes there is more to life to this, but there is no proof that there is more than this. Is there any meaning to life what so ever? I really don't want any evangelizers to answer this question please.

  • Keyboard piano recomendation?

Hello I'm a senior in high school and i love music. I am in AP music theory and really enjoy it and i really wanted to get better at piano so i started taking lessons from a local experienced woman. I have my own Casio keyboard that i use to practice on at home but the problem is, it only has 50 somthing keys and has no dynamics or foot pedal ( meaning i cant play say forte or pianissimo because the notes on this electric piano have no dynamics too them unlike a grand piano.) I have a job and have saved up quite a bit of money (i have about 3.6k but i don't want to spend that much obviously). Can any of you musicians recommend a quality electronic keyboard with great sound dynamics, and that includes a footpedal? I would probably be willing to spend around 800-900 dollars. I was really looking at a casio px 750.

  • I am almost 18 and I want to start investing my money. Any tips or suggestions from older more wise investors?

I'm a senior in high school and turn 18 in a month and a half. I have seriously been thinking about my financial future and have decided I want to start investing my money once I turn 18. I currently work at McDonalds and have saved up about 3500 dollars so far. Next year when I enter college I will be living at home so I don't have to pay room and board and the tuition is only 3500 per semester (I plan on majoring in computer science). While in college I plan on working full time at mcdonalds making 12-15 thousand dollars a year. If I subtract 7.5 grand from that it leaves me with roughly 7 grand a year. I wouldn't have to pay for much anything since I will be living at home and my parents will be paying for food and car insurance mostly, I just pay for my gas. So anyway, I will have roughly 5-7 grand each year to invest each year i'm in college, I just don't know where or how to start. I know ive been told the earlier you start investing, the easier it is to accumulate wealth. I could start investing in just a money market account or CD but the interest rates on those are so low currently like below 1 percent on a lot,

so I am skeptical. I was thinking about investing in multiple stocks like growth stocks and dividend stocks however I have no experience at all in any of these fields. Does anyone have any advice for what I should start investing my money in as I start college this year and for years to come?

  • Which one of these TVs do you guys recommend?

Ok so im 17 and i have had a job for 4 months and saved up about 2000 dollars, atm i make 190 a week but when school starts next year and i become a senior i will only make roughly 140 a week. I plan on getting the PlayStation 4 for the next generation console and i plan on doing alot of gaming and movies and netflix. My mom bought me a inuit glass tv stand up to 60 inches because she thought it would look good in my basement (which is where the tv will go, in the dark basement because i game in the dark.) Ive been shopping around and im confused on what i should get. Ive looked at the new 55 inch m series from vizio which is smart and 3d with 4 hdmi ports and its a led 240 hertz refresh rate. I have also looked at a 51 inch Samsung smart 3d plasma tv with 600 refresh rate and 3 hdmi ports. The last one i have been looking at is a panasonic 50 inch plasma 600 refresh rate smart (non 3d) Tv with only 2 hdmi ports. The vizio is 1000, the samsung is 850 and the panasonic is 700. I also plan to get some suround sound hooked up in the future and if any of you can suggest inexpensive but quality suround sound systems that would be great. Also the guy at hhgregg told me he would throw in a free blueray player with the samsung but i dont think that really matters because it will probably be the crappiest one they have. Thank you for all your suggestions

  • Why is same sex marriage still illegal in so many states?

It is obvious that the majority of Americans see same sex marriage as something to be legally recognized between two individuals who love each other. I mean polls say that about 54 percent of Americans support same sex marriage. The polls are even higher for people under the age of 30 where 73 percent support marriage equality.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2...

My question simply is if more than half of the country thinks same sex marriage should be legal, then why is it that only one fifth of the states allow same sex marriage? Thanks

So im a junior in Highschool, last year and this year i have been in advanced chorus and i found out i trully love to sing and I also want to play piano. I keep doubting myself becuse i see many of my friends play piano beautifully but many of them started when they were young like in elementery and middle school. My question is, how far do you think i can go with this even though im a little late starting and do you have any tips or suggestions to what i might do? Next year (my senior year) i plan on taking piano 1 as a class, and i also have discussed with my mom maybe getting me piano lessons starting during the summer and contiuning throughout senior year. • Is there anything wrong with hating my dad? Heres my story..?

So my dad has always been a lazy *** pile of crap who sits around the house all day. He has been retired since i was a baby due to his type 1 diabetes being unstable ( he was a gym teacher and would get low on his students) and has been been on disability basically since i was born. I am almost 17 and my mom works her *** off every day at work to provide for me and my dad and he barely does anything while me and her are at school (she is a guidance counsulour and im a jr in highschool). I highly love and respect my mom. All my dad has ever done since i was a littl child was sit at home and sleep and watch t.v and getting low on blood sugar when me and my mom arrive home from school ( he seriously is low on sugar half of the time we get home which always makes me worry if we will find him dead when we get home one day from school). His blood sugar has always been uncontrolled and he is very unhealthy and me and my mom urge him to talk to his doctor about his blood sugar and too get it under control and he doesnt do it because he is the most stubborn thing on the planet, he doesnt care and i keep telling him he will die if he doesnt yet he continues to put it off so theres nothing i can do. He does almost nothing asside from occasionaly doing the dishes to help my mom and he should be doing alot since hes home every day. The only reason my mom doesnt divorce him is our religion (were catholic). He always screams and yells random words or somthing when hes low on blood sugar and i always try to give him a coke to bring his blood sugar back up and its always an uphill freaking battle to get his bloodsugar back to normal. As i get older and older i reallize how he is throwing his dam life away and how pathetic it is, and every time i try to get him to do somthing good ( like talk to his doctor or anything) he says no. He is the most unhealthy person I know and i fear when he dies i wont feel much for him and if anything i might feel a relief to not be constantly concered if i will come home to a dead father or not. It drives me crazy and i thank god every day for my mom who can provide and care for me. Please give me your thoughts, god bless...
